  1. Today is the 90th birthday of a truly wonderful inside forward Ian McMillan, a fantastic player many happy returns.

  2. If there is a guard of honour it will be another sign that football is essentially fucked, that playing to the gallery of public opinion is more important that playing the ball and respecting such traditions as bitter rivalry. I don't want it, Rangers certainly doesn't need it, Celtic doesn't want to do it. If it happens it will be a virtue signalling sham, everyone will know it and we will have taken one more step on the road to being a sanitised parody of ourselves.

  3. I find it hard that some Rangers fans just can't admit this! It's no slight on our club, players or management team that we sometimes will face teams that are better than us and that will best us. It always has to be our players or management teams failings rather that the opposition just being better.

  4. If what was said to Kamara was a racist comment, we should have walked off the pitch.

  5. Huge game. Every round we get past builds our reputation, fills the coffers and tops up the co-efficient. We are certainly favourites; Gerrard has lost only 1 out of 20 home EL ties, Slavia have a very patchy away record With the away goal in the bag they need a goal and we don't We held them off at their fortress, even when our game preparations were interrupted by celebrations They had an away league game on Sunday (4 days before game) whilst we've had a full week to rest and prepare. Psychologically I think we have the advantage after they threw everything at us and didn't get the home win, epitomised by McGregor's save Zima suspended, he's played 90 mins in each of their last 8 EL matches (albeit the on-loan Simon Deli, who turned down Rangers last summer for Club Brugge, seems an able replacement)

  6. McMillan is the most accurate passer of a football I have ever seen. Long, raking, slide rule passes into space for Scott to race onto or lightning quick short passes to foot to ignite Henderson, he was brilliant. He could also bring a ball under instant control despite harassment from defenders and he scored a few. Can’t remember much about his heading ability.

  7. Said the same at the time. We should have left the field. Force UEFA to walk the walk or their anti-racism campaigns are just empty words.

  8. No, of course not - I worded it badly. As a chum on Twitter said I hope Gerrard is giving them a chance to come out and admit what was said and apologise. If not take it all the way.

  9. He better not be giving them the chance to deal with it privately, there is no room for racism and we must take this all the way or we are utter hypocrites.

  10. Proud of the way our manager is dealing with what likes a fairly obvious incident of racism. Players just don't react like that to run of the mill derogatory language. I'd imagine he's giving Slavia a chance to deal with it privately but they don't look too keen.

  11. I’m a powerful bad loser. Normally it’s toys thrown, dummy spat. But this season, this team, I forgive them.

  12. Fuck all to do with tactics, they are a better team, simples!

  13. As regards the game for the first time I'm questioning our tactics. Maybe we need to move away from our 4-3-3 now and then; Slavia outfoxed us with their game plan.

  14. you aren't making much sense just now. We have hardly downed tools tonight.

  15. Downed tools? Who's downed tools? This is last 16 of Europa League against a team who were in semi-finals two seasons ago, not the Bet Fred fucking cup.

  16. Hard as it is at the moment, reflection shows we've had a fantastic season. Domestic domination, 55 secured in March, qualification for EL Group Stages, unbeaten in the EL group stages and last 16 of EL.

  17. Been a great season, but there is still definitely still work to be done over the Summer. We are nearly there, but we need to make some top signings if we want to even pretend to compete in the CL.

  18. There was no need to disrupt the Goldson-Helander partnership, Balogun is a pretty clear downgrade for me

  19. Referee has set the tone and killed this game though by giving constant free kicks for absolutely nothing

  20. Very "streetwise" mob - every trick in the book and ref falling for it at every turn

  21. Can't really get any fluency thanks to their diving and fouling breaking up the play every 2 minutes. The ref is shocking. How did Kamara get booked? He literally could not stop his body from moving

  22. Plenty time to get back in this and it's frustrating that we seem to lack that wee bit belief that would see us cause them more issues. Unfortunately Aribo and Arfield have both been poor so we're asking too much of Morelos and Kent as it stands. Not helped by an incredibly lenient ref who is allowing Prague to clutter the game up with cynical fouls without a booking to stop it. There is something left in this tie but we need to roll our sleeves up, use the ball better and get more men into the box wherever we can.

  23. Arfield struggling to make an impact, might be worth bringing Hagi on and pushing Aribo back one. Aribo isn’t getting much joy anyway.

  24. A member of an iconic, possibly the iconic, Rangers' team: Ritchie Shearer Caldow Greig McKinnon Baxter Henderson McMillan Millar Brand Wilson That he was good enough not only to play in that side, but to be known, during his time at Ibrox, as 'The Wee Prime Minister', ie the boss, speaks volumes.

  25. Yeh I’m a bit disappointed about Helander in particular, I think he’s a key player. My guess is they decided that Sima’s pace is too much of a danger, and maybe they are right. Hagi I can understand, it’s a tie we win if we don’t concede and Aribo is always a risk on the right side of the midfield 3, but Aribo’s form is probably a little bit better than Hagi’s at the moment and he caused them more problems last week.

  26. Quite an interesting line up just announced with Balogun back in for Helander, Arfield in midfield and Aribo further forward with Hagi benched. Helander & Hagi very unlucky to miss out, both been playing very well recently.

  27. Extremely tough match tonight, however as always if we bring our A game we are a match for most teams, this is a very dangerous team, but we can win the match

  29. Today's site content really has me excited for tonight's game. Just as well I don't have any bevvy at work...! FWIW, my opinion is that the relaxed 'free hits' in Europe have now gone for this newly proven Rangers team. Tonight is a great opportunity to take further strides forward.

  30. Looks like Jack will miss at least tomorrow night unfortunately. Love the lad a lot but I suspect the manager will be looking at another midfielder for next season if he can't prove his fitness over the rest of this campaign. I think strengthening our midfield options is going to be vitally important in our defence of the title and qualification for the CL group stages...

  31. Should’ve walked after the racist comment. And it was a racist comment - Kamara wouldn’t make it up.

  34. It's a real pity we didn't impose ourselves at all in the tie but nothing but credit from myself to the players and management team for their superb efforts in the Europa League this season. We bow out but we're already looking forward to returning to the CL next term. I didn't think we'd play worse than we did in the first leg but unfortunately we did - even if the red cards stopped any chance we had of putting them under pressure as the game went on. Vital we now lift ourselves for another big match on Sunday.

  36. Going out tonight isn’t the concern. It’s the nature of it. We still have a lot to do this season, way too early to down tools like this.

  38. McGregor’s positioning looked very suspect there

  39. I'd keep Aribo on but move into the middle, he has what it takes to unlock defences and link up but not from out wide. Start with Hagi or Wright for Arfield and move Aribo inside

  40. We complain about Scottish refs but IMO European refs are worse every time, they have made football a non-contact sport.

  44. I live nearby and can attest that plenty of public urination also took place. (Which is weird because, going by the tone of the media reports / government furore last week, our impromptu George Square title celebration was the first time anything of that horrific sort had ever happened!)

  46. Did you see the punter who has a 5 fold of horses dating back to Royal Ascot? A fiver on Golden Horde (won) at 12/1 last June followed by Hello Youmzain at 10/1 (Won) then Shishkin (won) at Cheltenham this week at 4/1 and Bob Olinger (won) yesterday at 25/1. Betfair is offering him a 275k payout before the final race today. He has Envoi allen at 9/2 which would turn his fiver into 511K. Id take the payout of 275k. Chelsea impressive result and the decision to being Tuchel in is a masterstroke by Abramovic. And this is Lampards squad he is doing this with. But thats Liverpool and Chelsea knock out the second best in Germany and the current best in Spain.

  47. Murder Polis! "Murder Polis" was a scream often heard on Music Hall stages. A character, usually the principle character shouted, "Murder polis" as an ironic comment on happenings. It was an exaggeration of mundane events, skewering those intent upon making a mountain out of a molehill. In west, central Scotland, a minor altercation such as a 'stairheid rammy'(dispute between tenement neighbours) was often encapsulated as, "it wiz Murder Polis". As Stuart Cosgrove lectures Rangers Supporters, Murder Polis is an example of comedic exaggeration. If we take our minds back five years past, the Scottish Cup final had a most exciting conclusion. An injury time corner awarded to Hibs saw the Edinburgh side's Skipper, David Gray header the game's winner. Mayhem ensued, we were informed several thousand Hibees invaded the pitch in a state of exuberance; we were also told by our own club, that the majority of the Gers players on the pitch, were assaulted. A dozen players' statements claiming being punched, kicked, and spat upon, did not wash. No Hibs supporter was convicted of assaulting a Rangers player. A lot of Bears exiting Hampden that day saw the Police sitting inside their vehicles, walking down Battlefield Road, I counted eight Police transits full of Officers flicking through their mobiles. Where were the Police whilst battles were erupting on the playing surface of the national stadium? Such wondering thoughts reached a crescendo later that night, as we realised the gravity of the match aftermath? The Sunday Mail provided an answer on it's front and several inner pages the next day. Journalist and Sellik season ticket holder, Jane Hamilton utilised a fellow season ticket holder, Calum Steele to tell the readership exactly where the Polis where? Calum Steele was also the General Secretary of the Scottish Police Federation. Calum had political ambitions, he was a cheerleader for the Nicola Sturgeon led Scottish Government. Calum thought Police Scotland was a good idea and supported Police Scotland's attempt to take over the British Transport Police officers based in Scotland. Calum told Jane of his members' experiences at the final whistle. Apparently, Rangers supporters aped the actions of Northern Ireland Loyalists, we threw our children directly in front of speeding Police vehicles urgently responding to events inside Hampden. Calum was in no doubt, this was a deliberate action to negate Police action. Now, Rangers supporters made a complaint to IPSO(Independent Police Standards organisation) and it was upheld. the Committee found the nespaper had taken insufficient steps to take care over the accuracy of the article. ie the Journo, Jane Hamilton had only quoted one identified source(Calum Steele) who was not present at Hampden, and quoted several unidentified sources(all police officers) who were present but only wanted to address general concerns reference Police actions. The conclusion was most damning, "the claims within the article had been published in such a way that they gave the significantly misleading impression that they had been corroborated by multiple independent witnesses". Eight days after Rangers secured the Premiership title, BBC Radio Scotland's Sportsound invited the current Heid Bummer of the Scottish Police Federation, David Hamilton to appear on the show. You see Calum Steele is now the President of EuroCOP, representing the interests of nearly 250,000 EU Officers. Calum recommended David Hamilton to succeed him in Scotland. We know Police Scotland is a politicised force and we know Nicola is only advised by folks who proffer advice she wants, needs to hear. Anyways, David Hamilton did not equivocate, Rangers and Rangers supporters are to blame. Again, we are a few weeks from a Holyrood election and a real political need existed to remove the Sturgeon/Salmond spat from the front pages. Sincerely, I wish those long term posters on this forum who support Nationalism, would return and debate why being seen to sink the boot into Rangers and Rangers supporters is a recurring theme to the Scottish Government? It has become a habit, even today the FM was speculating on Rangers supporters spreading Covid? David Hamilton is another Nationalist using his Designation to stick it on Bears. PQ are happy to oblige. David Hamilton is the brother of Duncan Hamilton, Alex Salmond's Solicitor. Duncan Hamilton is a former SNP MSP. David Hamilton's best mate is Angus Robertson, former leader of the SNP grouping at Westminster. David Hamilton constantly abuses his Twitter account with overtly political statements. David Hamilton's personal ambition is to be a SNP Parliamentarian. I could go on. Suffice to say, David Hamilton has worked out the path of least resistance in climbing the Scottish greasy pole to success. Both David Hamilton and Calum Steele are Murder Polis, and their comedic exaggeration is no laughing matter in new, modern Scotland.
