  1. We'll just close this thread. We can all agree that Bassey is a beast!

  2. Goldson played every minute of every game (almost) we'll struggle to get that from any other CH. Given we can play 60+ games a season we need 4 or 5 CH. Balogun has experience and is a known quantity so less of a gamble and worth keeping IMO but not at the expense of signing a quality replacement for Goldson.

  3. We both are wrong. Apparently it is June 10th - weird date but there you have it.

  4. Cheap deal, known quantity, reliable, dependable, loves the club. Good enough for me.

  5. Sometimes you just lose. There are always things to point a finger at when Rangers lose a game but “we blew it” suggests a degree of either intent or avoidable negligence. I doubt anyone who took the field in blue last Wednesday was aware of doing anything to contribute to our defeat. Sure the performance was less than it could have been but imo it’s wrong to say we blew it.

  6. Exactly to sort of fellow who will help new arrivals to settle in the dressing room.

  7. other than CB we are certainly well covered in all the defensive positions. What we really need are goals. Goals from Midfield, the wings and up front.

  8. King should be getting games for the first team. He is good enough so should be used. Only issue is if Bassey is beside him then we have little experience through the middle at CB. King can be used in rotations

  9. To me giving Balogun a year's extension is a no-brainer,as we have done with Arfield and hopefully Davis, I agree that we have to strengthen first team choices but to have players who are prepared to be of a strength on the bench is as important.

  10. We need to get better quality but given Souttar has injury issues, Goldson is leaving, Katic is out of the picture, a 1 year deal for Balogun as cover might be a good idea (don't think he'd be difficult to deal with)

  11. Oh, come off it r_s. It's blindingly obvious to any of us who have been on this forum for any length of time that you've deliberately cultivated an online persona and a style of posting that's designed to get under other people's skin. If that's what you want to do fair enough, although I have no idea what it is that you get out of it. What you've got to understand though, is that for most of us this forum is a leisure activity that we have a limited amount of time to enjoy. On the Rangers Chat section particularly, we're here for some friendly banter with fellow fans. I'm sorry to say it, but interacting with you (or even observing you interacting with others) carries with it a severe fun deficit. There are very few times when I find reading your needling, nit-picking and haranguing posts a worthwhile use of time. I doubt I'm alone in feeling this way. As I said, if that's really how you wish to post, fair enough, but don't be surprised if you end up on a few ignore lists.

  12. Agreed regarding CH, that's why I think a 1 year deal for Balogan wouldn't be worst move.

  13. we desperately need to finally find a replacement for Candeias. 3 years now that has dragged on. Then CH needs work. Very encouraged by Soutter on Saturday.

  15. Haha, we definitely need to sign that Lovelace kid - just for the bants West Brom have released Sam Johnstone - he would be a good pick up at GK to challenge McLaughlin IMO

  16. We aren't ever winning the CL.... so gibe me the CL group, a drop to Europa and that final every year will be fine - or even the Conference final

  17. Hopefully OK to post this - The Rangers Review interview with Clive Tyldesley from sometime last week (Pre-EL final). Gives some insight into how he got the RTV gig during Covid, his friendships in football and friendships he's made durimg his time at RTV etc. Warning - contains some Stevie Gerrard content so might not be for every one....

  20. Yeah. I think we need a CB (or two) to replace Goldson. We clearly need another striker given we had to finish the season playing a false 9. And we definitely could be doing with a creative "10" who also can find the back of the net. We don't need wholesale change - the nucleus of that team is still under 25/26 (Bassey, Aribo, Kent, Wright, Morelos) - we should be building around them rather than looking for wholesale changes.

  21. If you want "visible by the most blind horse" here you go : 1. Aribo isnt a striker 2. Garner, Waghorn are strikers 3. Garner, Waghorn, even as strikers, havent played in a European final and never will. 4. I liked Waghorn but, yes, neither her nor Garner are Rangers standard 5. Aribo played the exact way he was asked to play last week. 6. We deliberately played a false 9, ergo we played without a striker, just as Man City have done this season 7. Aribo still scored on Wednesday night despite not being a striker 8. Aribo also went close in the first half with a curled effort just past the post, despite not being a striker 9. Aribo had more proper chances than any of his team-mates, despite not being a striker 10. Aribo wasn't being asked to chase around the Frankfurt defence, that job was clearly being requested of Wright and Kent to drop in and help the midfield 3 11. Aribo's job was to receive the ball, hold it up, bring others into the game, given we didnt have a recognised striker 12. If you have an issue with "10" above then it should be with Gio, not Aribo. He did the job he was asked to do, scored our only goal, and had more attempts at goal than his team mates. I would contend that he actually did the job he was asked to do. 13. I am not trolling. Just because you disagree with what I say or dislike what I say, doesnt make it trolling. 14. All of the points I make above, IMHO, clearly explain why I am not trolling, as I say at 13 above. 15. Aribo in the last couple of weeks has carried out that role well, he has grown into it. 16. You can say Aribo didn't suit that role or "hardly impressed" there all you like - who else was going to play in that position in the final ? A completely unfit Roofe ? An unfit Ramsey ? A fit Sakala who Gio seems to prefer coming off the bench when opponents are tired and can be stretched ? 17. What were you actually expecting him to do in that heat ? Were you expecting him to be chasing all across the back line or chasing down the keeper all night ? 18. Given we won the SC, were robbed (or robbed ourselves of the league), and made the Europa League final...... I would say that it is just as well that we have Gio in charge and not you... or indeed me. 19. Some of my "likers" - dB, I am not here for likes, that isnt my style. If people happen to agree with what I say so be it. Likewise if they disagree. Does it mean I (and they by extension) are right ? No, not necessarily. Does it mean I (and they by extension) are wrong ? No, not necessarily. I even like plenty of your posts To finish, I WILL partially troll...... the only surprise in your posts here is that you haven't, from what I can tell, gone after your preferred whipping boy of Ryan Kent yet.

  24. Bucketful on Monday after getting to Faro. Couldnt sleep on the Tuesday because of thinking about the game. Up til 4am Wednesday into Thursday and flight back to Cork of all places at 1am in the morning 7 hour layover. Got back about 10am on the Friday morning. I dunno how our guys do it every European trip. Would do it again next season for the CL Final

  25. Yes but apart from that! Striker (even a played-out-of-position one) scores goal = job done.

  26. We need a reliable robust CB to replace Goldson that can perform to a similar standard. Not an easy task. I think given we could potentially be playing Wednesday/Saturday for an entire season the players that struggle to play 1 game a week need to be overlooked.

  27. I really want to see Lewis Mayo get a shot. He played a lot of games for Partick last season.

  28. It wasn't an unreasonable loan deal at the time and it's hard to see any value of being a smart arse and sniping from the sidelines after the event.

  32. I'd imagine Gio will have eyes on the Eredivisie. It would be unusual for a Dutch manager not to bring a few compatriots into the playing squad.

  33. I'm probably wrong but I thought Wilson stated prior to January window that we didn't need to sell and had money to back the manager. Given my failing memory, I can't remember if that pre-dated the AGM! No matter, I think the board will find it difficult to defend not giving Gio money to invest in the squad during this transfer window (be it money we've made in Europe or from a sale of a player, or a combination or both).

  37. I don't know if I have ever heard Cosgrove in his Off the ball slot, to be so transparently bitter, contrived ('Barack Obama running a bus' involved) and desperate to push a customary narrative,......and that is saying something. After nineteen years, the batteries of the Suville calculator have finally run out. Yesterday, Cosgrove said the Suville calculator "...is dead, no-one cares about it anymore...". Apparently he is sick of over-exaggeration and it took 19 years until the threshold was reached, so he had to comment and call time on such a device. Obviously, he didn't send this memo to Jane Dougall and her line about 250,000 rioting in Manchester. They seem to want it both ways. For those who would like to hear exactly what was said (not compulsory and please don't bore the world with the repetitive 'why would anyone want to listen to that' line) it comes up at 1hr 44min 45sec into the link below) https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m0017l2q
