  1. We look a different team without Aribo, and that's concerning. There's little creativity when he doesn't play. We didn't seem to fit into the 4-2-3-1 formation that we were playing. As for the game, the incident before our goal should have been a penalty, the actual penalty shouldn't have been and neither of Kent's yellows were bookings. Dreadful night for Clancy.

  2. Starting to sound like Kerryfail street on this thread blaming everyone except our own ineptitude to beat a mid table team . Play like this against the hooped horrors and we will get a jolly good thumping.

  3. I felt if he was going to play Sands then he had to play Lundstram as well and sacrifice either Hagi, Kent or Wright. You could clearly see the problem after 20 minutes and it should have been changed then. I don't expect a manager to get it right all the time but I do expect him to recognise and react to any mistakes. GvB's unwillingness to implement changes everyone could see were needed has left me with an unfamiliar uneasiness.

  4. Fifty-odd years watching us at Pittodrie told me our midfield set up was far too thin for the challenge we knew we would face. Our defence generally played well, as did Morelos - everything in between was completely outgunned.

  5. He tends not to get much game time when called up, which makes it all the more frustrating. International football - a pain in the @rse!

  6. Moaning about poor officiating doesn't change the fact that it was a poor performance by Rangers. We should be beating this Aberdeen side regardless. Two points out of six against a team who have Scott Brown in midfield just isn't good enough.

  7. I think that's a fair point. we lost the battle in midfield where we have all sorts of issues re selection just now. I would have played lundstrum instead of sands and thought he did well when he came on.

  9. One of the more worrying things was our mangers inability to see how things were developing and change the setup. Must do better.

  10. Perhaps it's the need to explain a relatively poor showing last night but I think we are grossly overstating the importance of Joe Aribo, albeit he is in a particularly rich vein of form at the moment. The truth is that while Joe is an important part of our best eleven, that's all he is. If our fortunes depend on the presence or absence of one player then it will be a long time before we win anything again.

  11. I'm gutted with the result, but Aberdeen are one of those sides that we can't quite get the better of, no matter how shite they are. They are a bogey side of ours and they only play against us. Over the course of a season, getting a draw at Pittodrie is not the end of the world.

  12. We didn't play as a team basically and several players seemed uncertain of their role (when to press, when to sit, when to run etc) which was a concern after two weeks of preparation for this game. We really need someone commanding in midfield (can we keep waiting for Jack) and more balance in an attacking sense. Losing Aribo didn't help but Wright, Kent and Hagi were all very poor for the most part but, to be fair, lacked support and decent service. It was a bad night but I'd like to think it's an exception.

  13. We were awful in the midfield. We defended well enough, the forwards had zero service but the midfield were woeful. Clancy simply should not be allowed to referee games but we got what we deserved and that had little to do with the ref.

  15. I think that one was noted a few days ago. The new one, currently in Vietnam, is Ken Divers.

  16. Our chap should have fallen and we`d have received a free kick. The linesman must have been fully asleep ... utterly pathetic.

  17. Spotlight have outed another one, who is being extradited from Vietnam. The scale of what went on at their youth club is quite unbelievable.

  18. I thought the conditions played a big part last night. They adapted better than we did. Not always easy to play our passing game with the overhead conditions we had last night

  19. It was a really poor display but not helped by the Sheep getting fouls every time a Rangers player breathed on them and getting away with many yellow/red card offences. Would also be interesting if it could be worked out how long Brown kept in Clancy's face.

  21. Morelos for me for his input. Bassey not so good but should get credit for his eye to eye with Lego muncher who steered clear after that well done Calvin.

  22. I think it is only fair to point out that we have had very similar performances with all three in the team in the past. There have been a few, but a 2-1 loss at Tynecastle against a woeful, bottom of the league Hearts side with Sibbick and Irving in centre mid comes to mind. We had a midfield three of Kamara, Davis and Jack and a forward three of Aribo, Kent and Morelos in that game. We finished the game with only 50% possession and only 2 shots on target. We also had 11 men for the whole game and conceded two proper, open-play goals and not just a gift of a penalty.

  23. As I said before, if our "wing play" doesn`t live up to what we require, i.e. pressing or providing an outlet, as well as having a shot on (sic!) target as often as they can, we have but Morelos up front against 2 or 3 defenders. Yesterday, it was large spells of reacting to Aberdeen and chasing them, rather than the other way round. Bassey was a bit jittery and had too many stray passes out of defence, Kamara and Sands (whom I won`t blame for much, as he`s not used to the Scottish game*) were tightening up the DM, but the whole front line simply did not click. And when this happens, as has been said, you do wonder why changes weren`t made earlier. The presence of Sakala, Morelos and Itten up top alone would have made Aberdeen be more cautious ... as well as providing us with better people to aim at. If anything, Itten is a target man and can hold up a ball. Hagi was marked and fell out of the game ... and we probably only had Bacuna as a straight replacement - and someone who can play the unexpect cool pass. With 5 subs available, we should have changed more people earlier ... and earlier. * I don`t really get picking Sands ahead of Lundstram, and away at Aberdeen at that. He`s a solid player and knows the Scottish game ... and may even be able to put the smile of Brown`s face with a solid tackle. Changing him in for Wright was baffling, not least when Hagi and Kent were the more obvious choices, given their performance levels.

  24. I think you can judge our midfield formula by the freedom Scott Brown had to perform pantomime while strolling through the game without breaking sweat. I felt it wasn't the players who were selected, so much as completely the wrong tactical approach from our manager. Hopefully he learns quickly. Can you imagine Walter Smith sending that formation out at Aberdeen?

  25. It will be the 'end of the world' if we finish a couple of points behind Celtic.

  26. I thought that too really. It didn’t seem like anything was done to change things tactically. In terms of the subs I thought Lundstram for Wright was an overly defensive sub and, I think Sakala would have made it easier for us to breakaway and provide some relief, as well as closing them down higher up the park. Morelos looked knackered by that point too and a fresh Itten would have contributed more. These things wouldn’t have solved the performance but I thought it was clear we needed to freshen the front players up and make sure we still had a breakaway threat.

  27. And the current board will through put any potential applications that they don't like. They've made it a closed shop, so no point in any of us trying to apply.

  28. Unfortunately for us, Nigeria and Cameroon look like the best teams at AFCON, and both are on opposite sides of the draw for the knockout stages. I can see us being without Aribo for the duration of the tournament.

  30. Barisic gets a bloody nose from a double elbow from Hayes, then Broon brings it to the attention of the ref who then proceeds to ask him to leave the pitch to get cleaned up! Broon was in the face of the ref in every single incident!!

  31. Seriously what is it with us at Pittodrie? Manager after manager, we get the same scrappy rubbish. Celtic go up there and canter to easy wins.

  34. Like most yahoos he doesn’t understand the seriousness of it all. It’s not just about child abuse. It’s about whether certain clubs knowingly tried to cover it up
