  1. It’s a good problem to have, Tav is sending signals he has no intention to leave and loves it here. Patterson is breaking onto the scene and looks ready to develop into an Alan Hutton type player. I have no idea what to do about that problem but I hope we don’t sell Patterson, I would like to see him as the natural successor to Tavernier without costing us a penny.

  2. To be honest I don't think the colour of Morelos' skin has anything to do with that, they hate each other, I don't see a reason to be cynical about the gesture either. Can't say the same about Celtic's initial tweet of support which they bizarrely accompanied with the hashtag oneclubsince1888.

  3. A third trip to the worst pitch in football beckons. Worth noting we are 20 points clear despite having played the next 4 best teams in the league twice away and only once at home, with the opposite of course true for the deposed 8.5 times champions. All randomly done of course.

  4. Eh ? We are averaging 2.36 goals per game this season in the league - how are we struggling to break them down ? How are they dire to terrible affairs when we are scoring so many goals ? The traits you attribute to Stewart are the same traits Aribo has. This to me smacks of the age old problem that a player becomes better than he is simply by not playing. I simply cannot fathom anyone, not just you dB because I see it from other sections of our support, who can complain this season about not utilizing different systems - we have dropped 10 points from 33 games this season - there has been no need to utilize different systems when, by and large, we are comfortably beating teams without much fuss at all. Changing systems is pointless when you continue to win. You only need to look across the city where their manager changed systems constantly, trying to find a formula that worked, and it did nothing but increase the chaos and carnage. Why would we change a winning formula ?

  5. Lol. In a season we have dominated domestically, in a week where emotions will have completely drained the squad, our 5th match of the month to Celtic's two, we had two days of preparation to their two weeks work of preparation.... in all of that, and we have won the league the earliest it has been won in a century, undefeated in the league.... all of that... and you are raging. I would hate to see what you have been like the last decade then. Over-reaction may be an understatement

  6. I'm happy with that result. I think people underestimate the impact of a high intensity game against high level opposition 2 and a half days before this game (8pm kick off on Thursday, 12m kick off on Sun). Before the game I was a bit concerned they'd win, they had a full fortnight to prepare and were at home and this game was their big cup final, whilst our focus has been on the two legs vs Slavia during that fortnight. Losing Patterson in addition to not having Jack or an in-form Arfield left me a bit concerned. If you look back through history it is very common for the champions to lose one of the last old firm games. In light of that I think the players have done very well. And even in a low key draw there were a few additions to the list of things hilariously working against them this season. The irony of Balogun starting being our weakness and he ends up setting up our goal. Alfredo getting his first Old Firm goal, and getting it on their ground too. Edouard passing up the chance to pretty much score an open goal to take a dive (which we all know he only does because he is the penalty taker and the penalty spot is where he has been most comfortable shooting from this season). For once, the break comes at a good time for us (except Patterson maybe). Jack and Tavernier should be very close to returning by the time we get back, it would be great to have them back for the post-split games, especially the Celtic game.

  7. I thought we strolled the game in first gear and only upped it to second gear when we were behind. Gone was our usual press and high energy, gone was our attacking full backs, gone was our long diagonal balls in behind a square and wooden defence, we went there for a point and were happy to play out the second half in cruise control. Not something I ever want to see from a Rangers side, especially at the mhidden, but completely understandable. I said at FT that they would jump on a “we were the better side again” and it proves there isn’t a gap between the 2. Perfect, I hope they truly believe that and recruit accordingly.

  8. The only possible sensible decision. Jack needs to get himself fit and ready to push for a place in our remaining league & cup games.

  9. I'm not in the least interested in going unbeaten in the league season - good if we do but less important than finding out whether certain fringe players want to claim a place or need to be moved on because we will need space to improve this squad. The Scottish Cup is serious business, otherwise we should and will be focussing on next year.

  10. but we do break them down. Do you really believe we would have more league points if stewart had played 30 games this year?

  11. There was a very good article in The Athletic about Tav at the weekend dB. Aside from interesting background stuff the article was at pains to underline how settled he is in Glasgow now and that whatever happens in his career he plans to make Glasgow his home when he retires. I actually wonder if there's more chance of us selling Paterson than Tav. Tav isn't going to get a crack at Champion's League football in England, I think if we offer him the right contract he's here for the rest of his career. As for the game we left our right hand side exposed. Aribo isn't a midfielder and playing him there means we lose the good parts of his game, it also means we're playing with 2 midfielders and Celtic over ran us in there because of that. Our best spell came when we brought on Wright, suddenly him and Patterson opened the right side and offered attacking options and defensive cover. Had we started with them, or with Zungu sitting allowing Kamara to cover the right it might have been a different match. Either way that was a full strength Celtic, all of their main players are fit and their manager was desperate to make a claim for the job full time. We came off the back of our hardest match of the season and with some big holes in the squad through injury. They still couldn't beat us.

  12. A shame he spoiled it later when he couldn't bring himself to say the name of one of our black players. It shows the above as an empty gesture.

  13. 100% with you on this to the extent that, back when we were drawn against Galatasary, I remember thinking that maybe it would be no bad thing if we missed out on the group stages if it allowed us to focus all our energies on the league. Very happy that the team exceeded my expectations and excelled in both!

  16. And still we never looked like losing the game.

  17. If by ‘intentional’ you mean not getting out of 2nd gear unless we had to, you could be right. We certainly don’t seem to exert ourselves so much if it looks as though 2nd gear is enough.

  18. Few made much contribution to winning this game but some made a significant contribution to not losing it. McGregor for sure but his role is always on that side of the balance sheet anyway. For me, not losing was the achievement of a generally substandard performance and I feel the principle contributor was actually Filip Helander, without whom the game would almost certainly have been lost by half time. He wasn't spectacular but he was efficient in the right places when it mattered.

  19. Long may they continue to believe that they are as good as we are and that we have been "lucky" this season. It's that attitude that's contributed in us overtaking them without them "noticing". 10 meant everything to them and at start of the season they believed it was assured. They have taken their eye off the ball and the longer this continues, the better it'll be for us.

  21. We need to remember , they had 2 weeks to prepare for this game , were fully fit and as close to full strength as possible , we had players missing and players drained after the midweek game and the resultant racism storm . We were never in trouble in this game , we were never run off our feet , we were not out played , we were not out coached . They were desperate to win this , make no mistake , their after match comments were pretty pathetic , given Eduardo 2 dives , only 1 yellow , how strange . Next year they will have only half that team on the park , who knows what they will replace those with , time will tell , but I am one happy bear ?.

  22. It is understandable that our players are emotionally and physically drained. They have been, for the most part, exceptional this season. We navigated the Euro League qualifiers, flew out the traps in the league and after 1st OF game, got a lead we'd never surrender. We then qualified from our EL group unbeaten home or away and continued our domestic dominance, League Cup apart. At the start of the season I don't think any of us could have imagined that we'd have secured the league before the split and progressed to last 16 of Europe given the way last season petered out. In my opinion the only objective this season was to win the SPFL title at all costs. In truth, we completely dominated the league. We held our own in Europe (could argue we are punching above our weight in Europe). The last few weeks have seen an outpouring of emotion for differing reasons. I think what I am trying to say is, cut the management staff and players some slack. Our mission has been accomplished and whilst it would be amazing to go full league campaign unbeaten, invinsibles doesn't have to happen to make this squad and management team immortals.

  23. Hmmm. I usually like your posts but have to call you out on this one. You have to remember the last 10 years and this is a new side being grown with a project. They dont have the 9IAR 90s mentality we have, half the players were kids if they were born during then. Its rebuilding. This team has risen the bar again this year - we may expect higher long term but as i posted earlier P3 W2 D1 v Celtic is going in the right direction

  25. Nothing strange about our performance. It was the same as Thursday. Same stand off tactics and let the opposition do whatever the fuck they want. Our performance today was lame and pathetic. Players going through the motions when we have players on the bench who are busting to play and will never get a chance. Absolutely raging with the attitude that we showed today.

  27. I didn't think they looked that good, especially in 2nd half. We finished the stronger and given the events of the last week, that should be a worry for them. We never really looked like winning it and never looked like losing it either.

  29. When Connor Goldson states in his interview, voice cracking with emotion, that racism is rife, getting worse and going unpunished, it's time for us all to sit up, take notice and self reflect. When Glen Kamara has to issue a statement via his lawyer as he is being called a liar, it's time for us all to sit up, take notice and self reflect. Social media is a cesspit of uncensored racism from all corners of the world, it has to stop / be stopped
