  1. One year on from his passing, much has happened since we lost Walter and I'm delighted to hear of this statue commission for a modern day legend. Such impressive leaders are difficult to replace so should always be remembered.

  2. Supporter defends one of his teams player shocker. I think Lundstrum is the least of our worries. A player playing through pain and injury maybe deserves to be cut some slack?

  3. Another game where I can't understand what we're trying to achieve setup wise and, clearly, neither do the players - though many also can't be arsed to make the effort in any case. A few periods of decent play but we look like conceding any time Napoli fancy going forward. Thought we started OK then chucked in two awful goals from a defensive point of view - once again conceding from a throw-in because players can't be bothered being in the proper position. We then created one or two wee half chances but the lack of effort/fitness showed up there. All in all, it's more of the same in Europe this season which is in complete contrast from last year which makes it very difficult to explain. We can criticise the manager all we want but at some point we have to question the pride of various players who just don't care.

  4. Balogun made 28 appearances in his first season and 37 in his second season which, since he wasn't always selected when available, is hardly someone who had major availability issues. He also deputised for Tavernier at right back when we had no replacement. I'd also point out that none of our players were "entirely reliable" in defence and, for my mind, Balogun was no worse than any other. In any case, he's gone and QPR seem to be getting the best out of him. I still think it was a mistake to let him go.

  5. I liked Balogun but was he any more than useful? He was often injured, struggled to play 2-3 games in a week and wasn't entirely reliable in a defensive sense. I'm happy enough we moved him on and have decided to develop King instead.

  6. Wide positions really worry me tonight with Tav so obviously injured/out of form and Barisic less than dependable defensively. I'm assuming we'll go three at the back again as we did in the first game.

  7. Classic Kent ruining a great breakaway there. Why is he still on the pitch?

  8. That was a great example of why Kent is not a goalscorer. He should be anticipating that pass from Morelos but he never does, he’s hiding behind their full back as usual. Abada would busting a gut to get into the penalty box area there. Kent just doesn’t see it as his job.

  9. We haven't really got anyone that can put a decent tackle in. Knowing our luck Lunstrum would do it and end up sent off or something

  10. Criticism from C1872 when they are, in good part, having their strings pulled by DK loses legitimacy.

  11. The Family Protection Programme is a non-issue for the club but the new UEFA sustainability regulations (new version of FFP) certainly are an issue.

  12. How the heck did that Shaktar player miss last night

  13. It'll not matter as we'll crucify Yilmaz and Sakala (who's already been widely criticised) when results don't go our way. Same goes for Devine, Lowrey, McCann, Lovelace or whomever we bring in. Most of our summer signings have been consigned to the waste basket, we have almost a full team out injured as well

  14. OK, the 2nd half where we actually tried to put the opposition players under some pressure was somewhat better but the lack of quality again stark through the team. Europe all but done for the season so imperative we reset with a win on Saturday. Who in this team fancies it?

  15. Been saying that for months. When did Kent last have a good game for us?

  17. Yes. Like Tav, trying to get to World Cup break then rest up then. Meanwhile others are "hiding". Heard Kamara has handed in transfer request and will leave in January whilst Kent and Alfie will be allowed to run down their contracts Something rotten happening at our club if true.

  18. What an incredible moment of stupidity from Lundstram. Did he just not fancy the Ajax game? Outrageous from a so called leader.

  19. I’ve been impressed with Yilmaz too. Much better defensively than Barisic, and more positive in his play too.

  20. I don't think there's beefy tackle in the entire squad.

  21. Recent CL games suggest we don't have too many of those. Releasing Leon Balogun was such a shit decision.

  22. Even talking about our team gives me fear! First thing I read when I came on was Sakala or Arfield for the right...... just automatically terrifies you

  23. FPP is largely a non-issue for Rangers, a distraction, certainly as far as new investment is concerned.
    2 points
  24. That's only because we had so many seasons with very low income. The FPP restrictions on Rangers will ease over the next few years as the average income over the assessment period rises. In any case FPP is more relaxed about money invested by significant owners.

  25. You'd think they'd address the boardroom concerns closer to home first rather than lecture others. Perhaps they view their members to be an irrelevant inconvenience in govetnance matters.

  26. I think Kent has lost a yard of pace since joining. You never see him flying past people anymore, and most full backs in this league are slow. Matondo’s pace is on another level but he isn’t being utilised well at all.

  27. I have never dreaded a game before to this extent. It is a question of how many and a new CL record.

  28. Surely their Georgian winger, Kvaratskhelia is due a rest. Napoli should be charged by FIFA with Cruelty if they play him against such a woefully off it Tav. Seriously, the logical approach for the Italians is to get the game won as quickly as possible (2 or 3 goals to the good by HT) then use subs and coast. So, we'll have to be ready for the fast start. So much talk about damage limitation and the obvious differences between the teams. We should be looking to surprise them early on and support counter attacks with reasonable numbers. Bottomline is that to continue alive in Europe, we need to take something from the game and the Anfield approach won't wash. We aren't keeping a clean sheet, so we'll have to score.

  29. Embarrassing all round. People will know i have supported Club 1872 but i have cut my donations from 30 quid a month to 5 and i have had to block Craig Houston on Facebook they have utterly lost the plot.

  30. Well, today's the day. Sticking with @Franc Ergs' Captain Beefheart theme, I strongly suspect Napoli will 'booglarize' us. I'm going to try to watch it but can't promise I'll stick it out until full-time. Might need some 'long neck bottles'.

  31. Club1872 has been reduced to an aimless bitching platform for a group of people who are struggling to be as important and influential as they imagine themselves to be. By far the best thing they can do is reimburse fans’ money and disband.

  32. Just another cheap publicity stunt. Do they not realise they have next to zero credibility with the average Rangers fan?

  33. It’s blatantly obvious and has been for weeks now , these players either don’t understand how GVB wants them to play , are unable to carry out his instructions or GVB simply doesn’t understand they aren’t able to play the way he wants . They have downed tools , I’m pretty sure some of the ball boys have run farther and faster than some of our team . i said it last time , he needs to go and go now .

  37. I'm not being funny here, we are in danger of being the worst team ever to grace this tournament. How did we go from EL final to this? It's not just the standard of football that's raised, we are dump and Gio is awful.

  38. Get out there and have a go we’ve nothing to lose attack from start to finish

  39. A wee bit harsh on big Leon Frankie. I think he was definitely more than useful IMO. We could be doing with his telescopic legs tonight.

  40. For me it's about the performance......Organisation, Determination and Energy If we were to get that right, the result should take care of itself, ie. a defeat, but not a doing. I'm hoping, rather than expecting. Ths is Gio's 11th CL group game as a manager 10 defeats BUT his win (@Feyenoord) was against Napoli !!!
