Whataboutery isn't going to do anything whatsoever to solve the problem. We simply have to get our own house in order otherwise we're totally f*&ked.8 points

Problems with UEFA and perhaps some grumblings about one or two positions in the team aside, you won't find many unhappy Rangers fans as September approaches. An unbeaten summer programme of games at home and abroad has led us to what will be a key week in how this season (and arguably next) develops. First of all we have the chance to qualify for the Europa League group stage tonight and secure the best part of £10m for the club before taking on Celtic at Ibrox on Sunday with a win there guaranteeing us top position by three points after a tricky selection of league games through August. Two wins and morale will be through the roof but anything less then, as is normal at Rangers, smiles will turn as quickly turn into frowns as the recent summer heat turns into an autumn chill. The First Leg Although Steven Gerrard may well be disappointed with the lack of an away goal from Warsaw last week, he will be pleased with our general play. Legia did create a few reasonable openings but generally were limited to set pieces as their main threat where, by and large, we also coped okay with the Poles. Meanwhile, for much of the game, Rangers kept possession well and also created a few reasonable chances ourselves with Alfredo Morelos missing the best of these late in the game. Suffice to say the manager's prediction that this tie will go down to the wire looks to be correct. However, I'd also contend if you'd said to him that we'd need only win by any score at home then he'd have been happy with that pre-match last week. Legia Our opponents rested the vast majority of their team in their league win over Lodz at the weekend with only 'keeper Majecki and defender Stolarski retaining their place as the came from behind to win 3-2 away from home and retain their own unbeaten start to their season. Manager Aleksandar Vuković will make changes again for tonight's game and despite several bookings in the first leg, is expected to play largely the same XI as week as they seek to emulate their 2-0 away win over Atromitos in the last round. Not to mention their win over Celtic by the same score-line at Murrayfield in 2014. It's fair to say the Poles know how to play on their travels. Let's also hope the Slovenian officials are more aware of their gamesmanship than the French ones last week. Rangers For Steven Gerrard, one has to imagine he will look to keep a similar team to the first leg as well. Although our most expensive signing of the window Filip Helander has done fairly well in his two domestic starts so far, the partnership of Goldson and Katic has been an extremely solid one for Rangers this summer so the Swede may well need to wait until he has full match sharpness before displacing one of the first choice pairing. At full back, Borna Barisic showed he's not always a passive observer with a fine free kick winner in Paisley and it will be interesting to see if he retains his place tonight. Jon Flanagan has proven his defensive usefulness in Europe already this term but with goals a necessity for Rangers tonight, Barisic may well get the nod on the left flank, if not from the start but certainly later in the game. In midfield, we have a host of players we can choose from - both in terms of the deeper three and the more attacking two players. Recalled international midfielder Ryan Jack has arguably been the pick of the bunch and will be a certain starter this evening. The experienced Steven Davis and one of Joe Aribo and Glen Kamara should form the rest of the deeper three. Further forward is less difficult to anticipate. Sheyi Ojo picked up a knock in Warsaw last Thursday but trained fully yesterday so should be available tonight. As such it should be between him, Jordan Jones and perhaps Andy King for one of the positions behind the striker. Scott Arfield will surely occupy another but after 85mins last week and the same again at New Love Street, will the Canadian be better utilised from the bench later in the match? Or might Joe Aribo be pushed into a more attacking position with Glen Kamara retained deeper to provide some defensive insurance? Other options include Greg Stewart, Jake Hastie and Jamie Murphy but it would be a big surprise if they featured. In the lone striker role, neither Morelos or Defoe haven't let us down so far this season so it's a big positive that the manager can select either and pretty much ensure a tough time for opposition defences. It will surely be the Colombian to start tonight though and he'll been keen to make the most of any opportunities a stiff Legia defence may offer. We will have to take any chances that come our way. Conclusion All things considered, it's a fool's errand to try and split these teams. Both are unbeaten in their competitive games this season, both seem strong at the back and both look capable of scoring from open play and at set pieces. Yet with home advantage, Rangers must consider themselves favourites tonight. That's not to say Legia are not a very good team or won't fancy their own chances but if we're to compete with the best Europe has to offer then these are the kind of difficult tests we must pass. A win tonight and again on Sunday is very much mission possible for this Rangers team. It's now time to prove it. Possible Starting XI (4-3-2-1):7 points

There's no need for proscribed songs. Just don't sing about fen!ans, the pope or the IRA. No idea why anyone would when they are there to support Rangers anyway.7 points

I thought Jack was immense (again) tonight. Maestro! He should be first name on Steve Clarke's team sheet.5 points

Dichotomy. The PQ Gang Hut selection for BBC Radio Scotland's coverage of Rangers visit to Paisley was Big Dick as Objective Host, Liam McLeod as Commentator, James McFadden to add colour, and Chic Young to provide touchline information. The first few minutes had Defoe played through for a shot on goal. Liam McLeod thought he was offside and was surprised the officials had not called it. McFadden was strident, "that was offside, it looked a clear offside". Liam confirmed it was offside because Chick had seen a replay, "no doubt". Then, Liam added, "I am hearing in my ear, Chick has seen another angle". Chick apologises for the bum steer and concedes, "Defoe was on side in the first phase". McFadden concludes, "it looked offside". Confused? You soon will be. As the first half nears the end, St Mirren have a penalty shout. A jersey being pulled, an arm across, a foot catching on the turf leads to self trip, and Rangers defender goes down along side St Mirren attacker. Well, a dozen slow motion frame by frame shots are required from all camera angles to begin the rationalisation process. Liam calls a penalty, McFadden adds, "stonewall". Chick is fulminating and at half-time, Big Dick apes Jock Brown's line about sense of grievance. The usual Sportscene crew of Jonathon Sutherland, Steven Thompson, and Michael Stewart are all in agreement, Defoe was onside in both phases and it was NOT a penalty. Reference UEFA's charge against Rangers supporters' sectarian chanting, Beeb Scotland mostly decided to play with a straight bat. Taking it in chronological order, Shereen Nanjiani had Angela Haggerty as a fourth guest(it is always three) on her show being broadcast live from the Edinburgh Festival. Angela made her expected contribution, placed emphasis on her Irish catholic background, articulated her anti-racism credentials, and went heavy on the Irish famine, resultant migration, and job parity. Further, Angela revealed she is four months pregnant. Off the Ball was sanguine, DrStu' berated the SFA and the SPFL. They drew the teeth of any opposition(there was none) by constantly faux blaming of Peter Lawwell because Rangers supporters blame ra Sellik Chief Executive for everything. The theme of course was, 'Songs'. This led to DrStu' and Cowan both stating they hate Isley Brothers' songs, 'Summer Breeze' and, 'Shout'. Lulu or Marie McLaughlin is cringe worthy, particularly that accent change she adopts when she returns to play Glasgow. Seriously, this from DrStu', who every week goes from couthy fitba fan on a Saturday to PhD thruster on Thursday's Media Review. Lulu was born and bred in a room and kitchen in Dennistoun, DrStu lives in a Big Hoose in Dennistoun Drives with access to a private communal gardens containing nothing but creeping hypocrisy. Sportsond spent forty minutes discussing the topic. It's a fair cop was the message, and it is. Michael Stewart based his line of, 'they've only themselves to blame' by wondering aloud about issuing an orange strip. The token Rangers supporter, Derek Ferguson led a spirited defence, pointed out he played at Rangers in worse days and never issued an orange strip. Michael added, "your colours are blue and white". Billy Dodds toting that EBT was straight in, the orange strip was a homage to Dick Advocaat and the huge Dutch influence on the club when I was playing". Michael added, "there's no Dutch players at Ibrox now". Billy Dodds and Fergie battered him and it was Big Dick's intervention about the 2000 Scottish Cup final that ended a heated debate. Tom English was covering the rugby? Saturday evening on the new Beeb Scotland TV channel has a show called, 'The Seven'. It's hosted by an Irish chap, Nick Sheridan. He has three guests on each week to discuss current events for an hour. A breathless Angela Haggerty, and her pregnant too; was hot foot back from Edinburgh to tell of her Irish catholic background. A fourth Angela comes forth continually. These last fifteen years, our club and the support have been in an engagement with FARE. We have been warned, we have been punished, and we have allowed an element of our support to continue their nihilist behaviour. They don't care about our club, they don't care about the rest of us desperately seeking to continue supporting our team. They care only for their own selfish need to shout, 'fcuk the pope and get intae these dirty Fen-ian bastards'. I have stated before on this thread, the mood music at PQ has changed since the start of the season. Some of them knew what was coming, if we are honest we knew it was coming. It does explain why Beeb Scotland called out sectarianism in Rangers supporters ranks, whilst completely ignoring se4ctarian chanting emanating from Sellik fans at Fir Park and the Green Brigade's 'Fen-ian Army' banner. They would run interference on what they knew was coming. If they are honest, they will admit it, but they won't do so, they will just file it under, 'whataboutery'.5 points

Maybe not OK and you may have a point but we cannot blame FARE for everything. The Billy Boys was eradicated for years but a small number started singing it again under the motto "Ah but the tims". Unfortunately it grew until where we are now. We knew it was banned. We only have ourselves to blame. They can only shoot us if we give them the ammunition. It really is that simple.4 points

Maybe our 'rookie' manager knows a bit about football and how to build a team after all? I don't see anyone laughing about the "stupidity" of it now.3 points

Can I point out that the away fans are situated next to the family section. There were kids crying and people choking around me. Luckily my niece couldn’t make it tonight. I have said this before, the Scot squad are a national disgrace. They escorted these animals in and out yet couldn’t be arsed to search for circa a dozen smoke bombs. I’m absolutely raging ffs!! As it is my throat is burning too! This was a set up tonight and thankfully we didn’t fall for it. Someone is going to get seriously hurt and plod couldn’t give a monkeys!!3 points

There seems to be a perception that we are being picked on by U.E.F.A. That we are the only team who was ever punished by U.E.F.A. Does the list of charges above do anything to dispel that notion? If so then can we drop any futile ideas about going after U.E.F.A. and F.A.R.E.3 points

If you you're referencing the singing of No Pope Of Rome in Eindhoven then I can categorically assure you it absolutely happened and UEFA duely presented Rangers with a video of the match sans commentary but with the isolated audio direct from the microphone at the Rangers end, but hey pretend away that it's all a conspiracy. We can deal with FARE later but we need to deal with our songbook now. We really need to stop doing our enemies work for them eh?3 points

A well deserved win. Yes, we lost our way for periods in the game but we were the better team for most of the game and that late goal is priceless. Some good performances as well: I thought Jack and Davis dominated the midfield whilst defensively we were again very good with Katic a deserved man of the match. Yas!2 points

Legia fans mate, Rangers fans were absolutely outstanding tonight2 points

Started well with a good tempo but game has gone scrappy since Morelos missed a headed sitter. We're doing largely ok but far too wasteful in good positions; Tav, Ojo, Morelos and Arfield all guilty of giving the ball away and we also need more from Aribo and Davis. Other than one mistake from Tav, we've done well at the back and Barisic is having a good game.2 points

Very good preview. One thing you mentioned was whether the officials will be wiser to their gamesmanship. Surely it will be far less of an issue because you can be sure that Ibrox will be going ballistic with that kind of thing. Far more pressure on both the Legia players and the ref. Barisic and Flanagan is a really interesting one. I'd normally say Flanagan but tonight I think Barisic. Barisic isn't just a free kick specialist he's excellent at corners too and that could very well be the difference in a tight game. He's better going forward too and I wasn't impressed with Legia as an attacking threat anyway. I don't think we rest anyone for Sunday unfortunately. Celtic are in the same boat there though. All in all it is very exciting to be where we are. I did not expect us to get so close to making the groups this season and to get there would be a huge boost. To go out to this Legia team would be a really big disappointment though simply because they are clearly just not very good.2 points

Cos it is just big bad Rangers that FARE are interested in! Separate Entity FC fans showered Cluj players with missiles as well, nothing to see here!2 points

A fine preview. The midfield personnel is the key to both game and tie. We must control the tempo of the match. I agree with Frankie's midfield selection. Reference left back, I don't know. Both Barisic and Flanagan have their merits. I noted Legia played the diagonal switch last week on several occasions. Barisic has a habit of being caught by that particular ball. Flanagan is the better defender, but his reliance on his right foot ............../ One thing, when Legia defeated ra Sellik 0-2, it was at Murrayfield.2 points

I think the problem with mainstream media is that whilst some of their content is good and remains prevalent, the negative aspects of their reporting means many won't promote it. That's a position I have myself so other than respecting copyright laws and asking people to include links to source material, I can't promote or fund stuff that doesn't directly help our club.2 points

If I were Duncan, I would be changing my agent pronto.2 points

If I'm honest, I think Legia will score tonight so I think we'll need at least two goals. I'm entirely comfortable starting Flanagan but part of me thinks, let's just cut out the middle-man and get on with the most important part of scoring the goals that will win the tie. I don't fancy being overly cagey and playing for penalties via too much angst about losing a goal. The midfield balance will be crucial and I'm not saying we're good enough to rest players but that we're not good enough to accommodate tired ones that aren't doing enough over 90mins. With that in mind, I think Arfield might be better from the bench tonight with Kamara used as an extra cover for the full-backs but that also goes against my middle-man argument above. I don't envy the manager that's for sure!2 points
-
1. Not losing an away goal is more important so Gerrard starts with Flanagan. 2. We're not good enough to rest players in a crucial game like this. I agree to an extent about Arfield but he did set up Defoe in the best chance of the game on Sunday and Aribo is unproven for us in the role behind the strikers. Sunday will take care of itself, but I'd guess Gerrard looks on tonight as more important so Arfield starts. 3. He hasn't but then again Kamara hasn't looked great either, and Aribo has that little bit extra that could create a goal.2 points

I'll be surprised if it isn't the same team that started the game in Warsaw.2 points

I can't imagine that UEFA are conspiring against us. They don't care about us at all in fact, just like they care nothing for most of the teams outside of the main 5/6 countries. They rely on FARE to do a job which then creates the perception that UEFA are serious about tackling racism etc in football. It is FARE that is clearly biased. Having said that, we should take this opportunity to stop using certain language and songs. They are divisive, unnecessary and damaging to the reputation of our club. I see no need to tackle anyone on this except ourselves. We have a problem and it needs to be sorted so I hope that all of our fans behave from now on like sensible adults and keep our brand safe. If they can't, just stay away.2 points

Is there anyone left in our support who doesn’t think FARE are out to get Rangers? They are working to an agenda set by our enemies. In 2012 there were individuals & organisations trying to close Rangers down. They haven’t gone away. Some of us need to realise that.2 points
