May I wish a happy, healthy, and prosperous New Year to everyone. Oh, and for a propitious start to 2025, for us all, what better than a small miracle occurring down Govan, tomorrow afternoon.3 points

Isn’t this just an example of why having one player score all your team’s goals doesn’t always mean success, especially if that player isn’t contributing much else to the overall team performance? Just need to take a look at 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th place.2 points

Its true. I know someone on the ward so knew early last night. Only time ill ever have inside info but couldn’t share it.2 points

Why are you boiling it down to either/or? You're just kicking the can down the road.2 points

You know the thing that most annoys me about playing Celtic is the lack of giving them a right good thumping i know we have had some scores of five against them but back when we had a very good team we would take the lead might add another couple then Baxter would start playing up to the crowd instead of hammering them anyway maybe on Thursday big Phil will break his duck against them and come away with a result that will keep the fans happy .2 points

A bit of a stretch saying Moyes knows the league. He played in this league about 40 odd years ago. That's a lifetime away.2 points
-
Said the same, but if we are serious at running a football club that has even the slightest ambitions we must be asking him the question. If he says no, then fine. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.2 points

I agree. That Ridvan vote was just @Graeme Ro55 torpedoing my dream of a unanimous vote.2 points

we can try to build a football club with a continuous player trading model which generates much needed additional income from players we can sell at profit to the bigger European leagues because the SPFL is basically an impoverished shitshow Alternatively we can finance the club with directors loans & get ooc bosmans and pay them exorbitant wages they’d never get elsewhere1 point

Get well soon. You won't be missing much tomorrow.1 point

Obviously not. We try to build a sustainable football club (business ) as a base from which to move forward and compete with Celtic.1 point

Alex MacDonald scored goals, including a lot of important ones. Barron doesn't. Hardly ever has. The general reaction to Barron is representative of how some in our support tend to view things. From "brilliant" .... to.... "Shite" inside a month1 point

Bring him home....... Windass scores from inside his own half as Sheffield Wednesday lead Derby 4-11 point

He can and probably does have modern ideas on the implementation of a recruitment model, but will he be allowed to implement it? 100% agree, we do need a DoF but we need to ensure that these high profile, well paid individuals are given scope to run the club. Oh, and we need a new manager most of all.1 point
-
If we were serious at running a football club the board would be nowhere near the decision and a dinosaur like Moyes would never be an option. Alas! we have no DoF yet.1 point
-
No you didn't but I hope no fan is narrow-minded enough to hold that against him or anybody else. I think we've moved on a lot from the Mo Johnston scarf-burning reactions. While we are on the subject, Russell Martin is available.1 point

He will know the league, he's Scottish, he's faced Scottish clubs and he'll know people in the game. Again, we are overthinking things. The only real question is would Moyes be a better Rangers manager than Clement. I think the answer is a definite yes.1 point

https://www.whufc.com/news/articles/2021/july/23-july/david-moyes-his-return-glasgow-and-taking-his-father-saturdays-pre David Moyes on his return to Glasgow and taking his father to Saturday's pre-season game with Celtic 23rd July 2021 Saturday’s pre-season trip to Celtic will be an emotional one for West Ham United manager David Moyes. Born in Glasgow, Moyes joined the club he supported as a child at the age of 17 in 1980, having been scouted playing for local side Drumchapel Amateurs. The young centre-back went onto to represent Celtic 35 times in all competitions and was part of Billy McNeill’s squad when they won the Scottish Premier Division title in 1981/82, edging out an Aberdeen side managed by a man who would go on to become Moyes’ mentor and friend, Sir Alex Ferguson. Moyes moved to England in 1983, joining then-Second Division Cambridge United and, aside from a short spell playing for Hamilton Academical in 1993, has spent the entirety of his playing and coaching career south of the border. While he may have been away from home, the 58-year-old’s love affair with his boyhood club has endured, while his father David Sr. who was his coach at Drumchapel and is also a lifelong supporter, still lives in Glasgow and will be at Celtic Park to watch his team take on the Irons on Saturday afternoon. With up to 18,000 Celtic supporters permitted to attend as Scotland loosens its COVID restrictions, it promises to be a memorable occasion for Moyes and his family, while the fixture and atmosphere will help prepare the Hammers for the challenges ahead in a busy 2021/22 season. “Anybody who knows anything about football would say they’re excited about going to Celtic and I think there will be about 18,000 home supporters allowed in, which is fantastic,” the manager told West Ham TV. “I actually thought it was good to have supporters back at Reading on Wednesday night because the players are having to get used to it again. “What we’re really hoping for is for the first game of the season to get the go ahead with full stadiums, because that’s what we really want, so let’s hope that the way it is. “We’re looking forward to the next game now.” While the present and future are Moyes’ primary concern, his past career is one he can look back on with huge pride – a career which started with Celtic over four decades ago. There, he lined up in a team featuring some of Scotland’s top players at a time when Scottish football was very strong, with Celtic leading the way, Aberdeen winning trophies at home and in Europe and both Rangers and Dundee United also making their mark. Moyes himself lined up in a star-studded Celtic side that included Scotland internationals Danny McGrain, Roy Aitken, Tommy Burns, Charlie Nicholas and Paul McStay and Republic of Ireland goalkeeper Pat Bonner, and looks back fondly on the memories of those successful days in Parkhead. “I wouldn’t put myself down as a heck of a player, but I played in a really good team and I got myself a Scottish Premier Division medal,” he smiled. “The days I had there were great days. I played with some great players, stunningly good players, most of whom played for Scotland, and at that time Celtic was as big a club as any club in Britain. “Glasgow is my city, so I know it well. I’ve got a lot of friends there, I’ve got my Dad coming to the game, so it’s great to be able to do that as well.” Saturday’s pre-season match between West Ham United and Celtic will kick-off at 3pm. You can follow the game live via whufc.com and our social media channels. Please note that NO away tickets are available for West Ham United fans, in line with Covid-19 restrictions still in place in Scotland, and supporters are advised not to travel to Glasgow.1 point

Moyes does not enjoy a reputation for scintillating, attacking, stylish play. He does, however, and by his own admission, make his teams hard to beat. I cannot see Moyes doing this at Ibrox without recruitment -substantial recruitment- of, well, defenders, who can, well, defend, and defend well. Actually, I can't see anybody making the current lot difficult to defeat. And, of course, in a classic double dunt, we don't score many goals, and I don't see anyone easily turning our midfield and attack into a free scoring football machine, without recruitment -probably substantial- of players who, well, know where the bloody net is. In any event, I am not sure Moyes is a starter. He might expect EPL level wages, and would, presumably, look for a decent budget for acquisitions. Did I say that he actually played for Pederasts FC?1 point

From what I read, Aberdeen were after £1m for Barron, whereas we had offered £500k. That's a win.1 point

Most pointless thread ever. Lawrence Shankland - for the millionth time will not, and never will be a Rangers player. Not January 25, not Summer 25 not January 26. Never has been and never will be anywhere near good enough anyway. I doubt we will have enough dough to sign anyone and we wont exactly be inundated with offers for our muppets. Last post on this pointless thread for me1 point

FFS. The guy has been in the door less than 2 days and will still be in the early stages of his information gathering, and has also been dealing with the SFA on the VAR issue and you expect him to have something of substance and can already form an opinion that he hasn't got what we need?1 point

People make unkind and unfounded remarks about the size of my ears but jings, look at the lugs on that. Spockian I thought he spoke pretty well. Interviews like that are never going to be highly successful. The trick is to avoid ridicule and he managed that. Good luck to the lad.1 point
