  1. Staff costs (wages etc) went up £10m. Part of the rest were the costs of playing an additional 9 home games, additional European travel and preseason training.

  2. All very fair questions and I'm hoping @Bluedell is going to have an article this week asking similar with some possible solutions as well. We certainly need further investment and I suspect that will come as part of an open offer and the timing of that may well be dependent on achieving success.

  3. Have to say I expected there to be more chat about this thread. While I accept the board have the club's best interests at heart and are very different from past boards an £11 million pound loss is somewhat worrying. Without wishing to sound morbid what happens to Rangers if something happens to Dave King? King is in his mid 60s, that's not 'old' by today's standards, but it's not young either. I'm grateful for the money the directors have put in and continue to invest, but that's surely not sustainable for much longer. I'd like to know what the plan is for the short to medium term though. I assume it's 'sell players', which is fair enough but has proved harder than it sounds so far. I'd be very concerned if our plan for profitability is based on qualifying for the Champion's League. I'd also be interested to hear the current board's exit plan. What's the long term plan for the club? An open share issue? Private sale of shares to other high-wealth individuals? New investors? While we're all enjoying having a high profile manager again and playing some decent football while challenging properly for honours I'm nervous about what's next. What happens if we don't win the league this season, do we twist and gamble again next year or sell our best player(s) and balance the books? We all want to stop Celtic winning 10 in a row, but we also want a club for the long term.

  4. I realise we all see the game differently, but I'm really surprised to see the stick that Ojo gets. He's a very young guy with bags of skill, pace and power. He's definitely one for the future and in my opinion he's one I would like us to buy soon before his price rockets. I thought Hearts looked terrified of him, Kent and Morelos yesterday, and if he develops some better decision making he will be a fantastic player. I liked Candeias but he WANTED to go because he couldn't be guaranteed a more regular place in the team. Let's not forget that. Candeias proved that he had a great workrate, but whenever we are up against packed defences he lacked the skill and guile to be effective. Gerrard had to improve the team so there's no way he could guarantee Candeias more starts. He acted as cover for Tav, which was fine, but we need someone with more skill than Candeias offered. Kent, Ojo, Arfield, Barker, Jones, etc are all more effective at breaking down packed defences than Candeias was. If we hadn't upgraded from Candeias we wouldn't have been much better than we were last season. He was a good servant to the club, but let's not make him out to be something he wasn't.

  5. Its one thing saying players are aware of the standards and expectations at Rangers but in Davis & Greegsy you have two guys who have actually lived and thrived on that expectation. The embodiment of that in the dressing room is no bad thing.

  6. I appreciate someone as clever as @Bluedellwould be fantastic at writing something on this I had to write something on my blog as people were asking & I didn’t want to ignore it I also appreciate my blog isn’t in depth & perhaps I have missed bits but my blog has always been about a normal punters view from the stands and how he sees it So I hope my blog on it is recognised as such & folk aren’t too hard on me if I’ve misinterpreted something A standard Grade Math only goes so far ?

  7. There was an interesting discussion on the Daily Update on H&H on Friday, discussing the issue. Did Rangers know that they'd done the wrong thing and take the risk as Stevie has suggested, or did they just not know the rules? Did they know in advance what the punishment would be? Chelsea have obviously been given a transfer ban. Did we know for sure what the punishment would be? Was there a risk involved? Were we lucky rather than smart? Should we be taking such risks given we got our fingers burned with taking a risk with EBTs? Morally, should we be deliberately breaking the rules if we did know that we were? If the directors are willing to do this, where else are they willing to break the rules? Interesting questions, and I don't think it's as clear cut to say we were smart.

  11. That's why fans buying shares is not a waste, either through Club1872 or not.

  12. £3.6 million on legal fees in the Sports Direct fiasco we should sack the legal team and employ the ones that got liverpool out of their kit contract ,.

  13. I forgot to name him. Considering he's missed so many games, Kent still looks really sharp and I'm hoping for big things from him this season. He's still not the finished article but he's full of potential and, importantly, he seems to have the mindset of someone that wants to achieve big things.

  14. I thought Kent was better than all but Morelos. An assist, involved in the other two goals, hit the post. Dynamic dribbling as usual, looked a real threat, if a bit raw at times.

  15. Every successful squad needs experienced winners able to pass on their professionalism and abilities to younger players who perhaps need an extra guiding hand at times.

  17. He was much better in the second half but there were a good few wayward passes in the first half again? He actually reminds me a bit of Ted McMinn? I hope he and Kent continue to swap wings the way they are doing?

  18. Agree about Candeias but I thought Ojo played well today. Selling Candeias is the biggest mistake in SG managerial career so far. Loved his work rate

  19. No way was Ojo awful today! he is frustrating and raw, but there is a player there no doubt, the more he plays the better he will get, just look at Kent when he first joined us. Give the guy time.

  20. I think you might be right but it's too late now. I'd rather play Kent on the right and Jones/Murphy on the left.

  21. I've said before Tav has set such a high standard consistently over the years he has been at Ibrox, he is a quality player and he can/will continue to prove the doubters wrong.

  22. It was a joy to see Kent back in business and he did make a big contribution ... but perhaps not the biggest one. I took greater pleasure from seeing our captain continuing to improve and his counterpart on the left side also had a very good game. But I won't be voting for any of those players. ?

  23. Once again the ref allowed the opposition to get away with murder, just glad our players just kept going despite another poor performance from this ref! it's harder for Rangers to win matches than any other team
