  1. True. The only striker who can do it effectively is JCD. Yet COusin is repeatedly allowed to put in worse performances than Boyd in that role.
  2. Well you've got pay the going rate for top experienced pro's.
  3. It's absolutely spot on atm. Maybe not in the past when he got the bulk of his caps. But you're going back at least 5/6 years to when Dailly could be considered anything approaching a footballer. When did he last have a full season at a top team?
  4. It's not even particularly an age thing. I was pro-Weir signing, even considering his recent wobbles. It's a quality thing. I just don't accept that buying an older player makes him better because he has experience. What use is experience if it is not complimented by a decent level of footballing ability. My record in these things isn't too bad. Said Weir would be a good signing. Always been pro Hutton and said he would come good. New McGregor would make a decent enough keeper (No Goram etc but then how many current player live up to the Hall of famer types). With many fans now beginning to agree and be happy with him. As a couple of examples. Dailly may come in play the odd game in the SPL and we may still win the league. But it will be in spite of him not becuase of him. His would be a poor signing for a number of reasons. A backwards step. A short term loan for a player of poor quality and high wages, boosted by being an aged pro coming from down south. It will dishearten fringe players and youngsters and prevent their development. I do not see one single up side.
  5. I can FFS. The boy got a few caps in some very poor Scotland squads. He got a few more because Eck and WS wont play better young players if there's a coffin dodger about with experience. IF a guy is "experienced" he gets picked. Doesn't matter that his "experience" is of playing very badly. Look at Gary Caldwell. very very poor footballer. But basically guaranteed to be in any Scotland squad because he has been in previous one's. It's a sad fact of national managers, particulalry Scottish ones. Look at Hutton, should've been in Scotland squads at least a couple of games earlier. But he had to play out of his skin for ages whilst inferior but experienced players continued to put in mediocre performances. Also he has not played for a big club for a long time. As I said, has been. Perhaps looked good a number of years ago. But not for a long long long time. Having played for a big team in the past has f.a to do with now. Or shoudl we go back in for Ross, Capucho and Ostenstad?
  6. And as my moaning continues; We're now stuck for another 6(ish) months, with a player who doesn't want to be here and has been playing in a manner that suggested as much basically since he's been here. An outstanding performance v Lyon away. And that is it. Despite showing the attributes of a player who should be able to play the lone striker role and appearing to have a good touch, throught the majority of games he hasn't actually shown to be adept at either. Initially I put up with him in the team as the accepted wisdom was he could play the lone striker role and had a more comoplete game than Boyd. However as his unwillingness to get involved in games led to him becoming increasingly less effective in games, his only real contributions being the odd goal, his manager rode to his defence. He's a frustrating player whom sometimes will only contribute with goals. Has he ever jumped to Boyd and used this as a defence of said player? No he's used it as a reason not to play Kris. So he's sticking with Cousin, who only scores goals, despite everyone being able to see and stats proving conclusively, that Boyd does it better. Our best goalscorer since Coisty gets relegated back to the bench so we can put up with a lesser copy of him, who should show so much more, but now never does. If it wasn't for the Hutton scenario this would be my biggest gripe of the transfer window. Not getting rid of a largely ineffectual player who came for a decent fee and big bucks and doesn't even want to be here a couple of months later. And where does he want to go? Relegation certainties Fulham. He's been saved that ignominy by staying to fight for 4 trophies instead of relegation and he wont even appreciate it. [/rant]
  7. Whats the point in experience if you're a SHITE footballer? Dailly has experience of being a very bad footballer for a number of years. He was adequate for Scotland under Brown and Berti's terrible reign. However he hasn't kicked a ball in anger in a number of years (one recent Scotland game I beleive we were already winning apart). I don't want an old player just because we can tag him as experienced. Give me Broadfoot or Webster before Dailly. Hell i'd even have Hemdani back at CB before Dailly, and believe me that is saying something. Laughing stock again. Sell Scotland's best player this year (by a country mile) and buy a (never) has been. Can this transfer window get any worse. If we scrape a league title or cup with this ongoing insanity it will not convince me that what I have said here is wrong.
  8. The only thing i'm disappointed about is forcing Hutton out. They can buy all the Man City Rejects, Japanese wonderkids and the likes of Hinkel that they want. None of those impress me. Well chuffed we didn't sign Samaras going on what's been said here and his fialure down south. If we'd kept Hutton this transfer window and even with losing the outgoing players (Cousin although not now , Carroll and Ehiogu) I would be happy with signing noone as opposed to wasting money on marketing opportunities (Mizuno) and Premiership failures. But with Hutton going and severely weakening our first XI and having left ourselves no time to complete deals for number one targets we'll now likely rush in some diddy's to try and appease the fans.
  9. Fair do's mate. My comment was in relation to others' analyssi fo the player. From the little i've seen of him in England (as he struggles to get a game or impress when he does) does nto inspire confidence. However you're not the first to suggest he was a decent player in Holland and maybe Walter thinks he can get the best out of him. Still think we should be looking at playing two up front with Boyd feeding off the service of another.
  10. SO another inferior player to play Boyd's role (by inferior I mean will also do feck all but score less goals). If we're looking for a guy who only scores we've got a far better player without spending nearly £3mil.
  11. Cannae argue with that, but I still don't think Andrew knows what his opinion is. :D
  12. :box: Coming from the man who contradicted himself about 4 times re: Gow the other night!
  13. He's a premierhip player so premiership prices. Feck off you bigotted twat. He's a reserve player so reserve prices more like. Cousin is a Champions League player so how does that fit with O'Neills pish?
  14. Totally agree on the first half of your post. In the last two games we've had 2-3 penalties turned down, one of which would've been a sending off, but a scandalous offside is given instead. And also the keeper should've walked for handball, plus a goal chopped off wrongly in the last. One week it will cost us. Not prepared to throw away our advantage due to very dubious offciating.
  15. Talking sense as always mate. A concise and eloquent review of the ICT game. Despite the fact that we were poor, ICT came away with a lot of credit. I don't go along with this as they were worse than us and only mustered two serious attacks with a few pot shots from outisde the box. I actually picked McGregor motm which may seem a contradiction of the above, but to me it summed up how poor the outfield players were. McGregor had little to do. The two serious attacks I mention above are the chargedown in the first half agaisnt Patalaainen (sp) and the Tokely shot at the death. Add a tv save from Yantorno and that was the sum of his real work. That save looking good for the cameras, but in reality a perfect height for the keeper. Held everything else that came at him and never troubled. As I sya though, when you look at how easy an afternoon it was for teh keeper and he was still arguably our best performer, it just shows how poor the likes of Fergie, Hemdnai and Cousin were.
  16. Aye the first thing that jumped out at me when I saw that comment was Walter was contradicting himself with the way he discusses Boyd's situation then says almost the polar opposite re; Cousin. If, as it seems in recent weeks, Cousin is only int the team because he scores then he should be dropped immediately and Boyd reinstated as he only score goals, but at a better rate than Cousin. Neither play the lone role well.
  17. I agree with that mate. The strange thing about Whittaker is he arguably impressed me more in filling in at LB than he did in his favoured position in the past few games. I expect this may be due to the pressure he put himself under knowing that performances in the two games Hutton was suspended would need to be exceptional to have any chance of keeping Hutton out. Even then it would be highly unlikely. Perhaps if he had been able to play without this pressure it would have freed him up to play like the attacking almost Hutton-esque RB he was at Hibs. I imagine Hutton will go eventually and then Whittaker will be able to make the position his own. However keeping Hutton until the summer could be essential in the chase for silverware.
  18. Versus Gretna, Adam and Hemdani were simply atrocious. Hemdani was not his usual self, getting caught in possession, slack distribution and rarely in the game. Similarly, Adam had the same faults, his poor distribution a result of going for the "Hollywood" pass too often. And both players continued in the same vein in the first half in Inverness. Hemdani again caught in possession too often with poor distribution. Neither were involved enogh and couldn't hit a team mate. second half and there was considerable improvement, however this improvement only amounted to acceptable second half displays. Hemdani got more involved, passing improved but was still guilty of avoiding the forward pass. A timely block was also essential in securing 3 points. Adam suprisingly benefited from moving to a wider position in a 4-4-2 (the opposite of what is usually expected). He was robbed of a legitimate goal by more shocking officiating, cracked the bar and drilled another just wide. First half they were both schocking, making that 120 minutes of dire football. Second half they were little more than good. However if they can replicate the performance more often than that I would be satisfied. The sooner KT returns from injury to bolster the midfield and add much needed grit and energy the better.
  19. With the previous two games performance I owuld not be happy letting Hutton go, unless SW can replicate Hutton's marauding runs from full back, as he did for his former club. Totally agree with what you say though. The makings of a very good side, minus one or two players.
  20. Wonder if they'll spin this as much in our favour as they did the G14 nonsense. Was that just a made up media story to try and boost their profile and dent ours?
  21. The ridiculous of postponing the OF is looking ever greater. Not that PO'Ds death was the dark side's really motivation anyway.
  22. Guardian Blog on the 6 "best" stadia in Britain. In here for obvious reasons I feel.
  23. Could do with a win, not had one in a while. Admittedly hadn't been gambling for a while due to problem accessing my online account. Gotta get away from putting the massive coupons on again, better to win a little than not win a lot.
  24. :box: With more time I would've swapped. Late notice.
  25. True class from Hearts there.
