C'mon Riordan scores more goals than him, Naismith has more zip. Thompson is by nomenas any sort of long term solution. Starting spots will be between miller, mcfadden and boyd the other striker would be a back-up/supersub. Who would you rather see come off the bench when you are needing a bit of magic for the breakthrough against Georgia?

McFadden has done his metatarsel. Webster is out for another 4 weeks. Gary Caldwell is still injured too. I was so trying to give him the benefit of the doubt, but just one wee interesting inclusion in a squad that size would have been nice.

So that;ll be all that exciting young talent Eck was talking about. Stevie Smith anyone? Shaun Maloney? Steven Whittiker? Steven Naismith? Chuffing nora it's all gone pete tong already.

Thought Walter has said he wasn't getting a deal?

The question was how many great ex-Gers. These guys were pretty much the last great ex-Gers!!!

Shoulda gone to Specsavers!!!

Andy Watson shold never be let near the national team. That's a bloody joke!!

I actually think Burke is better playing more centrally. I don't think his crossing is good enough for a winger and prefer him coming inside and driving at the penalty area or slipping balls through for the strikers.

Aly McCoist started at St Johnstone. Andy Goram from Hibs. John Brown from Dundee.

To be honest, and I said this when PLG took over, wat I would be happy with is the beginings of a squad that could challenge on all fronts for the next 5 years whilst showing signs of Murray Park coming to fruition. And Jessica Alba emplyed by Raners to accompany me to any games I choose to attend.

Ooooh so cynical. You never know, he might make the breakthrough like N'Guessen, Fetai, Stanger...

Taxi for Libor. We'll have a whip-round!!
-
I lke him, think he'sgot a lot of talent, but he's one of these luxury players that you have to lay in the right position and be i a position to accept that he's not gonna get muddy! Unfortuately, not what we need, but like Shota I'll be sorry to see him go.

Gordon is gonna be a great keeper for the next 10-15 years. Surely if we could pull out the stops to get him, that would be one position sorted for a long time to come. As for Neilson, well Stewarty would be better then Hutton s get him in!!
-
Good luck if that's true to him, and I'll get behind him, but I don't think he's the right man for the job. I think Jim Jefferies would have been a good appointment.

Zat Knight and Papa Bouba Diop from Fulham. Naismith from Killie, Anderson fro the Sheep, Brown and Whittiker from Hibs. Probably about 12 million for that lot. Anyone fancy a whip-round?

Another one for the "False Murray Promises" thread...?
juffery replied to bmck's topic in Rangers Chat
To be honest, it would take so much more than £8 million to get us out of bother. We need an entire new team. Of the current squad as first team players only Smith, Boyd and Adam should stay. I'm still not sure of Mcgregor although he's done pretty well, we need to revamp the centre midfield and relying on Boyd's goals will only get us so far. Murray, Burke, McGregor should stay as squad players. -
I agree that Rae doesn't really have it to be captain but who's left? Smith is too young, Dado's not fit enough to rely on, Boyd isn't inspirational enough, keepers sholdn't be captain, Hutton's rank. I would maybe have considered hemdani until his comments about the 'Scottish clan'.

Part of the problem is that we've been spoiled by the quality we've had in the past. Looking back at the centre backs that I can remember Gough, Butcher, Bomber, Roberts, Hendry, Amoruso have all been commanding, dominant and leaders regardless of their faults. They have all played with Rangers at their hearts and been willing to put their bodies in the line to help rangers get places. Unfortunately there aren't that many of these players about now and I also think the quality that they play against week in week out is now higher. Virtually every team in the SPL has a striker that can be seen as a danger man, whereas before that wasn't the case. I don't think it is just about spending millions on someone who is a technically good defender, it is more about getting a defender who has the personality that can match those I mentioned. Someone like Russell Anderson maybe isn't the strongest physically, but I think he has the personality to lead a defence. Equally, Andy Webster has the height and strength but I don't see him as the lead defender but more the back-up, the Craig Moore to Amoruso. We also need to think about strenghtening right back. Hutton is woeful and we really need another option there.

Don't think that J-Rod was that bad. About 9 months ago all the talk on here was about who should partner him in defence as he was the one who looked good in the 2nd half of last season. And he was never one to grumble about stuff to the press, just tried to do his job.

That's a shame, he's a cracking wee player. Definately a step up from Sebo!

I don't think BF should have been captain in the first place. He just isn't the right sort of player - always makes me think of Paul McStay. Being made captain ruined him as a player and has pretty much done for Barry as well. In the meantime, probably leave it with Rae but we'll have to see who Walter brings in.
