  1. There is only 1 reason Power got off with a yellow card, and that is simply that he would miss the replay. Had Killie been eliminated, or indeed had they got through, this would have been properly reclassified as a red. The bheasts in and around the mhedia have been gunning for McGregor since day 1, more so given he was keeping us in games in the early weeks of the season and was our most consistent player, so having already failed with one attempt to get AM done earlier in the season, there was massive pressure on the CO to convict this time round. The fact it was identical to Browns lunge at Morelos at Ibrox was irrelevant. You couldn’t give them a brass neck with a blow torch and with a fully compliant press, tv and radio all singing the soldiers song alongside, the kangaroo court was in full session. Operation “nothingmuststoptheten” is in full flow.

  3. I think Ferguson is a better than decent player, from what little I have seen of him. That said, I would hope we are trying to attract a better standard than that.

  4. You clearly aren't being objective here. McGregor;s challenge was NOT at knee height - that is pure fabrication. He hit Ferguson when his leg was at its highest point, and it was on the shin. Last I checked the shin was below the knee. You're having an absolute nightmare in this thread pete.

  5. It isn't a new rule. It's been around for a while. Yes, you and the ref are wrong.

  6. It doesn't matter if he knew whether Jack was there or not. He is raising his foot well above head height and he has to have an inkling that he won't be trying for the ball unchallenged. It is reckless AND it is dangerous. He wasn't sprinting forward at all, that's nonsense. That ball had bounced up and he came to it, knew he wouldn't get there with his head so used his foot. Argue it all you want, and I will argue all day long that he was reckless and dangerous. Your "Tommy McLean" quote shows just how blinkered you are here. Power is no midget yet his foot is higher than even his own head. Jack is no midget yet Power's foot is higher than his head too. If his foot height was measured I would say it is higher than 6 ft off the ground - hardly "Tommy McLean" territory - and merely is making you a Power apologist.

  7. Like most modern Scottish comedians, he's a bit twee for my tastes (I like Jerry Sadowitz and Limmy, for the record). His comment about why he supports Celtic instead of Rangers proves he is a lying git, regardless of his comedic abilities.

  8. I saw Banks make a save from Denis Law at Wembley when we "absolutely" trounced them 3-2 in 1967. It was brilliant. I thought it was a certain goal but Banks dived backwards and pushed it round the post.

  9. Rector, not Chancellor. I think the modern way is for students to choose he biggest goon they can think of. Plug, Soutar and Bairn would have been wasting their time.

  12. Roma nearly made a right rick of it. They were 2-0 and sailing into the last 10 mins. They lost 2 silly goals taking the game to penalties. The later stages of the game weren't without their own controversy, incensing the Roma bench, even with VAR in operation as Roma scored (ruled offside although there may have been an offside earlier in the move from the limited replays I don't know nor could I see why the goal was disallowed) and they also had a penalty waved away by the referee neither of the incidents merited further examination, as far as the referee was concerned, through VAR. Before this final takes place I'd caution not to expect too much from our lads as this Roma team are in their last year at this level and its noticeable as they look much more mature, both physically, mentally and their all round play. In fact I'd go as far as to say that a few of them are ready to either challenge for game time in their first team or go out to other clubs. In contrast our lads are 03' and 04's meaning for example Alex Lowry who is 04' i.e. he's only 15.

  14. Yet you are perfectly happy with a "potentially face breaking challenge" on one of our own players ? Aye pete, as I said, you are having a nightmare here. You are happy for McGregor to see red (fair enough) - and using "potentially leg breaking" as a reason for the red.... but likewise believe Power was correct to see yellow in a challenge that was very close to smashing Jack's face in. I'm not sure whether to consider your posts in this thread as parody posts or if you actually believe the guff you are coming away with.

  15. Except it isn't semantics. Only Rangers haters would argue that McGregor hit him "on the knee". It isn't semantics just because you are so clearly wrong.

  16. I always though Neil Martin would have been ideal playing alongside Colin Stein at Ibrox and I also fancied AlexEdwards as an inside man at Rangers by the way both Edwards and Banks were both bricklayers as was captain cutlass.

  18. I enjoy the Record Rangers podcast. Scott McDermott was bang on about Morelos's second, I had thought the exact same when I saw it. He said he hadn't seen "that type of finish" from Morelos until now. That finish was the highlight of the game for me because I've mentioned before my concern that Moreos lacks a bit of technique and finesse with his finishing, he seems to go with his laces almost every time. That finish was very exciting because for me it showed he has more potential than I realised and in all honesty more ability than I realised.

  19. You must have problems with your eyesight. His leg is clearly bent and contact is made on the shin guard. That is to say the shin guard that he is wearing on his shin. Not the shin guard that he is wearing on his knee.

  20. Ian does a great job in trawling the print tabloids for their guff but whenever I see someone with a paper now I just sigh. They look like a historical artefact who belong in a musesm. Print journalism is dead and they don’t give a monkeys anymore. Anyone can print anything that is controversial or derogatory towards us and get well paid for it.

  21. The compliance officer has made Scottish Football worse and I think that VAR will also make it worse. One of the problems with the compliance officer is that the criteria for citation is unclear. I'm sure that in a previous rulebook it specifically mentioned that incidents that lead to criticism among the press and public will be cited. If that is the case then we don't need much imagination to see how the system can fail. If broadcasters, newspapers or social media contain a lot of criticism for certain incidents then those incidents will lead to citations. This puts a lot of power into the hands of the media. It also guarantees that big teams will be treated differently to small teams. When someone tries to implement VAR it will require cameras. The cameras will probably be provided by a broadcaster and the production team will have control over which footage is made available to the referee. In addition to that producers will be able to decide to follow particular players around with numerous cameras during the match. Again, this puts a lot of power into the hands of the media. The media are completely unaccountable at present. This is why they can do and say whatever they like. Why let them play such an important role in our game? The introduction of a compliance officer is a textbook example of why more bureaucracy rarely improves anything. We would be much better off if we all accepted that the referee will make mistakes and that his, or her, decision is final.

  22. Giving a red card to Power for a dangerous challenge doesn't imply all high feet warrant a red card. Only when it is dangerous. Also, McGregor didn't come out with a straight leg. Power did though.

  26. Seems to me a clear conflict of interest though, and one the wider non-Rangers supporting public won’t be aware of. People in positions of authority have to not just be clean, but be seen to be clean, ie. there should be no question of any conflict of interest. Now if I was in that position, I would be wary of penalising Celtic because if Lawwell pulled the plug on their contract, well I wouldn’t be too popular with my bosses..

  28. A fuller report to follow. Today, I attended a lunch down in Helensburgh with a few old University pals. One of the lads is a Junior football fanatic, never misses a home match at Newlandsfield, home of Pollok. He was invited to a fund raising dinner for Benburb's social club last weekend. I seem to remember Benburb's social club had been seriously damaged in a fire. Anyways, the speakers were DrStu' and Sanjeev Kholi. He described both as turgid; Cosgrove bombed, sat down to a grudging ripple of applause after 15 minutes. Failed to connect with any of his numerous faces. Kholi lasted ten minutes more, receiving similar reaction. The consensus around the table was school fees must be due.

  29. That’s an excellent point. Why should they have a right basically to make sure we’re not covered? Rangers should be trying to get removed from that contract ASAP.
