Whilst stuttgart clearly dominated due to the space Cacau in particular was finding between midfield and defence, they didn't actually work the keeper that much. Yet all they could talk about after the first was how a second would kill us off, despite it not looking like coming.

The player Gary Caldwell thinks he is? Caldwell believes in and the press talk up his ability to bring the ball out from the back, like some Beckenbauer-esque defender striding forward with the ball. Bougherra though, as he showed again tonight, actually can bring the ball out from the back. I think he gets hacked off with the guys in front of him sometimes and thinks "fuck this" i'm gonna do something with the ball and win this game.

Bill Leslie was pissing me off first half. As was Provan. After the goal it was all "the game's over if Stuttgart score again". Even though they rarely threatened for a decent period after the goal. They found too much space between midfield and defence in the first half, but it was not quite as bad as the commentators were describing (although very poor). I do think Stuttgart will feel mugged tonight, but at the end of the day, for all their early dominance, they didn't work McGregor enough. Agree with your individual player comments.
