  1. Forgot to give big Balogun a special mention. Thought he was good last night defensively and holding a good offside line and the goal just topped off a good performance. Its hard for players who have been injured to give everything sometimes. Mentally they might hold back slightly. None of that last night from Leon. Felt he put it all on the line last night.

  2. Most SPL teams don't go toe to toe with us. In Europe, we're fighting another scrapper. In Scotland, we're fighting a bloke curled up into a ball most weeks. I'm more confident about Belgrade than Dundee, which feels odd.

  3. neither given as fouls. in Scotland both would have been bookings.

  4. 100% agree. There was something of the 2015/16 about him tonight. His swagger, his confidence in taking the man on. His runs were powerful and driven. He was every bit the captain. His career stats are beastly at Rangers, as are Morelos'. Tonight I'm just going to enjoy the result and the fact we have two very gifted player wearing our shirt. They will be very hard to replace when the time comes.

  5. it was utter filth. Simply ridiculous. only ever seen one pass like it before and that was Kewell for leeds years ago. If we had scored from it no better goal would have ever have been scored.

  6. I don't want to pick on Aribo because we're clearly playing him in the hope he can spark a piece of brilliance despite him being knackered. Kamara looked like he was trying to force his way into the game last night by nipping in here and there. I was pretty sure it was going to be a decent night when the Red Star player tried to shoulder Morelos off the ball and found himself bouncing about 6 feet away from him. They came with a physical mentality and Morelos loves nothing better. They got schooled last night in the fine art of the Buff. Something I've noticed about Jack is that teams in Europe highly respect him. The amount of time and space he gets on the ball is testament to how much of a Tiger he is. Players know not to tangle with him. Tav was simply outstanding, the way he was played last night was very Warburton. He was darting inside and moving around into multiple positions much like how Lee Wallace used to do. Morelos towards the last 20 minutes of the game took up the Prso position where he drifted around the corner of the box and corner flag allowing Tav to slide and cause havok to their marking system. The Morelos/ Tav combo was just too fluid for them. It reminded me of the Tav/Waghorn combo. Hopefully this is GVB admitting Tav is an out and out asset in attack and shouldn't be shackled. Bassey to me is nowhere near polished or finished but he is effective. He keeps it simple and sometimes thats all it takes. He put pressure on the backline late on by trying to keep that ball in but that is just down to his desire. Something he'll learn to control with age. All in all, we are a competent Europa league side. We're not without our flaws obviously, if we didn't have said flaws we'd be champions league not Europa. The away tie will be a dog fight and the players need to stand up to it. ps, GVB dispatching Lundtrum as a sweeper is just genius. He's not stupid or stubborn, he's watching and judging, always.

  7. I felt only 3 players didn't qualify for contention this time. A case could be made for all the rest. Tavernier was outstanding, the Jack & Lundstram partnership continues to excel, Goldson and Balogun both played well and adapted to the changing defensive formations, McGregor confounded his critics with fantastic saves, while Kent and Morelos terrorised their defence. Having re-watched much of the game, I've gone for Ryan Jack, who always seemed to be where he was needed and despite their penalty award. There's also a need to mention young James Sands, who came on in an arena of noise and passion but looked as composed and capable as anyone. This fellow is clearly a star in the making. It's been obvious for a while that Aribo and Kamara both look in dire need of a rest to recharge their batteries. These are good players who made little impact on the game and continuing to play them week after week is doing no favours to them or the team

  8. it reallyis worth noting the only decision that VAR made different from the officials was our Penalty. Certainly vital but we shouldn't overstate VAR's impact. I was used a lot but mostly to confirm they were right.

  9. I thought Kamara had a good game actually but still feel he's a square peg in a round hole to an extent. Problem we have is that Joe Aribo is clearly exhausted so we're losing a bit of impetus in our attacking play too often in games. It was a pity that some minutes couldn't be found (again) for Roofe, Amad, Ramsey or even Lowry.

  10. Great performance again. Up against a team of if you look at their individual CV's are basically old journeymen but perform well as a unit. Usual suspects turned up for us again tonight, Tav excellent, Morelos superb. Kent a constant threat. Lundstram a standout. Not sure about the Kamara attacking midfielder experiment but lets see. Cant wait to see this team who look so good in Europe struggle in Dundee on Sunday.

  11. Was Tavs performance directly related to the formation we used? We need him further up the pitch as that is where he does his best work and playing Lundstrum as a "sweeper" enables this IMO. Same with Bassey. Is almost like we are playing 3-4-3 at times.

  16. Talking of intentionality, i hope that our high defensive line was intentionally perfectly executed. Either it was sheer luck not to concede 3 goals due to their inability to overcome our defensive frailty or tactical genius on our part that prevented them from staying onside.

  18. Both of those clips will be subject to a 30 minute presentation by Michael Stewart on Sportscene tomorrow evening. He will demand the Compliance Officer offers Morelos a retrospective dozen game ban

  19. You are correct, whether it was intentional or not is another story but what a pass.

  20. Tav played a crossfield pass to Sakala (I think) near the end of the match - it looked incredible from where I was (GF1). I'll need to look out for highlights to get a better view of it.

  21. You are probably correct. The officials' catechism reading, on page one: Rangers? Check. Morelos? Check.

  23. How far have we come in four years!? From losing to some team we've never heard of to stuffing Dortmund, Red Star Belgrade et al. I need to pinch myself.

  26. Another good team performance and a few players can be very proud of their efforts but I thought Tav was our best player by quite some way last night.

  27. Can I get 7 or 8 votes please Most of the team were excellent. I know he didnt play 90 minutes but I thought Jack was at the heart of most of our play so went for him. Could easily have been Tav Morleos Kent Balogun Bassey

  29. Was great to be there the crowd were booming, there were the VAR incidents and in our favour, although the linesman flagged them correctly. Penalty scored and penalty saved and 3 goals, unreal. I am knackered from the 90minutes standing but the result was worth it. Will be a hard watch next week I guess.
