  2. Sometimes you just lose. There are always things to point a finger at when Rangers lose a game but “we blew it” suggests a degree of either intent or avoidable negligence. I doubt anyone who took the field in blue last Wednesday was aware of doing anything to contribute to our defeat. Sure the performance was less than it could have been but imo it’s wrong to say we blew it.

  3. Like renting a ferrari for 6 months and leaving it on the driveway except when your 80 year old mum took it to the shops that one time. And it spending 4 months in the garage for repairs. Mark down as a lesson learned and good luck to the guy moving forward.

  4. Oh, come off it r_s. It's blindingly obvious to any of us who have been on this forum for any length of time that you've deliberately cultivated an online persona and a style of posting that's designed to get under other people's skin. If that's what you want to do fair enough, although I have no idea what it is that you get out of it. What you've got to understand though, is that for most of us this forum is a leisure activity that we have a limited amount of time to enjoy. On the Rangers Chat section particularly, we're here for some friendly banter with fellow fans. I'm sorry to say it, but interacting with you (or even observing you interacting with others) carries with it a severe fun deficit. There are very few times when I find reading your needling, nit-picking and haranguing posts a worthwhile use of time. I doubt I'm alone in feeling this way. As I said, if that's really how you wish to post, fair enough, but don't be surprised if you end up on a few ignore lists.

  5. Small discussion with my kid yesterday : Craig : The team did us proud mate, lots to be positive about Kid : I reckon we can reach another European final in the next couple of years Craig : I hope it isnt for a while as I can't afford us to be in the final too often Kid : It could be our annual holiday Rangers, what have you created.... from the depths of wondering when we would ever win anything again.... to the heights of winning the league, winning the Scottish Cup, being in a European final.... all within 10 years. And that is why we are Rangers - because our standards are greater than our rivals. We don't celebrate failure. As Fernando Ricksen famously once said, "First is everything, Second is nothing". We are proud of this squad for what they achieved, but we won't celebrate that failure to win, we use it as motivation to go one further.

  6. Could have been a big player this season. Instead we opted for Ramsey, a decision I will rue till the day I die.

  7. I suppose I could cavil with splitting an infinitive and using a noun as a verb, notwithstanding its Latin origin but this a forum for football fans so I suppress my inner pedant. That pedant forbids the use of symbol to qualify a remark so for the avoidance of doubt, the foregoing should be read as a lighthearted response and not didactic. You know what? The inner pedant can take a running jump. One of the wee picture thingies would have saved about fifty words.

  11. You could be right mate - my memory isnt what it used to be either. Surely they will give Gio money now. However.... we also need to remember that giving him money doesnt necessarily mean transfer fees - Bassey deserves a better deal, Aribo and Kent only have a year left so should get better deals - these all cost money too. The majority of this squad should be retained IMHO - still the best team AND squad in the country - keep the nucleus together, strengthen the weakest parts (CB, RW, ST) and we could go far in Europe again.

  12. Not quite the same level.... but this is exactly what Jamie Barjonas did when he went to Kelty. Rangers were releasing him, he is far too good for the 4th tier of Scottish football - but he knew that KT played the game the right way, wanted Barjo to be pivotal in that, could prove himself in the 4th, then 3rd tier - and work his way to a bigger move. In Gilmour's case he would be coming to European finalists and with a point to prove - and will know that if he does that on the European stage then he will have eyes on him again.

  13. It isnt that it was an unreasonable question - but you asked it multiple times - you made your point, continued to ask when you could have just left it. If you found it uninteresting, that is fine. Just move on. Why continue to go over old ground asking, effectively, the same question. What was intended to be a fairly positive thread about Bassey's performance in the Cup final, using a known Rangers hater's piece as a positive starting point, it has disintegrated into a pissing contest, again. The thread has been derailed when it didnt need to be. And with that, I am out too - because I am now contributing to the exact same thing I am criticising.

  16. "Calvin Bassey is juicing". Above is the latest from our separated brethren, harvested from the Twitter feeds of the usual suspects. Apparently, "Bassey is at least double the size since the H-u-ns signed him". Oh and, Sellik's medical team have noted this, Lab' reports are imminent. Steroid Loyal RSC.

  18. Absolutely spot on compo. First 3 pages of this thread is nothing more than a pissing contest (EDIT : First 5 pages 🙄). Just because one person finds an article interesting, especially coming from a Pacific Quay CSC reporter I don't see the need for others to merely pile on with obtuse remarks. Are we really that childish on Gersnet ?

  19. What is going on? Twenty seven years past, I remember Chick Young live on BBC Radio Scotland telling us he was outside Ibrox and, Eoin Jess was inside having his medical. I see no mention of Jess on the above lists, how long does it take the club to get signings over the line?

  21. The boy absolutely gets it. He just does. Genuinely think that he greatly appreciates us picking him up from relative obscurity at Leicester and wants to repay that faith shown in him. Oozes class, on AND off the pitch. Can't believe he had a half dozen clubs reject him for their academies just 6 or 7 years ago.

  22. The three of us took pictures pre-game.... as soon as we got to the match all 3 of us put our phones in a bag and they never re-appeared till we were at the hotel post game. I will never understand those that want to take pictures during the game. None of the 3 of us even moved from our seats for the whole game - 6 hours plus without water - but no chance was I moving during the game in case I missed anything - same with having a phone out. A Frankfurt fan in front of us would be lucky if she saw 20 minutes of the game as she spent the whole evening taking selfies with the pitch behind her. Ridiculous stuff.

  25. If Gilmour was truly wanted at Chelsea he would have been offered a new contract. He is far removed from being a regular at Chelsea, being loaned out to one of the worst EPL teams in history showed that. Him failing to become a regular at Norwich will have put him further away from becoming a regular starter at Chelsea or most other EPL teams not closer to being a regular. Gilmour may or may not come to us on loan, but I'll be surprised if is not loaned out next season or if hes a Chelsea player the season after that. Oh and if he does move on a permanent deal in this window it'll be for less than £15M. Gilmour is a great prospect, but that's all he is at the moment, a prospect.

  29. Our one season in ... now 4 attempts. Our European exploits are second to none. Our domestic exploits leave a lot to be desired, not least when much of our shortcomings result from using a less than optimal line-ups and not exactly in-form players time and again without little or no adjustments. MW`s tactics were sussed out be the Scottish brickwall teams after about half a season. SG used effectively the same tactics, better but far too often the same players, changed little and thus made it easy for these teams to block us out. You may see it totally different, but the results and performances in Scotland speak their own language, as do the facts. As for Aribo, I remain utterly unconvinced of him in that lone striker role. He didn`t provide much of an outlet, didn`t really press the opposition or set up chances for others.

  40. After being one of the main reasons Rangers reached the Europa League final this season, Calvin Bassey was his team's best player in the named final. Despite being defeated on penalties, the merit of the young central defender remains intact. Two big clubs in Europe, Bayern Munich and Chelsea, try to close the arrival of the Nigerian in the next summer transfer market. Imposing in the crossing, good in the air, quick in space, with great character... These are some of the characteristics that define Calvin Bassey, the central defender of Glasgow Rangers who has been unleashed as one of the best players in the Europa League . Thanks to their good defensive work, the Scottish team was able to make a splash and met in Seville against Eintracht Frankfurt. Although the British fell in the penalty shootout, Calvin Bassey signed a pristine match. The good work of the young central defender, born in Italy but international with the Nigerian National Team, has aroused the interest of two great clubs in Europe. Despite having a contract with Rangers until 2024, Calvin Bassey could make the big leap in the next transfer market. The 2 big clubs that want to sign the best defender in the Europa League -Bayern Munich: After confirming the departure of Niklas Süle, in addition to the arrival of Antonio Rüdiger at Real Madrid, the Bavarian team has been left without possible troops in defense. For this reason, Calvin Bassey is presented as a possible candidate to reinforce the defensive plot. -Chelsea: The London team is the best positioned to sign the Nigerian defender. After the departure of Antonio Rüdiger, added to the more than possible departures of César Azpilicueta and Andreas Christensen, those from Stamford Bridge must urgently reinforce the defensive plot. Calvin Bassey, adapted to British football, would be a great reinforcement.

  41. Yes, especially if the tie was to be played next week. But the games will be played in August. Probably without some our European stalwarts and with some new faces trying to get up to speed. This increases uncertainty. Time will tell. Coming off the back of 55,.... Malmo looked very beatable. After our 92/93 exploits, we got dumped by a very beatable Levski Sofia and that was that. After Manchester 2008, we got dumped by an exceptionally beatable Kaunas and that was that. The positive this time is that we are guarranteed Group Stage football for the fifth consectutive year regardless of how we do in the qualifiers. Hopefully, the progress will continue and it will be Champions League.

  42. Our opponents doing their homework and nullifying our threat? Having our 2 main strikers out injured? Players burst due to soaring heat and after playing 60+ games per season - including extra-time in domestic semi-final and European quarter final?
