Joey Barton - Is there a way back?

Recommended Posts

We pay a lot of money for these guys to play football. We are entitled to expect that they will know, and observe, any rules about gambling.

Agreed. It's unacceptable and completely unprofessional.

I've worked for a few bookies taking bets over the phone and the amount of footballers that had accounts were crazy. They were all mug punter too they'd bet on camels racing in a dessert if there was a book.

Perhaps a specific bet by Joey put certain noses out of place.

He bet on Celtic to lose by three goals or more against Barcelona

Some might call that more of an investment than a bet.

The betting thing's no big deal and won't have much of a bearing on his situation here. He'll likely get a one match ban which he'll serve while he is still too unfit to play anyway.

I still reckon he'll be back on the bench before the end of the month and if he can't break into the team by mid January, he will be sold before the end of the next window.

If look at ians twitter link (post #69) you'll see he joked about the rules two years ago!!!

At the rate Barton is going since he joined...he should probably be about ready to play around his 40th birthday.
