Last night Morelos was clearly exhausted at the end of the game (same with the Feyenoord match) so we're going to have to be careful with him if we want to avoid burning him out. The physical work he does and the ground he covers means he must be knackered after games. We have to find a way of rotating more players in whenever possible. We only made two subs last night and, whilst I can understand why to an extent, there was no reason someone like Stewart or Defoe couldn't have came on for the final period at least.3 points

Tav playing high up the pitch is an important part of us beating any press but he needs to understand that sometimes he needs to reduce that advance somewhat when we're under a bit of pressure. Too often later in the game last night he was too far up the pitch when being more conservative would have been better for the team. We have to understand though that all this comes from the manager and one of our strengths is breaking and/or winning the ball quickly. As such, Tav being so advanced is key to us creating chances so it's not necessarily the player's fault but a gamble the coaching team enjoy.3 points

I never thought I'd be voting Borna Barisic as MOTM but I thought he was the only one who played to par last night. Everyone else was out of sorts, with the sole exception of McGregor perhaps. Credit where it's due, Borna has turned some kind of corner in recent weeks.2 points

However it's known who threw the banger last night and it wasn't a UB, so if people are trying to imply that it was them then that's unfair. There's enough to criticise the UBs for without them being falsely accused for stuff that doesn't involve them.1 point

Statistics go for nothing at the end of the day if a player is doing a job in a winning team that's good enough for me , I will take you back to Roger Hunt ex liverpool player who worked his guts out so that others could score and he was an inside forward but Shanks never dreamed of dropping him .1 point

Best consigned to the dustbin that one, the only saving grace is we won. I was toying with Kamara just for the goal but the keeper had it covered until the deflection so went with the other end and picked McGregor, made one good save, controlled his box well, tried to start counter attacks and wasn't as bad as the others. If I was to give marks out of 10, only McGregor, Barasic & Morelos would get a 5, the rest lower.1 point

Well, it was the "beauty of the cup", even if ugly. Up and down the park, football hard to be found, yet we battled through. I reckon many of us forgot all those similar games of the past and will not really remember this one for long ... well, Aribo will. Regarding Ojo ... he looks at time like Kent during his start and I still have that suspicion that if fit, we have to play him. Liverpool has that nasty loan-requirement that their players "cost" little, but you may have to pay penalties if they do not play (when fit) in a certain percentage of your games. As much as I enjoyed Kent's rise to fame after his at times dodgy start to the season, I also want to see the likes of Stewart and Murphy back on the park. How quickly can those "superstars" like Kent, Ojo or Barker fall to injury and we rather quickly end up with chaps who hardly get a dozen minutes per month. And with our luck, the games might be rather important then. Should those thrown in at the deep end then set a foot wrong, we will not hear the end of it ... Yesterday was tailor-made for Stewart, Polster, King, Edmundson et al, yet we threw on our "stalwarts" and they were again, hardly impressive. At the end of the day, results is what matters for the club and we got that. Hearts and whoever may be in the final will not play Livingston-style, who reminded me of Wimbledon of old.1 point

Agreed, which is what Gerrard said in one of his interviews. McCoist too. Both said it wasn't deliberate but it endangered a fellow player (can't be disputed). Gary Mac, however, said the ref got it right, meaning he agreed it wasn't serious foul play.1 point

Watched back a few stretches of play this morning. If Helander isn't sure about how to defend against players like Dykes then he will need to learn quickly. If he doesn't then he will never be able to nail down a first team place. It could be that the manager thinks it is ok to have one defender who suits playing against football teams and another who suits playing against Aberdeen and Livingston. I suspect that the manager is looking for more. Some criticism of Ojo earlier in the thread. I think it was from @der Berliner. I've noticed that he seems to become hopeless in the second half or when we are in the lead. Based on very little evidence I think that he will neither improve his decision making nor start playing like Candeias. I think that we will just need to accept that this guy can look incredible one minute and abject in the next minute. Although it will be frustrating I think that he will still provide a fair share of goals and assists before he moves on.1 point

I have just seen the elbow on Aribo. He looks at him, lifts his elbow, jumps and smacks him straight on! No action taken by the ref means there must be action from the CO!1 point

When you think how poorly we controlled the ball in midfield, you have to wonder why Jack spent so much of his time at right back covering for Tav. Sometimes we pay a large penalty for the few good crosses that Tav delivers on his forays forward. We'd have been better with Tav relinquishing his attacking role to someone like Greg Stewart.1 point

I can see why SG went with Helander: the more composed, controlled option with a cool head. Yes, Katic would have won the headers, but then the ball goes back in the air, then comes back again; there's no control, there; and Katic is not the best with the ball at his feet. Nevertheless, Helander had a stinker. Ojo was missing for the most of the game, then pops up in good situations. When he makes the right decisions it works; otherwise, like last night, not so much. I've been disappointed with Arfield this season; he's not doing it for me.1 point

That was just as bad a performance as the league game at this ground 12 months ago, the only difference is that we got a scrappy goal this time instead of them. Totally bullied, every midfielder lost their battles, attacking players made really poor decisions when in good positions, defenders were second best in physical contest. Livvy outfought us, outworked us, and for most of the game outplayed us. But we won! We we now have 2 massive games coming up and we cannot have any repeat of the attitude too many players (who have been fantastic so far) showed tonight. Jack had his worst game in months for example, and he wasn’t even the worst in the team!1 point

He's a bloody idiot. He shouldn't be allowed near a post match interview again.1 point

Katic was dropped for his performance against Dykes. Going on that then it should be Katic and Edmundson on Saturday as Goldson and Helander were rolled time and again by him. Dykes is also a bit naive if it was me i would have been glued to Goldson after his booking.1 point

It’s tough to speak out when your assistant manager says the ref got it right. what the fuck is Gary Mac doing ?1 point

At times that was no more than thuggery , how these refs continually get away with these displays is beyond me .1 point

As my avatar suggest I absolutely love the man. My favourite goals are his header at Elland road, his back post header vs Celtic when he did the high knees celebration (can't remember year?) and his 1998 header at Parkhead. A rare talent. 49 goals in 51 games at his peak in 92-93.1 point
