  3. I don't particularly like it. The song is celebratory in nature, which doesn't give the support any credit, given the nature of the subject matter. I also feel it allows some to use it to ignore the issues. It's an important subject that needs highlighted in the best way possible, but singing BJK isn't it, and does more harm than good, in my opinion.

  4. That is absolutely fair enough, it just looks like a complete waste of cash to this observer from the other end of the ground when you see what they come up with time after time for huge sums of money. But if they are happy with it thats nice for them. Now if only they would actually put their feckin flags down during the action so anyone unlucky enough to be within several rows of them can see the game instead of the back of a UB flag that would be wonderful. Not that it matters to most of them as from my experience they rarely watch much of the game anyway.

  5. This one is quite sensible compared to other forums and Twitter. Not to mention some of the nonsense I have heard on some of the random podcasts out there.

  6. I've got whiplash from all these contrasting player opinions from last night: Ridvan is poor, a shadow of Barisic; Yilmaz strolled it, a tidy performance, big future. Ure is miles off being a Rangers player, poor; He had a good game, worked hard, has a future as a big target man. Devine doesn't have the pace or quality to be anything more than back-up; He did well, 'I like the look of him'. King had a poor game, slack on the ball; Impressed, did well, looked assured.

  7. Rangers v Dundee Kilmarnock v Dundee Utd Aberdeen v Partick Thistle Motherwell v Celtic That´ll dae nicely !! * Quarter-finals Midweek of October 18-20, 2022 Possible Old and New Firm in the semi-finals Last time we played Dundee in the League Cup, John Fleck scored in a 1-3 away win. We went onto lift the Cup beating Celtic in the final (2011). Haven't won it since. Time to get back to winning this trophy.

  8. No, I didn't. I brought a funny pic with a public figure of ridicule for nearly all, regardless of party. I made a joke. If you don't find it funny, no problems, just don't look too hard to be offended.

  9. Should have had 4 or 5 yesterday. He is getting in the right positions, as Jason Hold did in his first season, before being used ever deeper in midfield. Tillman and Lawrence too, so there is a "new" threat from that area. Likewise, despite a rather mediocre showing yesterday, Matondo also likes to get into the area AND likes to shoot. So there is a threat that we haven`t really had for some time, even though Wright grew into that role and likes a pop at goal too. Things Aribo and Kamara haven`t done or don`t do that much. Another thing, Ridvan looked rather willing too. I actually wondered whether we might think about playing him ahead of Barisic, for he likes to take on players and have a pop himself. He is 20, fearless and willing. Our older players, Kent, Kamara, Aribo and Co. started to think rather than play, losing the advantage the situation presents and rather often, get crowded out or closed down. Hence, young and new blood is needed - every now and then. I for one look forward to see Hagi and Tillman play along one another, as much as I look forward to see another proper striker alongside Colak.

  10. He had his moments, especially the winner at Porkheid. Bestof luck to him.

  15. We are now very light middle to front. Hagi ..... months away Lowry.... Months away Roofe.... Intermittently available Lawrence... weeks away Morelos ? Tillman (needs managed)

  16. Job done, through to the next round which is what it is all about. The fact we made 11 changes, resting every one of our starting 11 for the OF game, was an added bonus. I have long since given up on thinking games like last night will be entertaining or enlightening, they just never are, so I prefer to focus on getting a glimpse of the young guns getting some competitive action, and I thought most of them did pretty well without looking outstanding. Perhaps this is why we have such a bloated first team squad, the next level down is a very long way down? Unfair on any of the young ones to judge on one game, so I hope they all got to take something out the game to push onwards and upwards to see where they need to get to. Of more concern is the performances of the ones who are a big part of our first team squad, on big wages, who didn't look out of place in a game against 3rd tier opposition. Time to move Sakala on for definite, and Matondo had a stinker but I think is a better player than on show last night. I exclude Davis and Arfield from that comment as they both performed well. As for our £3.4M left back, I think he looks completely lost most of the time, but what an absolutely sublime touch he showed to set up the second goal. I could watch that all day, beautiful, and that is more like the player our scouts must have been thinking we were buying. Clearly going to be in the "takes time to settle" category. Ross County at ibrox next round please!

  17. Exactly. It's unfortunate that he's been injured otherwise we could have sold him this window for a half decent price. The opportunity cash in on someone who was our biggest saleable asset 3 years ago has MAYBE gone. Let's just hope he buckles down and helps us win the title this season if he does go for free next summer.

  18. Alfredo holds the cards and can stay if he wants, running down the last year of his contract. What do we get from him is the question. A committed footballer, a half arsed approach or the customary, mixture of the two ? If he were to switch on to his professional side, it would be hugely helpful for our title aspirations. If not, he'd be better out of the building. The same conundrum since August 2018 but this time, entering the last year of his contract. We'd have been better to move him on 4 years ago IMO.

  19. Online football fans are generally a bit deranged, particularly of the Rangers variety. Christ, you even get some upset about us singing BJK. 🤣

  20. Shame because in one moment v West Ham he showed frightening pace. Maybe he's one of those players with pace who lacks basic game intelligence?

  21. Those opinions were not necessarily from here, to be fair. The sheer contrast is incredible, though.

  22. Ironically other than scoring I didn't think Ure did very much. His goal was well taken and should be applauded, that it came from a piece of poor control by him in the first place adds to the irony. If that points to him being a 'lucky' striker I'll take that. I think the last forward we actually produced was Gary McSwegan so we're well overdue someone coming through that can score goals. I look forward to seeing him get some more game time this season. I thought King did well, he was partnered with an experienced player but not a defender so he had to take more responsibility. He could do with a Goldson or a Helander (or a Weir) beside him for a few months to talk him through games. Ridvan and Devine also played well I felt, both are a bit slight but they'll get game time as the season goes on. I worry that Matondo is this season's Diallo/Oduwa/Zalalem/Weiss. A player with loads of ability and clear potential but missing the certain something to pull it all together.

  23. The amount invested is obviously important, but It is mostly about getting recruitment right and picking the right players to fit in with what your aims are. Second spell, Walter could put together an experienced team that he could trust to carry out a game plan without having to think of a player trading model. He was allowed to bring in his players and generally got it right, especially in defence, eg. Cuellar, Weir, etc Over the City,...... with the controlling Peter out of the way, the Fat Aussie was given free reign to bring in his players, unfortunately he got his recruitment spot-on and after predictable teething problems they were able to overhaul us with consistent results and a mentality that could win OF league games. We need to get this window right so we can get automatic qualification for next season's CL. So far, we see some positive signs and some not so positive. I think we need more quality in depth middle to front or we'll continue to ship points in occasional frustrating draws against provincial pish that they will turn over. That brings us to the OF games. Saturday is massive and we can't allow them to lay down a marker and take a 5 point advantage. Good or/and bad, we'll find out a lot about our side at the weekend.

  26. Assuming anyone who likes a Union Flag is a Tory or right wing is part of the reason the Labour party find themselves in such a mess. The display against Inter, with a big Union Flag and two Saltires, looked magnificent.

  28. Yeah not sure he can play 2 games a week. We probably wont see Davis or Jack on Saturday either.

  32. The name-calling doesn't do either side any favours. Some people want a football match to be a nice, polite place, where any songs, chants or banners are ethical and responsible. The rest of us enjoy the tribalism, rivalry and nastiness that is being gradually sucked out of it. The former lot are definitely winning and should be glad that the nasty elements will soon be priced out of attending matches, so they can enjoy their pleasant match days in peace and tranquility. 😀

  33. If Hatchet says it it will be true. We absolutely desperately need an attacking number 8 at a bare minimum here.

  34. Arfield and Davis played well but I'm going for Yilmaz, who looked really good.

  35. Skov olsen would have solved so many of our issues. Can play right back. Would have allowed us to send Devine out on loan to et him valuable experience.

  37. I thought Matondo looked promising against West Ham but he's not really stated his claim for the right side of attack since then. Bit worrying.

  38. Aye, so far the hat contains.... Rangers Partick Thistle Dundee Aberdeen Livingston or Dundee Utd Hearts or Killie Ross County or Celtic Motherwell or Inverness The preverbial home draw please,.... against Ross County pretty please with cream on top -------------- From my starting XI, McCann was the player that missed out. Real shame, we know what Davis can do. McCann should have got at least 45 minutes. King is very good and I am happy for him to be considered as a first team player and get increasing exposure at that level. He is the type of player, at the type of age that could perform well for several years and then bring in a big fee if his contract is managed well. Devine as back up to Tav, no problem. No need for more backups at RB #pathway Ure is raw but is only 18 and has scored his first goal in the first team.

  39. A routine victory in the end and some inconsistency across the 90mins was to be expected with so many changes and players with not a lot of minutes of late. Impressed with a few of the younger lads but it was the old stagers in Davis and Arfield that showed their class. Now onto a tougher schedule of fixtures!

  40. In the hat and move on. Arfield Motm for me. Davis good but tired. Sakala fell out the game second half too.
