  1. I agree that mistakes are being made Cammy. Surely we must give him time to learn from these mistakes, make the necessary changes and get us back on track again. IMO he at least he deserves that. For no other reason than he had the balls to take such a tough job. Poor Squad, very little money and a lying f****r of a boss.

    Allan Smith

I think he'd maybe get a few Stewarty. I think he'd be a great foil for Boydy. A bit no nonsense in your face attitude from Smithy is just what we need at the moment.
  3. At least that. 2.5 each on a decent centre half and a striker.
  4. I can't believe how a very good start to the season turned into a nightmare so quickly. We were aggressive, passionate, fully committed and full of confidence. Our new saviour had seemingly figured out what the SPL was all about and had sent the troops out on to the battlefield with clear instruction and exciting tactics....HERE WE GO, HERE WE GO, HERE WE GO. The nightmare of last season fading into the dark reaches of our memory. Only a couple of defensive lapses stopped us from reaching for the bubbly and chanting out, CHAMPIONIES, CHAMP...oh you know how it goes! BANG! 3 months later we're playing like a bunch of bungling amateurs who've just met for the first time. The manager looks as if he's not slept for weeks and a percentage(not sure how much) of the fans want him out. Straight from a STEPHEN KING novel or what. You could blame the sudden loss of form on injuries to key players. Sionko, Burkey, Martin and Fergie still not back from a pre season op. Without the services of 4 creative players, would be a stuggle for any team. We can't blame it on this though. The form of the first 3 was average/poor to say the least in the games leading up to the injuries. Even Fergies return to full fitness and obvious qualities have not been enough for us to back to any sort of acceptable form, hence the shocking run of results(domestic). Then what is the reason? Here's my take on it. We've taken our foot off the gas. We are no longer as aggressive as we need to be. We are much less committed with and without the ball. The players look unsure of themselves and each other and some of the players lack of genuine quality has been exposed. Therefore the confidence has been ripped form every individual and more importantly, the team. I was only ever an amateur player, but it's plainly obvious to me that PLG panicked with the loss of a few sloppy goals(although still playing well IMO)and to combat this problem he reverted back to a more controlled type of game plan. More patient possession of the ball, full backs less committed to going forward and a lesser tempo to try and ensure that the structure of the team was there at all times. Rather than letting the players to continue to express themselves, enjoy themselves and basically GET STUCK IN. We are now allowing teams to come onto us at pace, therefore putting even more pressure on our defence. We're trying to pass our way through teams without putting any real pressure on them. Not forcing them to defend while facing their own goal. Everything that plauged our last season has been allowed to come back by PLG. A European style game if you will. I'm afraid that style doesn't cut it in the SPL. Certainly not with the quality of the squad we have at this moment in time. I believe a return to our early season tactics will see us improve, get a string of positive results and move clearly into 2nd spot and who knows....move a little closer to the scum(here's hoping) So for me it's at least until the end of the season for Le Gaffer. Then if no clear improvement has been achieved. I'm afraid a decision will have to be made.......THE CRY WAS NO SURRENDER.
  5. I don't think it's a lack of effort on the players part. I think it's a squad of mostly half decent players who are being led by a coach who is struggling or refusing to adapt his footballing philosophy to the requirements of the SPL. Scottish football is an entity all to it's own. PLG needs to quickly realise his squads capabilities, figure out what the SPL is all about and adapt accordingly....It shouldn't be rocket science to a manager of his repute.
  6. TBH Gazza, not many of the players are proving themselves worthy of a jersey every week. Just average/poor players or a new manager who's sruggling to get the best out of them? Only time will tell I suppose.
  7. I played right back a number of times when I played amateur. Maybe I should ask for a trial. If Sheringham can do it at 40, I'm sure I can at 39(on saturday). I see what your saying FT, but I'd rather a young GERS player was given the chance to improve and develop these attributes rather than sticking in a short term loan signing who to be honest, doesn't look particularly interested(maybe just me). Alan Hutton looked a real prospect pre injury. Given the chance and time and with the proper guidance and coaching I think he can get back to that form. It would be great to go out and spend some real money on a top right back. Someone AH can work and develop alongside. But as you say saying we're shopping at the wrong end of the market at the moment. So going out and spending money on a player who will probably be no better than what we have, doesn't make good business or footballing sense to me. NO SURRENDER.

    Hemdani

Maybe he was talking about Berts mum. Wasn't she a centre half.
  9. Let's just say Bardsley had come in and had an absolutely blinding loan spell and then f***s off back to manure. Young Alan spends all that time on the bench(if that) and then is expected to come in and start from where PB left off. Not going to happen. The young man gets absolutely slaughtered from fans as it is. Imagine the abuse he'd get if he was to come in and fail to have the impact on the side as the 'short term' loan signing did....not pretty. Short term loan signings should be for cover only IMO. Unless PLG was sounding him out for a possible transfer in Jan. Seeing as we couldn't afford PBs gran at the moment I doubt that would've been the case. I think he was a potential quick fix to a position that PLG thought we might have a problem in. Instead of giving the lad(AH) a chance to prove himself. On the attitude and form so far comments by Frankie, I totally agree. That sending off against the Hibees was an absolute shocker, no more than arrogant petulance. Also the training ground incident with TB, total disrespect for your manager and your teamates. For now I'd prefer AH. If we are going to replace him, I'd prefer it to be a signing and not a loaner and cetainly not Bardsley.
  10. Fuck me. No wonder I can't get my coupon up.
  11. Spurs 0 Chelsea 2 W Ham 0 The Arse 3 A Villa 1 B'Burn 2 Arabs 0 Bears 3 Chelsea are flyin' at the mo.(Drogba, Lampard) Watched the Hammers a couple of times this season and they are 'PANTS'. Only one winner here.(Henry,Van Persie 2) Villa's luck ran out against the POOL last week and looked the ordinary team they are. Tight game, but Sparky's team on a high from the UEFA......And oh yes.....FUCK MARTIN O'KNOB.(Agbonlahor for Villa and McCarthy and Pedersen for B'Burn) The Arabs form and confidence is rock bottom. CL coming in might make a difference, but it shouldn't. The same level of performance from our outstanding players in UEFA cup(Fergie,Clement,Smith,Nacho and MacGregor) should be enough to spur the team on to victory and 2nd spot in the SPL.(Boyd 2 and Nacho). It's all in the tempo Paul. Let's get in aboot them....No Surrender.
  12. Score draw. Chelsea to get a pen.
  13. Sadly, everything in the article was pretty much spot on. Some talk of a clearout of the squad. That's fine if you have a few million to spend. We don't. If some money was to become available, I doubt it would be enough to bring in the quality PLG obviously needs to start playing at a decent and consistent level. Unforunately at this moment in time he doesn't look as if he has what it takes to get players of the standard of the present squad to perform at the required level for Rangers and the SPL. The footballing philosophy that brought him great success in France is clearly not working in the SPL. Some soul searching and a realisation that his own footballing ideals have to change if he's going to take this team forward.
  14. Yeah, excellent read as usual Frankie. I was almost in tears reading parts of that. Looking to the heavens and praying for some divine intervention is probably as good a plan of action as any. Especially when talking about respect, truth and loyalty from a man who has lied through his back teeth to us for god only knows how long. Any REAL RANGERS FAN(especially with approx 650 million) would use his last breath ensuring that, if he was leaving. The club was in good working order and moving forward and not leave it for the next owners to start from scratch. Who knows, he might surprise us and do something extraordinary. I don't think the majority of GERS fans will be holding their breath though.
  15. Isn't that one of the benefits of having a reserve team. To get players who have been out for a while, back to match sharpness/fitness. I'm a fergie fan, but the last couple of games he's been poor, due to the fact that he's lacking the required level of fitness. Let's just say for one horrible moment that fergie struggles tomorrow and a poor performance by him contributes to us losing the tie(god I hope not). It'll have been a pretty pricey way of helping to get fergie back to full fitness. Maybe PLG thinks an unfit fergie is better than any other option his squad gives him. Like I said, I'm a fergie fan and If he plays I hope he can get back to something like his old self and kick some norwegian ass. In the pub on saturday there was quite a few fans ranting on about fergie and his performance, wanting him out the team. I even had a verbal set-to with my best mate after the game. He blamed fergie for everything, tics goals, our lack of chances, the lack of fluency in our passing. I tried to stick up for him the best I could, but he and others had made up their minds about him. What I'm trying to say is. If fergie doesn't have a decent game tomorrow, there'll be quite a few fans getting on his back. All because he MAY HAVE been brought back too early. That would be a shame.
  16. Sorry mate. I thought you were getting on to me.
  17. Yeah, I think your right Geo. Can't remember any details, but there was an investigation.
  18. I was only trying to work colshys ticket a wee bit.
  19. We can certainly do with another Ian Ferguson right now. We haven't IMO got a middle of midfielder who can take a grip of a game and command it the way IF did.
  20. Decent team Del. I don't think I'd have Fergie in. He's nowhere near fit enough yet and is struggling to find any decent form. .................McGregor.............. Bardsley...Hemdani...J-Rod...Smith Burke.......Rae......Adam......Martin .....................Prso............ .....................Boyd........... I think if we get at them early and put them on the back foot they'll flap a bit and struggle to contain us. A big noisy Ibrox crowd will intimidate them a wee bit IMO.
  21. We let you win colshy. We're concentrating on winning our SIXTH Euro Cup/CL. You know the one Colsh, the competition you get pumped out early of every season.
  22. I would love him to be at the GERS, but personally I think his wages would be a stumbling block. Certainly while DM is still pulling the purse strings.
  23. I'm with you Frankie. I can't understand or see what's changed that's made PLG revert from having his team playing aggressive attacking football to being cautious, non committal and playing at a low tempo. These are all the things that plagued our campaign last season. We were absolutely dominating teams early on, imposing ourselves right from the off, creating loads of chances. All the players looked well up for it, confident and most of all, enjoying themselves. The only problem early on was some mistakes at the back were being made and it cost us a few points. Now that he's got that sorted out, I don't see why we can't get back to those early season tactics. Now, like last season, they look unsure of themselves and each other. Bad first touch, ordinary passing, no real passages of good attacking play. They all look as if they're hoping something positive is going to happen rather than making it happen themselves. If we can recapture that early form and confidence, I don't see any reason why we can't push the smelltic all the way and maybe pip them at the post(oh god please)again. If not and we keep playing the way we are. We could find ourselves way off the pace come the crunch time of the season and that would be HUGELY DISAPPOINTING. We've got the manager and we've got the players(IMO). So c'mon PLG, let's get at them like before.
  24. Heard from somebody in the pub on saturday that PLG has identified a couple of scottish players he does want to buy. If true, I'd hope Scott Brown would be one of them. Be interesting to see how much money PLG does have available to him.
  25. I don't think a manager as good as PLG would make a mistake like that(well I hope not). Gazza makes a great point about some players may have underestimated the SPL. Players not just this season but in the past as well seem to think they can just pull on the RANGERS jersey, stroll through games and pick up trophies. When they do realise that they need to fight for everything, they don't seem to be up for the challenge. Arrogance, bad attitude or just plain lack of talent, whatever it may be. PLG needs to get it booted out of them right away. In the defence of some players, they probably just don't understand the scottish mentality and don't have the capabilities to come to terms with it. That's a excellent point about a scottish/scotland based assistant cammy. I think that would have been a great move for PLG. As good a manager that he is, an assistant with a full understanding of the scottish game would've been a massive help. Not too late I suppose.
