Excellent article from Rick. Couldn't really argue with any of that. I am getting antsy about the quality of the people who will fill the vacant positions. I would like to hear from the club about the number of injuries we've had this season and the length of recovery time. The fans are not daft and sense there is something amiss. How will that and fitness issues be addressed? Most important of all, how is all of this, and a rebuild, going to be funded? This is a pivotal point for us and we need to get it right. No matter how badly we are hurting we have been through worse and come July/August we will be there looking forward to the new season in anticipation of the joy and pleasure to come (hopefully).

What an utter shambles. A protracted, torturous, joyless mess. There’s bodies strewn all over the battlefield and much of the damage is self-inflicted. Many took shrapnel from being unprepared, ill-equipped or just plain not up to task. Accountability will come in the form of the participants being not just stripped of their careers at Rangers, but with their reputations and legacies lying in the turf next to them. The collective failure of season 22/23 evaporates in a flash of light as one final mushroom cloud rushes to rise above our heads. Its a good read. Agree with his point on the manager. Worth remembering Beale wants to be here. He wants this job. He wants Glasgow. He wants to live in the sticks out by Balfron. Its more than a job to him and that will give him an edge.

The thought that I've had a few times in the last few days has been just how much Gerrard's star pushed us on and also glossed over the underlying frailties in our infrastructure. Frailties that have been systematically exposed since we won 55.

Thats maybe not as daft as you think. [Well, maybe I am...] I am both pleased/relieved that we are grasping the nettle and realising that changes were needed on multiple fronts... but also at the same time a little nervous that we aren't able to get replacements who are much different to what we have/had and we stagnate. The scale and pace of change is also easy to mess up and could unsettle some of the staff who are performing well. Celtic were able to turn things around very quickly with Fat Ange's appointment, and that will be the challenge for next season. But if it doesn't happen, it wont take long for there to be many questions about the way these changes are happening. We need calm heads and a clear vision. In Bennett we are going to have to trust.

Changes bring risk …. but not as much risk as no changes when things are going badly. Many Rangers fans are now so risk averse as to be reluctant to risk even success.

Dave King, when Murray was i/c, put 20M GBP, or thereby, on the barrelhead. He lost it, and he has not, to my knowledge, recovered any of it, since. I have often thought that he sees this as unfinished business (as well he might). That would be his motive, he has means, and the present situation might present him with an opportunity. I have to say that I am not fully convinced, as I can't see how he can drive share value up and up and up, to the point where he can sell and recoup previous losses. I wish we could reach a time when all we (need to) talk about is the Fitba'. We seem to know more, and obsess, about boardroom cantraips than about the team.

I was given the impression that there was only a limited budget available, given the problems with these old investors and companies? Looking back at the season in the stats, the only new players that were really given a chance were Colak and Tillman plus Raskin and Cantwell later on. Lawrence looked really good, but then injury struck. Many old players have simply not performed as they did before, lots of injuries too ... all things that you couldn't know at the start of the season. A recipe for disaster.

We've had our fingers burned pretty severely in the past, so some hesitance is only natural. We need to push past this though, which is where the calm heads and vision comes in. Its also only natural to ask what that vision is... our new Chairman's first proper interview will be interesting.

Club 1872 Meeting with John Bennett Dear Contributor, Yesterday, Club 1872 held a meeting with new Rangers Chairman, John Bennett in London. This was the first meeting between Club 1872 and a current RIFC Director since March 2020 and we were very encouraged that Mr Bennett took the time to meet with us so early in his Chairmanship. We have been on public record since last year regarding our serious concerns over the day to day management and general direction of the club. Yesterday’s meeting presented Club 1872 with our first opportunity in three years to bring a number of those concerns directly to the attention of the RIFC Board. The purpose of the meeting was to have an introductory discussion addressing historical issues, including the circumstances leading to the club’s disengagement from dialogue with Club 1872 and other areas of concern to Club 1872 Contributors and the wider support. It was agreed by both parties that this should be done with a view to moving forward together for the benefit of Rangers. During the meeting, which lasted over two hours, Mr Bennett was willing and eager to listen to Club 1872’s views and in turn he explained the club's perspective on various issues. In that regard it was a very useful exchange of views. We were extremely encouraged by Mr Bennett’s openness and willingness to listen. One point which emerged from the meeting is that Mr Bennett clearly believes that actions speak louder than words. It has been clear from recent announcements that there are major changes underway at Ibrox. We welcome those changes along with Mr Bennett’s demonstration in our meeting of his commitment to meaningful, two-way fan engagement. Mr Bennett made it clear that he regards our organisation and strong supporter representation as an important aspect of the future development of the Club. We hope and believe that the Chairman found our lengthy discussion useful, including the information we presented to him relating to the club’s engagement with Club 1872 and the Rangers support generally and how that might be improved. Both parties agreed that continued dialogue is essential and will quickly progress into more detailed discussion over the coming weeks. Club 1872

Unless there's a minor mutiny underway on the board, King has no leverage. If he had, he would never have left in the first place. No, if King is on the way back then there are far bigger changes coming down the pipe than anyone here has so far alluded to.

You're making the assumption that the board wants King back. A worse scenario is that the board needs King back. Hopefully neither is the case.

I think it shows we've massively missed the boat and haven't managed to commit to our strategy. If you are offering players then you are looking at a cut price deal, which is a failure.

Saka looks genius at times - in highlights. That’s why I don’t vote in MOTM unless I’ve seen the whole match, highlights tell you very little. I’m on record (September) speculating how long he’d be at Arsenal before Real made them an un-refusable offer.
