  1. I understand the loan part but i don't think we should be looking at cashing in on the boy. I think he has plenty potential to come back and be a first teamer at some point.

  2. If we get the right offer for Morelos, I have no problem moving him on. I trust the DoF has replacements being scouted.

  5. It's time we(Rangers supporters) took control of our club's history. The MoJo anniversary is once again being utilised to state he was our first RC signing. The first fifty years of our club, 1872 to 1922; we signed a few dozen RCs, the same number as most other Scots clubs. Robert McIlroy's Rangers Historian listed most of the names thirty years past. Names like Archie Kyle, five years as a regular player, over 200 appearances, and a great crowd favourite. Sellik's first ever goalscorer, Neil McCallum had played for Rangers, Doc' Kivlichan signed for Rangers twice, another fans' favourite. On returning from Sellik, he considered he had returned home. He went on to be Sellik's club Doctor for many years. Anyways, you get the message. Even when MoJo signed, John Spencer was on the books, the blatts filled their front pages five years before, of Spencer leaving John Bosco RC secondary school on his last day, before reporting to Ibrox. As already mentioned, it should not be forgotten that ra Sellik made a complete arse of their attempted re-signing. Finally, why can't MoJo return to Scotland? Nothing to do with Rangers supporters. I look forward(as usual) to the Podcast.

  6. I suspect we'll be saying goodbye to Morelos in the next few weeks.

  7. Morelos leaving only concerns me if the fee is below what he’s worth.

  8. Not sure of the legalities? would think the lawyers could call for an independent inquiry?

  9. Cheers @ian1964, looks like an early finish on Tuesday then. I have given up on Rangers Travel Club actually doing what they are supposed to do for their money and operate any travel to this match, so it will be a tv somewhere for me. I took out Premier Sports for last season's qualifiers, and only remembered to cancel it in March this year, I'm loathed to go through that again, and give them more money for an absolutely appalling quality of service. I got an email from Premier Sports this very morning advertising the game with a starting time of 5.00pm, so are we missing the first 5 mins or are they just showing how amateurish they are right from the get-go this time?

  10. I think we're too slow to understand the transition that's taking place at Rangers. By and large, we will now trade players on two distinct levels. On one level we will buy and bring in loan players who, on the basis of proven track record, we believe will improve the current playing squad. On an entirely separate basis, albeit with occasional overlap, I believe we will now buy and raise players specifically for the purpose of generating income with which to operate the club. I think we must have at least six players on board right now who are not earmarked as permanent first team players and we would probably need to revise sentiments like those being expressed about Ross McRorie. The days of regarding youth development as a conduit into our first team are over. Some may make it but most never will and, while they may be given an opportunity, neither will they be be expected to. I think Ross McRorie is one of these. In the past we frequently discarded players for knock-down prices and regarded it as a failure of recruitment and development, making a loss in the process (Martin Bain's famous fire sales). It looks increasingly like we have moved into a more commercially professional regime, thanks mainly to Mark Allen, who I think is doing a magnificent job of bringing Rangers into the modern era and his work now will be paying dividends for years to come.

  11. I would assume that the line-up against Oxford (and possible tinkerings during play) will give us an indication who will tackle that side on Tuesday. You can check the teams and our squad here (once they are up): https://www.uefa.com/uefaeuropaleague/clubs/

  13. I was at the game after Celtic announced they'd signed him vs Aberdeen and we got beat 3-0 at home. When we got him my feelings were excitement he was a good striker that scored goals. I wasn't really old enough to see how big a thing it was. Looking back though, I think the reason it became such a huge thing was down to Celtic's mishandling of it from their side. Sure, the religion factor was big and would still have been a moment but Celtic made a complete ar*e of his signing.

  14. If, next summer, we announced the Bosman signing from Portsmouth of a young midfielder with ten under 21 caps we'd probably look at that as a decent bit of business. That's what McCrorie will be this time next year. As long as he can command a regular starting place it's a good move for him at this stage of his career. If he can't get into the Portsmouth side he won't be getting into ours anytime soon. I like McCrorie but he's a squad player currently and he needs game time. Good move all round I'd say.

  15. If we are considering Shrewsbury as a loan destination for McCrorie it suggests the staff judge Docherty's time down there to have been successful but yes, the real test is how that shows on the field in games. We desperately need to start improving more players and adding value. We paid in the region of 600K for Docherty, you'd hope his value come the end of this season can be multiplied by a number around 10....That would be optimistic relative to what we are accustomed to but it's where we need to start aiming.

  16. 30 years, unreal. I think it was a masterstroke from Souness to add goals to Rangers and remove goals from Celtic - at the time he was in the top 3 of Scottish strikers. My memories of it was seeing Mo Jo signing for Celtic and I remember saying that may help Celtic win the league then all of a sudden he is unvealed at Ibrox and I recall the evening news interviewing Bears outside Ibrox who were throwing their season tickets back.

  17. Good question. For me the centre back needs to be someone at least as good as Katic. Left back still a question, Kilmarnock turned down 500k from Nurnberg for Taylor, at 21 and a Rangers fan you have to wonder if that’s one we could regret in future. We have so many players in the rest of the squad it’s hard to say though. Being honest I think we could probably do with 1 more quality playmaker in the middle.

  18. It was a great game that's why people go on about it. I've no recollection of the 1992 Scottish Cup Final, but I'll remember the semi final for the rest of my life. It's entirely possible to view one match on its own merits, whatever came before or afterwards. Big Konterman's 25 yard screamer at Hampden will stay long in the mind, but I'd need to Google who we met in the Final afterwards. We didn't win the Champion's League but I'll always remember drawing with Marseille as a great match. Drawing with Celtic at Ibrox when Butcher, Woods and McAvennie were sent off is one of my all time favourite matches. We didn't win it and we ultimately lost the league to them that season, doesn't detract from the experience of that match though.

  19. No doubt about it but given the date, this is a great chance to discuss what still remains a nuclear topic and I'm sure the lads will do a great job of doing that and also spend some time on our first EL qualifier as well.

  20. Delighted to say all our usual contributors will be returning for the new season as well as a few new voices. Well-kent RFC community polemicist @D'Artagnan will be joining the team and author of several books on the club, Iain Duff will also bring his fantastic knowledge of the club's history to our weekly debates. Journalist and current Head of News at the Dundee Evening Telegraph David Wren will be another new face and help us all navigate through the maze that is Scottish media landscape. We'll also be looking to provide more preview shows ahead of games and, technical challenges permitting, we may even be live outside Ibrox with team news and more on match-days. Feel free to throw cabbages and other rotten veg at @Govan Rear Bear if you spot him recording.
