Yes, Sakala brings enthusiasm and a directness that has been sadly lacking. As for contribution and end product, didn't he lay on a goal for Morelos and at least two more chances that should have been taken? Didn't he dispossess opponents deep in his own half on more than one occasion? He seems to me to be one of the last players we should be critical of.7 points

I'll keep my powder dry until the real experts in the Celtc support have collected thier giro money, seen our accounts and written a 18,000 word blog on how we are going into admin again next Tuesday.7 points

Yes he did and that's not his first performance like that. His end product was awful v Dundee of course but even Candeias wasn't perfect.5 points

How can you go from being one of the fittest hardest working teams around to this embarrassment in the space of six months? No hunger, no desire, bereft of leadership, no belief, a complete destruction of player value. It's as if we've swapped double expresso's for mogadons.3 points

This is Wilson's and the board's job, not the fans. He needs to be held to account.3 points

It’s a lot better than many previous Boards. I don’t see many volunteers coming forward to replace them. Again who would you like to see on the Board? Genuine question.3 points

Plzen, a worse team than us, in a more difficult group, are putting up more of a fight.3 points

Its a virgin on the internet who posts made up nonsense for attention.3 points

I can take being bottom of the group, what I can't take is the manner of how it happened not once, not twice but six f*&king times. We basically regressed with each and every game. Not one single player comes out of that campaign with any credit whatsoever not one single player.2 points

But you should expect the team to at least compete , not stand off and admire the opposition .2 points

I'd like to reiterate, we need a new manager if we want to win this league. GvB doesn't have it.2 points

We know there's a financial gulf, but that doesn't excuse these capitulations. There's a comparative gulf between ourselves and Livingston, and they could have beaten us!2 points

We were embarrassing dogshite in this tournament. We didn't even put up a fight, we just lay down and got buggered. It was a truly pathetic display over the course of the group stage. No one expected to do well in this tournament, but I did think we would turn up and give it our best shot. That wasn't our best shot.2 points

At the moment: in Six (6) games We've scored one (1) goal. We've conceded what, nineteen (19). We may well finish tonight's business as the worst team ever to grace the CL Group Stages. So far, so inexcusable.2 points

I’m not going to blame an 18 year old trainee who shouldn’t be asked to carry the Rangers defence on his shoulders.2 points

If we had a forward who was consistently on form, with excellent stats, he'd be off to a bigger league fairly soon. Sakala at least looks consistently enthusiastic.2 points

Wingers are inherently inconsistent. No question both need to be producing more end product.2 points

Yes this is how we do it. Everything is polarised and no one ever changes thier mind on anything. Part of the Football forum internet rules.2 points

We were a spot kick away from beating Frankfurt, who have since qualified for the CL last-16. We've been embarrassed. I don't expect us to win every game, merely put up a fight (that could still involve finishing 4th). GvB should've been able to do that - he did it last year, although now I'm thinking it's because of the work SG did - but he hasn't. Your financial gulf argument doesn't cut it. Plzen put up more of a fight with less resources. I can most definitely blame the manager. A different manager puts up more of a fight - I know SG would.1 point

Not trying to argue anything. Facts show GVB got us to EL final last season and got us to CL this season. Performances in CL have shown we are well below the level required to compete at that level. Don't think that changes no matter who the manager is.1 point

A EL final, a Scottish Cup trophy and CL qualification in just over 12 months in charge. Hard act to follow? If his successor doesn't match this is he sacked after 12 months? Serious question that potential candidates will ask? We need stability - if Gio isn't the person to take us forward then what expectations do you have for his successor and how long are they given to deliver?1 point
-
The problem is who replaces GVB and how the board sell the position. We may be an attractive proposition for a young and upcoming manager who wants to gamble that they can take us forward. Alternatively is a currently unemployed manager who would see us a stepping stone back into management. The next "Gerrard-like" manager may well be out there, we just need to find him1 point
-
Agree. I said before that I think the run to the EL final last season was due to the momentum we had in Europe thanks to Gerrard and although we were not firing fully domestically we did hold a 6 pint advantage at the top when GvB came in. He threw the lead away is regressing further this season (even factoring in the step up to the CL). He will not be winning anything at Rangers, but we'll stick with him anyway...until the end of the season at the very least.1 point

Between another lethargic display and another 90 minutes of Kevin Thomson droning on, that was a pretty soul destroying game to watch.1 point

Ignominious: causing or deserving of public humiliation and/or shame. Sums up the CL endeavours neatly and accurately, for me.1 point

Remember John Bennet told us a few short weeks ago that this is the best squad we've had.1 point

Matondo way too late coming on. A goal contribution within 2 minutes of coming on. The jury is very much out but he should be getting more opportunities given the competition he has.1 point

More money, better players, deeper squad … against a threadbare squad of journeymen. What do we think will happen? So sad to watch but we’re in entirely the wrong company in this competition.1 point
