  1. Cantwell is that magic creator that people thought Kent was. Great signing.

  2. This was one of my concerns with Beale being appointed manager: not giving youngsters a chance. He says he likes to work with young players, but when has he ever given them a chance? SG, likewise, didn't give them a chance.

  9. Apart from involvement in our goal. Today is one of those days where I'm regretting making the effort getting to Ibrox. Would have been better out for a nice walk enjoying the weather, instead of watching this rubbish and feeling my BP rising 😀

  10. Tillman has been no worse than Alfie, Borna, Tav and Davies. Very few get pass marks in 1st half.

  11. I know we had an article almost criticising Benfica's youth approach - because they can't keep their good teams together long enough to challenge in Europe - but it's still a good model to copy or learn from. When one of their top players is injured or sold, they draft in youngsters. They may be talented, but they're completely untested and inexperienced. They're thrown into the deep end. They had a 19-year-old CB playing in the quarter-finals of the CL midweek. And they also need to win every week.

Pablo Torre (20 years old) has not had the expected prominence in his first season at Barça and there is the possibility that the young midfielder will go on loan in the summer to be able to have more regular minutes and continue his growth. Xavi Hernández recognized that the Spaniard is "the best player in the squad at set pieces", but despite the casualties that have occurred in recent games, he has not had opportunities to demonstrate his talent and a loan could be the best solution to not slow down its progression. Despite only a few minutes with the first team, Pablo Torre is still a valued player and an old suitor could resume interest in the midfielder if Barça's exit door opens. We are talking about the Scottish Rangers, a team that already tried to sign Pablo Torre last summer but the footballer ended up opting for the Catalans' proposal, who paid five million euros to Racing Santander to get him to join. Rangers have been successful this season with the loan of Malik Tillman, Bayern Munich's attacking midfielder who has scored 12 goals in 40 games, and could repeat the formula with Pablo Torre according to the latest information coming from Scotland. If Rangers' bet is confirmed, Pablo Torre would have the opportunity to play in the Champions League next season. Waiting for news, Pablo Torre remains focused on ending the season with Barça in the best possible way and is confident of having more minutes in this final stretch of the season, with LaLiga on track.

  14. What I like about Soutar is he appears to be able to pass through the lines isn't scared to step forward with the ball. Cantwell was the best player on the pitch today and his run for the 5th goal was sublime and reminiscent of Davie Cooper in his prime. Thought Tillman played well 2nd half, Raskin looks a decent purchase, Sakala is erratic but his pace and directness hurt defences. Alfie scored 2 goals and his 2nd was brilliantly taken after Matondos clever cut back. Said earlier it was a weird game and hats off to MB and the subs as they made an impact and helped his win the game even if they did seem strange at the time.

  17. Sorry bud, but I don't care who else a player plays beside, a 15 yard back pass and beating a George Michael lookalike dwarf in the air for a header should be possible for all professional footballers who play centre back. Crazy as I may be.

  18. Not really sayin much. This image has becomes Ryan Kent in my mind's eye. I don't know why anyone would want him to stay given his end product. 217 total games 33 goals...that's a goal every 6.5 games...for an attacking player. 29 league games this year...3 goals. Good God he is so overrated. I pray that this team finally pull their head out of their ass about him. Let him go! He will be fine in the English Championship, or League One...doing that step over thing until he loses that trick with age in a couple years. Phew...needed to get that out for a while now. Thanks!

  20. Sent unexpectedly this afternoon on an unexpected, tedious errand, I thought I’d give Sportsound a go to follow the fortunes of the Famous. The last time I heard a fragment of a commentary was December 2019. Today was just dreadful. There was no bias against Rangers. Indeed from time to time the summariser, Craiggen? Craggen? - him, anyway - remarked that Rangers were playing quite well but whoever was doing the commentary was hopeless completely failing to describe play as they chatted learnedly about this and that. e.g. the summariser in all seriousness told me what St Mirren had to do, was get the ball, keep it and get it up into the Rangers box. I could work that out for myself. They rarely bothered to say where the ball actually was unless there was a likely shot at goal. My mission accomplished, I did not remain with them for the second half. To find out if I am living hopelessly in the past when Peter Thomson liked to give what he called a sound picture of the game, a tradition ably carried on by Francey, Alexander and Begg, I listened to a bit of the R5 commentary City v Leicester. There it was. The sound picture. The commentator telling me where play was, who was in possession, the markers, runners, tacklers, the whole lot. Sportsound is useless. Never mind the bias, the snarkiness and the bheggar adulation. They can’t even do the basics.

  22. A good win in the end but we’re losing far too many goals. We’ll need a keeper & another CB in the summer And I think Sakala is more of a goal threat & usually has a better end product than Kent. Going to be an interesting summer transfer window

  24. Well, IMHO, we were bound to beat them all afternoon, yet, we managed to give another 2 poor goals away, 5 withing 7 days. Some feat. Our attacking play is as good as it gets. Sakala, Morelos (or any other striker) and Cantwell make a productive front three, why would anyone recall Kent? Raskin is the driving motor from deep midfield, Tillman good enough to be creative behind the front three, and getting into free spaces. The three subs didn't make much sense (nor would I have withdrawn Sakala), but brilliantly held the line and set up Morelos, while Arfield flick through the goalie's legs was just sublime, as was Cantwell's pass. A BIG hat's off to Cantwell. What a display for the full 90, even tracking back hard in the 92nd despite being on a yellow.

  29. King, Lowry, Devine, Lovelace, Rice, McCorie (albeit injured today), McCausland. Tamundo and Ridvan I consider a youngsters, too. I'm not suggesting they all should start, but they don't even get many minutes towards the end of games. It's just a personal gripe of mine.
