  1. I know it is early days, but Butland looks like he could possibly have played in either an Advocaat or Smith team.

  2. Sadly, as soon as he growled "Ah've goat the battle fever oan", there would be a collective fit of the vapours, and a rush to the sick bay at Auchenhowie.

  3. How about asking Neil Warnock to take over till end of season? Gives board time to make a correct appointment hopefully. We need to change now.

  4. Gonzo was right, dB. Only Gazza and Laudrup can play Gazza and Laudrup. Rangers will never again have players like that. The current crew is hopeless. They’re not even Derek Grierson and Sammy Baird - nowhere near.

  5. Lammers clipped one beauty from the right just begging for a head to knock it into the net. My granny could have nodded it in and she’s no DJ. Only thing wrong, it was Rangers’ goalmouth, not the enemy’s.

  6. Lammers for Hagi = £3.5m for Worse imo . Only Butland has been an improvement. Athough very promising last season, Raskin & Cantwell have been on a downward slope in form this year too. MB out

  7. I don't know what's worse. Matondo being injured or the fact that we're taking about a player who appears vital to our team but was basically on the way out the door 2 months ago. Man City are currently playing without Stones, De Bruyne and Silva yet have started the season with 6 wins from 6. I get that they are on an altogether different level but IMO it just emphasises that a team/squad with a true playing identity will not suffer as much when players are injured. On the other hand, it's no great surprise that our aimless playing style which relies on small moments of quality here and there will be heavily impacted by a few injuries.

  8. I know exactly what the board think.

  9. Jock Wallace who was a brilliant coach up to circa 1980. Then came back to Rangers and no matter Gullane, banging the battle drum, shouting at players, managed over Rangers team that's 10 times worse than the current team. It's not a coincidence that the next fulltime manager was Graeme Souness who changed the whole culture of training, diet and approach to football and lay the foundations for 9-in-a-row. We don't need a return to Jock Wallace, we need another David Holmes with a vision of turning an old fashioned and failing football club into a forward thinking and successful club.

  10. Dunno what's wrong with saying the board have made poor decisions? The manager is responsible for the players performance and the board is responsible for the managers. It's pretty logical.

  11. I am trying not to think about it. Many others, too, I am sure, will be of like mind.

  12. Just give it Giggsy 'til the end the the season...

  13. I would just add that Lammers is inferior to Hagi. Thought Dowell looked promising in some of the pre-seasons before fading from view. Otherwise no argument.😒

  14. The fact is these people largely own Rangers. They paid their money and they're entitled to make their choice. While some fans think they own the club and should decide who sits on the board and who manages the team, they don't. Fans can vote with their feet and they can voice their opinion but no one is compelled to respond as supporters demand. Turning our ire on the board is a futile occupation and always a last resort.

  15. Jinxed it. Watch all 3 get injured tomorrow 😆

  16. Again, who said or implied that this board and previous boards haven't made good decisions? The point is that current and previous boards appear not to learn from the previous bad / poor decisions. This board and previous boards have constantly made bad decisions. 9 managers in 10 years suggests constant bad decisions. Being in court for retail deals suggests constant bad decisions. Signing up for a friendly with Celtic, refusing to defend Rangers fans after the Scottish Cup Final defeat against Hibs . I could go on but there are none so blind as those who cannot see.

  17. Agree, football actually modernised and passed him by while he was here. He was stuck in the ways that won him so much as a player with Liverpool and wouldn’t change.

  18. There's always an element of luck involved when it comes to managerial appointments. The Souness 'revolution' directly benefited from the English club ban from European competitions. Any new Rangers manager has to deal with the EPL completely dwarfing Scottish football, so those halcyon days of 1986 and 9 in a Row are long gone, as are the days of players training at Gullane Sands, Super Ally, John Greig booting opposition players up in the air and all the rest. Winning domestic titles should be our number one priority. We don't need a revolution for that - we just need a good manager and some better players.

  19. I suggest, only, that the team lacks, and, thus, requires, cojones. Souness himself, was no shrinking violet, class and aggression on the pitch, and off the pitch, pretty bloody ruthless with players.

  20. Considering Souness had no managerial experience and ended up a dud at Liverpool, it could be argued Holmes got lucky with that appointment. Maybe we should look for another ex-Liverpool midfielder rookie manager. Shame Xabi Alonso is already doing well. Wonder what Vladimir Smicer and Patrik Berger are up to these days?

  21. Agreed, but out CLUB could do with someone on the board with the vision of David Holmes

  22. I guess someone could call an AGM and if enough shares vote to remove the directors then it could happen. Of course since much of the shareholding currently sits on the board, attacking the board might just be the most futile idea yet.

  23. Not made any spectacular flying saves but I like that in a ‘keeper because it means their positioning and anticipation are good. Slight weakness diving to his right not gathering the ball first time but I’m very happy with him. Not scared to lambast idle defenders.

  24. Watching the Matondo drama on Sunday, I was reminded of Naismith at Pittodrie 13-14 years past.. Naismith fell with no one around him, was treated, got up and played on for several minutes. He fell again and was removed, later diagnosed as a cruciate tear and, disappeared for nearly a calendar year. Matondo was down twice, received treatment on both occasions before going down again without contact. I suspect there will be a later diagnosis?

  25. Yep, if only Jock Wallace could be exhumed!

  26. When I say players play akin to the style of e.g. Hateley (the more direct, robust centre-forward (as opposed to e.g. McCoist or Johnston)), or Laudrup (i.e. a free roving attacker), I do not necessarily compare that player to these players' abilities. It is not that difficult to grasp, IMHO. Cantwell is having a free role behind the front line (or striker), pops up on either wing or more centrally. Same with Lammers. Hence, he is more like Laudrup than e.g. a centre forward like Dessers or Roofe.

  27. What’s happened at Chelsea they have spent a fortune on players brought in a decent manager but just can’t seem to get it right looking at Sundays line up it certainly didn’t look like a Chelsea team I don’t know who’s buying these players but it isn’t working .

  28. Did not know you had made the same suggestion, great minds think alike😀. The season can be saved with a decent manager, someone who plays players in correct positions would be a start.

  29. We have to make a change, it’s obvious we have the wrong guy. His decisions on Sunday were inexplicable, this is going to end in tears if we continue with MB.

  30. Would a DoF have prevented our poor summer recruitment? Where does the buck stop? We sacrificed a manager last year because of a DoF signing players he never wanted

  31. Yasssssssss! XG champions I think we will beat Livi. Beale has to win the comp to survive I would say
    1 point
  32. I think we'll win, people will make a big song and dance about the attendance (although we played Livi in the same stage a couple of years ago when we were champions and the attendance was 35,000), the crowd will get on players backs as soon as the first misplaced pass is played and they players will be booed off unless they've won by more than 5 goals.

  33. If the board HAVE pandered to Beale regarding not employing a DOF then yes.

  34. Quite controversial. I am ignorant of such things but I have it on good authority that Bennet and Bisgrove are of the highest quality. Would they allow the club to be damaged?

  36. I don't think that's what RANGERRAB said. He said we are allowing ourselves to be convinced things are worse than they really are. We aren't playing well - but currently out season isn't finished, or close to being finished. Some Rangets fans are attempting to down play a 1-0 EL victory of a Spanish team - our first victory against a Spanish team since 1985. We've won our last 3 games without conceding a goal, which must be an achievement since we're told our defence is terrible- Tavs shit, Borna is a shitbag, Davies is honking etc etc Even good rangers teams with players like Gazza, Laudrup, Goudhurst, Ally et al sometimes struggled to beat Motherwell at times

  38. In the mad, mad world of Michael Beale this is progress...... Dessers for Colak = £5m for Worse Danilo for Sakala = £6.3m for Worse Lammers for Hagi = £3.5m for no better Cifuentes for Kamara = £1.4m for no better Sima for Kent = No better but possibly cheaper Dowell, Sterling, Balogun all disappeared from sight
