Last night, a heavily sweating Brian McLauchlin stood in the foreground, as various Sellik players ran around behind. There was a wide shot with Ryan Christie sitting on his own, might explain McLauchlin's gentle glow? Brian articulated Peter's perception of grievance, then he interviewed ra Sellik skipper, Scott Brown. Despite constant Lego mastication, Broonaldo expressed all his own thoughts, honest. Ryan Christie's suspension is laughable and all ra Sellik are asking is for consistency. Maybe Brian will find more objectivity when he interviews some Dandy Dons tonight? Reference consistency with the Compliance Officer, in the last two years; ra Sellik have been cited once, and Ryan Christie once. Rangers have been cited on five occasions, and eleven Rangers players have been cited. Odds of times eight in ra Sellik's favour, how much more consistency do they need?5 points

In all honesty, I suspect Gerrard's appointment has a lot to do with the increased viewing figures due to his status with football fans all over the world.5 points

Jordan Campbell has written another excellent article at The Athletic. I don't agree with copying and pasting from there but I'll share some of the points he made. Barisic has played in 22 of the last 23 games (the accusation last season was that he was made of glass) He shared a heatmap showing the average position of Rangers players in the 3-0 win over Hibs and Barisic was the 3rd furthest forward player behind only Morelos and Aribo (further forward than Kent) More assists than Tavernier despite the stats showing he is less involved in the play (less actions, passes, crosses), but much more involved than he was last season Osijek's strategy was to switch play to him fast so he has space and Goldson is finding him much more often with long passes and the average distance of his passes to him is up massively Don't want to share too much but hopefully that gives an idea. If you aren't signed up I'd suggest doing so as it's good quality Rangers journalism and with a referral link you can get it for £2.99 a month. https://theathletic.com/1501631/2020/01/08/how-borna-barisic-rebalanced-rangers/3 points

Posting it twice also allowed me (at least) to see something I'd previously missed. There's no downside.2 points

Barisic and Jordan Campbell have turned out to be great signings for their respective employers. I'm really impressed by his analysis and writing. He really puts the other rag writers to shame. As for Barisic, we've got a real international class player and he can be a big part of our success this season.2 points

https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11788/11903466/rangers-boss-steven-gerrard-says-no-point-getting-violin-out-over-decisions-in-scottish-football Video via link. Manager appears relaxed, focused and in no mood to concede the excellent ground we've made on Celtic. Vital we maintain momentum and don't make the same mistakes we seen last January & February. Bring on next week!2 points

I think this is a brilliant partnership. If others can't successfully punish that other lot, we now have a partner who can. We will see your Hollicom and raise you a provider of missiles and tanks. GIRUY.2 points

What this means is that 1.4 million people, or thereby, saw top whistler, Mr Kevin Clancy. That, surely, must worry the authorities.2 points

"appetite ... for Scottish football" So where was that "appetite" when Rangers were cast into the lower leagues? No one gives a shit about Scottish football, they're watching now because Rangers are back, no other reason.2 points

Reference the other Bluenose on Off the Ball, he was a Crofter from Harris/Lewis and was on to publicise his up coming TV series on BBC Alba. A year on a Croft will offer an insight into real island living. Of course, the alternative is Ian Blackford, humble Crofter/Hedge Fund manager. I am sure one of them regularly castrates lambs utilising their teeth? It was probably the presence of Amy Irons and the Crofter that irked DrStu', his conclusion on St Johnstone handing over three stands to Glasgow's big two; was the type of deal he prefers, "Rangers give us half a million for Michael O'Halloran and then they hand him back for nothing a few weeks later". DrStu' labeled the Crofter, "a glory hunter" after he revealed his support for Rangers. BBC Scotland for the second year running has sent a camera crew and Brian McLauchlin to Dubai to cover ra Sellik's winter break training camp. Last night, we had an interview with James Forrest. Tonight, like last year, it will be Aberdeen. On Wednesday, it will be Lennon/Kennedy, ...... etc. Like last year, BBC License fee paying Rangers supporters will receive no coverage of their team training a mile down the road. At some point, Michael Stewart will be given at least another two/three opportunities to utter, 'I don't like the way Rangers do things as a club'.2 points

#1 https://twitter.com/i/web/status/1215038179943833600 Steven Gerrard slams Alfredo Morelos' Rangers critics and claims there's an agenda to 'kill' striker's career The Ibrox gaffer didn't hold back as he defended the Colombian from criticism aimed at him since the derby victory at Celtic Park. By Gary Ralston 22:30, 8 JAN 2020 Steven Gerrard has accused jealous rivals of trying to kill the Rangers career of Alfredo Morelos. The Ibrox boss claims there is an agenda to drive the Colombian striker out of Scottish football and undermine their title challenge. Celtic fingered Morelos in a recent statement for his cut throat gesture to their fans after Rangers claimed he was subjected to racist abuse by home supporters following his red card in the recent Old Firm game. The Parkhead club have also been angered after Ryan Christie was hit with a three match ban but no action was taken against Morelos over clashes with Christie, Scott Brown and Anthony Ralston in a game last season. Former Parkhead striker Chris Sutton also claimed Morelos, who has scored 28 goals this season, should cop at least a five game ban for his gesture in the aftermath of his dismissal on December 29, which Rangers insist meant only ‘game over’. Bullish Gerrard, speaking from his club’s mid-winter training camp in Dubai, also told rivals to get their own house in order as he went on the front foot in defence of his player. Gerrard said: “Is Alfredo perfect right now? No. Will he makes a few mistakes going forward? I predict he probably will, but a lot of the fallout and the opinion, people do want to kill him. “People want to see him on the other side of the world for good. You also have to understand where that’s coming from and the reasons why it’s getting said. “It’s because he is a threat, it’s because he scores big goals and is a big player for Rangers. He is one of the big reasons and the key factors that, if we are to be successful, they know it will be largely down to his goals and his contribution. “We understand all that, there’s no problem. The most important thing for us is that he’s going to help us massively in the second half of the season. “The people that fire the negativity also have to also remember what they have got under their roof as well. Not everyone is perfect in other teams as well. “I’m not going to sit here and paint a picture that Alfredo’s an angel or he’s perfect but what I can guarantee is he’s doing everything he can to improve.” Morelos has been given additional time off to spend with his family in Cerete as he misses the next three games as a result of suspensions picked up in the Premiership and Scottish Cup. Gerrard has also backed the statement released by Rangers in the aftermath of their Parkhead victory that stated the cut throat gesture by Morelos was lost in cultural translation. Gerrard also spoke of his respect for Hoops boss Neil Lennon as he swatted aside criticism from former Parkhead frontman John Hartson, who claimed his handshake at the end of the match should have been more chivalrous. Gerrard added: “Listen, it’s an emotional game. You guys have been around me every time I have spoken about Neil Lennon and Celtic and I have shown nothing but respect. That will continue to be the same. “As a pundit, I have been there and they all have to please their bosses and try and create headlines and go a little bit outside the box. “I have nothing but respect for John Hartson. I’ve had people firing bullets my way since I was 18 years of age. My shield is up and that will continue, no problem. “In terms of the celebrations, it is my responsibility to make sure the players celebrate in the right way. “That individual situation (Morelos) is one that the club have already dealt with and spoken about. It is important people know it is not something we ignore or forget. “We always try to ask the players to behave and celebrate in the right way. “We’ll deal with it (the charge) if it comes. We can’t control the decisions that are made by other people but, if they come, we’ll deal with it. “The Ryan Christie situation is for Neil Lennon to talk about, it’s for Celtic to deal with. “In terms of consistency across the board with referees and getting cited, all the managers are going to ask for consistency - especially when you’re on the wrong side of it. “Prior to that, we’ve had decisions that haven’t gone our way. A Cup Final went against us because of a decision. “We never got a penalty up at Aberdeen. Look, you can cry wolf, you can get the violin out if you want but the reality is, you have to get on with it. “Whatever comes our way, positive or negative, we’ll deal with it and move on.”1 point

International class ? His performances have been better than that don’t you think? ? After attending the YoungBoys game last month I read a match report describe Barasic as a class above everyone else on the pitch. He was. Sadly though I can’t see him being with us next season.1 point

I forgot about Fleck. He's a perfect example of a kid tipped for big, big things, one with obvious talent when he was young, but who simply didn't develop it with us. He couldn't get into Ally's first side and was out on loan at Blackpool and struggling to get a game for them. It was Coventry who figured out his best position and gave him regular game time. He doesn't look out of place in the English top flight now, good on him.1 point

I think that there's been great strides made over the past 18 months or so and it's arguably the best it's ever been, and I'd rather have our youth set up and this crop of kids than swap it with any other in Scotland.1 point

They can still look at Tierney, Johnston though. There are more from their Academy that have broken through than ours - and the discussion we were having wasn't about "recent" - it was in general - we were talking over years, back to even Barry Ferguson.1 point

I would normally agree - however, the issue with this is quite simply.... Scotland, plus UEFA. No team in Scotland will pay us significant money to take our players. And if any of our better youngsters sign cross country agreements then the standard training fee is a pittance. The only reason we got 600k for Gilmour is because Chelsea wanted to ensure they got him, otherwise the fee would have been, I believe, less than half of that.1 point
-
Exactly this. In speaking to someone within the club that is their main frustration - very few of our youngsters see the progression into the 1st team - they pointed out the likes of Forrest, McGregor, Tierney across the city, which is a fair enough example.... however, as I also pointed out to him... those players broke through when Celtic had absolutely zero competition and it was much easier to do so - when winning the league by 30 points they could have playd their whole youth team for a half dozen games with no impact. What will be more interesting to see is whether Celtic maintain that now that they have a genuine challenge. I personally doubt they do.1 point

Thank´s elfideldo !! With Leon King looking likely to follow the Billy Gilmour route, the problem seems to be the ability level that stands out, does so to other more resourced clubs in more attractive leagues...and therefore we don´t get the cream of our own crop to tread a pathway into the first team.1 point

I think that conclusion is starting to dawn on a lot of supporters now. The changes made in the summer of 2018 are turning out to be more profound than we realised at the time.1 point
