There was always the chance that Helander would recover and start playing again, but renewing his contract was a risk we couldn't take for numerous reasons. There were no guarantees. I don't recall anyone arguing that we should have renewed the contract.6 points

It's worth noting that Helander has played 10 competitive matches for Odense since the summer. Rangers have played 33 competitive matches in that same time period.4 points

Too bad for us. I thought he was very good when fit.4 points

Seriously our lack of medical acumen is unreal. There were rumours he would never play again. His contract expired. 5 minutes later he’s back in the Sweden team he’s played half a season in Denmark and now he’s off to a top Belgian side.4 points

You forget the high number of free kicks as well. We all know he is suspect defensively but if he wasn't, he would be in the EPL and the England team. To replace him, we would need to find a RB who can give us his goals tally (leaving aside penalties) and that is near nigh impossible on our budget.3 points

I'm not sure whether we can take the "profit" at face value. Wages are £179K which seems incredibly light given the staff that work there during the week and the staff that work on matchdays and at events (security. bar staff etc). I guess Rangers must incur much of these costs but I have to wonder whether they are being fully recharged. The accounts already state that the audit fees are met by Rangers and I wonder how much else isn't being recharged. It had to make a profit politically for the directors. This project seemed ego driven and the directors wanted it in place for the 150 anniversary (it was late) and were willing to sell the Albion to fund it. I'm glad we've got NEH but not at the cost of losing the Albion, and perhaps a but more time should have been taken if we wouldn't afford it. It does seem a long way away from generating £1m profit that was mentioned.3 points

Whoa buddy! - he also did it against some of Europe's top teams; some of his best performances came in the Europa, a step above the SPL.2 points

Forrrrest and Everton (again) in breach of FFP rules. How are Citeh supposed to compete with these cheaters?!2 points

Insanely overrated...limited skill set, phoned it in for large portions of his Rangers career. His level is Blackpool, or Wigan. League one, two...some smaller Championship clubs perhaps? Never cared for him. TBF Liverpool fleeced us.2 points

Same could be said for Davie Cooper in early to mid 80s. Can't remember anyone saying he was a bad player.2 points

Could it be that there are only 4 or 5 staff permanently and fully employed by NEH and that temporary/itinerant staff are charged as services? Just speculating because, as you say, there's no way NEH operates on that kind of wages cost.2 points

Absolutely not. Its more to highlight how poor our medical record seems to be. We should be miles ahead of a club like OB in the medical sense. Does'nt really mean anything without context though does it. Did we follow up on the specialists recommendations? If so did we implement them correctly? etc There are many examples of a Helander type situation, see Lawrence, Matondo, Raskin, Ridvan etc - players who have all spent the bulk of their time here injured despite seeming to play full seasons elsewhere. Roofe is obviously an outlier as he was injured for the year before he joined but for the 4 seasons previous he managed 40+ games. Hopefully things change for the better with Mark Waller and Tom Taylor in the building.2 points

Either that or the guy was at it.2 points

As a young 72 yr old I still take members of a Yorkshire walking group north to play on real hills (Munro's) a few times a year!!2 points

The prices they charge it shouldn't take too long to pay it off!!, and they sell fucking Magners!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, fuck is that all about?.1 point

This I'm sure will likely affect any rumoured Yilmaz interest1 point

I think a lot depends on outgoings. We need to get players out before we can bring others in, which is easier said than done.1 point

A transfer window where all our problems are in attack but the same old Borna/Tav debates spring up.1 point

the key here is getting turnover up to help with FFP. Get us off that watch list.1 point

I do not forget this. Like I do not forget all those attempts where he could not hit a barn door from a reasonable free-kick position but still pushed anyone else away, bar Borna on the odd occasion. Countless games where he managed to hit the first man with 8 out of 10 attempted crosses, a neat pass-back to a Yahoo to kill any hopes of a title back in the season pre-55. He's part of every slaughtering by the Yahoos past promotion etc.. He is having a good season now, as I noted above. Stats and performance wise. He will be with us for some time still, but he, like Ridvan, is not beyond criticism. And some of the latter levelled at Ridvan (and sometimes Borna) is ridiculous, not least if compared to Tavernier's performance on those very days.1 point

For those of us that don't like that den of lunacy, what's it say?1 point

I know it's pretty radical but maybe we could focus on finding a striker who can deliver those goals and a defender who can defend.1 point
-
Yeah, he's doing well at the moment, but think we need another option.1 point

The issue is, goalkeeper apart, most areas are coming to the top of our to do list ; Left back Centre Back Midfielder who can dictate a game Wide right player Wide Left player (if we don't sign sima) Centre forward or two I'd say replacing Tav is bottom of that list1 point

Superb sir, cap doffed. I never got into the munros over the festive period like I usually do, a batch of covid put paid to it.1 point

It also depends on the parents i think, I live in a rural area and you would be surprised the amount of kids who don’t go walking or don’t go out on Rambo type adventures all day building traps or whatever it is I did as a kid. As the parents don’t allow them to venture beyond the culdisac, Yeah it needs to be pushed more tbh all it takes is a hour a day go for a nice walk away from distractions and technology. Cheer even the grumpiest person on here 🤣🤣1 point

Lammers getting good reviews from Utrecht fans on twitter today. Good to see.1 point

Rangers might not be perfect but they ain't stupid. Unless they either have a ridiculous offer for him, or ink to paper from another guy I don't think we are gonna see him go. All this horse hockey about loaning him out makes zero sense. Why? Two deep in a position, one guy leavin in a few months and the other you just paid big caish for, and you're gonna loan him out? People just talkin out their ass. He looked decent against zeh chermans yesterday. Little man was all over that pitch.1 point

It's hardly the odd cross, his assists and scoring stats are unreal for a right back. All for a couple of hundred grand IIRC.1 point

And how many times has he dragged the TEAM out of disasters too?1 point
