  1. Initially I was wondering wtf a side like Juve are in for a plum like JAB, but then you have to remember they're in Serie B...
  2. To be fair Hemdani has had a good pre-season and is capable of filling in in general in Barry's absence. But he's not exactly a leader and I wonder if he'll be up to the sheer pace of matches like Sunday's. He's not a strong player although he is a good passer.
  3. Damn, this one's a bit of a blow. "PAUL Le Guen has confirmed Barry Ferguson will be missing through injury for the immediate future, while also remaining hopeful on the signing Paul Le Guenof Austria Vienna striker Filip Sebo. Reports this morning claimed Fergie would be out for the next five weeks with a heel problem and although he will be sidelined, the manager could not put an exact timescale on his absence. That now means the skipper, as well as Ian Murray (virus), Chris Burke (ankle) and Kris Boyd (suspension) are all unavailable for this weekend's game at Fir Park. But despite these setbacks, Le Guen remains upbeat ahead of his first SPL match in charge. Le Guen said: "I am excited about the match because it is an important game. There is nothing like competitive action. "Of course I am very disappointed for Barry and for the team. It's not good for us but we have to get on with things. "We must go with the medical advice and be guided by them. We need to see how he responds to treatment and take it from there. "It is not the same injury that was operated on earlier in the summer, it is different." Frankly we could do with a spot of better luck going into Sunday's game. Obviously I expect us to win, but it's worrying that 2 of our first team regulars are currently injured.
  4. I've not seen it said that we're paying £2M. Just that Wein have given in.
  5. FC Rangers 0 - 2 FK Sarajevo Looks like Rangers to me... What the hell is this?
  6. Cheers Rino.
  7. Aye indeed. What time, does anyone know know?
  8. So you're saying it's already happened? Where are you getting this information from Dunn?
  9. I haven't said anything up till now, but suddenly I'm very proud of what our lads have achieved. Right now it doesn't matter that there's only one bear in the squad, we've made the final - Scotland are actually in a final of a meaningful competition. That is absolutely stunning, and to beat a team of the quality of the Czech Republic in the semis is mind blowing. This gives us fantastic hope for the future of the Scottish game - and the possibility we may once again start to qualify for major tournaments. btw - BBC2 will have the whole match live. When is the game?
  10. Our midfield is far more intricate than it was under Eck. Under Eck the players seemed to have 3 options: try (and fail) to thread a killer pass through too often, whack a meaningless long ball forward, or pass back to the defence. Now, while there are *still* aspects of the latter 2 in our game, overall the standard has improved because there is less of them. The midfield is looking much more intelligent and thoughtful - if there's no way through that way, keep the ball and probe for another way through rather than trying to produce a Ronaldinho pass onto the toe of a striker.
  11. Miller, Riorden, Caldwell, Jarosik, Sno.
  12. Yup - we do which is something I've started a new thread on. You know, if I'm totally honest, I would say both squads are actually about equal. A full strength Celtic would be: Boruc Telfer Caldwell/Mcmanus Balde Camara Nakamura Jarosik Petrov Riorden Miller Magic Their defence is fairly settled if not exactly brilliant, same as ours. Their midfield is strong (With the exception of Riorden), same as ours, and the jury's out on their front men while we have Dado and Kris - so maybe we have the edge there. The one aspect we have over them is a much better manager. Pound for pound I really don't see a huge gulf between the teams.
  13. Hope you're right.
  14. As much as I wish you were right Dunn, it's just wishful thinking. If the BBC are correct, then in relation to Timoschuk: "Donetsk general director Sergei Palkin told the Daily Record: "There was a call to express Celtic's interest, they have not yet made an offer."" As for JVoH: "Meanwhile, Van Hesselink's father said: "We have a meeting with Celtic."" Looks like they're seriously in for these players and I for one am not too happy about it.
  15. I have to say one aspect of this summer has left me feeling very disappointed. We have brought in one of the most respected young coaches in the game, a coach players almost universally look up to and admire. A coach with great clout in the game and a great reputation. Even without a budget, we expected some truly inspiring names to join us. Hell, we were linked with players like Kallstrom, Dhorasoo, and Givet to name just 3. But since our glut of acquisitions like Sionko, Svensson and Clement, we have been linked with absolutely no one, despite PLG stating we still need more players. We haven't made any one signing of the gravity we expected given the coaches name and pedigree. No big names have been signed by us. Sure, we had fantastical speculation like Zidane for a while, but nothing to really get the juices flowing has materialised. And then today we hear Celtic are in for 2 genuine world talents in Timoschuk and Venegoor. I have to say if PLG's revolution has let me down in one area, it's been the lack of exciting transfer speculation and actual acquisitions. We have signed good players, and we seem to be building a team around individuals who will make a good solid unit. It's just a wee bit of a let down that we've not brought in any exciting stars. Remember the excitement when we signed de Boer, for example? I thought PLG's name would alone be enough to get us some major players. It just hasn't happened.
  16. That's the banana.
  17. I am actually worried if they sign both these players. Both are top drawer. Timoschuk was brilliant for the Ukraine at the world cup, and Venegoor is a very good player, period. These are players I do not want them to sign.
  18. I loved it when the tim ran onto the pitch. tgfitw yeah? Yeah right...
  19. Not true Calscot. They're for 'discriminatory' chants. Surely pro-terrorism will fit into that category? And as for their home support being clean as a whistle? Nah - I've heard IRA being chanted there as recently as a few months ago.
  20. Agree. Setting aside my personal feelings about the song, the benchmark for us is NOT what Celtic do. Yes, seeing them punished for their blatant pro-terrorism bile would be satisfying and if justice prevails, it will happen. But we are Rangers and we have to sort out our own problems and forget about what is happening elsewhere.
  21. Capucho scored a few goals and occasionally looked mediocre. Ostenstad scored twice (Albeit against Alloa - still, a goal is a goal). Bernard gave absolutely nothing except grief and is the worst player I've seen at Ibrox in my lifetime.
  22. PAUL LE GUEN is hoping to bring in two more players to his Rangers squad but it may depend on unwated stars moving on. He has candidly told three players that they should move on - Marvin Andrews, Oliver Bernard and Bob Malcolm - and if they do it may aid his chances of bolstering the squad. Filip SeboAndrews certainly played his part for Rangers in a two-year period, but his unwillingness to have surgery on a cruciate ligament problem cost him his World Cup place with Trinidad & Tobago. Malcolm has also been a good servant to Rangers but Le Guen has decided that it would also be in his best interests to find a fresh challenge. Bernard just did not hit it off at all, it is fair to say. Le Guen is on record as wanting to sign Slovakian striker Filip Sebo, who was a team mate of Libor Sionko last season, and also had one more target. The manager said: "It would be better for everyone if we find a solution but it depends on the will of the players.Paul Le Guen "It is better to tell the players the situation before the season starts rather than wait until the games have commenced. It means that they know exactly what is happening. "They have an understanding that I think it is best for them to go. Sometimes it is difficult to tell players that they should leave, but it is better to be honest with them. "If these players do leave the club I am not sure if it will enable me to bring more in. We will see. "I am not in a hurry but I hope that if this happens then I would be able to get one or maybe two more players." Loved the comment about Bernard. Nicest way of saying he was arguably the pishest player Rangers have signed in the last decade.
  23. We'll have to agree to disagree then...
