  1. I will be honest and say our failure to buy a striker cost us today. As soon as Morelos was injured I feared for the game today.

  2. Over half a century supporting Rangers I’ve heard the same response to every setback and period of adversity- sell that player, fire that manager, sack that board. I heard it when we were winning trophies and I hear it now. In truth it’s almost never the right answer. I’m happy to go against the grain and say what we need now is unity and calm decision making …. It may not be enough to win the league next season but it will certainly achieve more than division, discontent and knee-jerk reactions.

  3. Sounds like a bottle hit a Celtic staff member on the head. Whoever threw those should be hunted down and taken to court for that. Absolute scumbags. Rangers need to act and find them straight away.

  4. Its not all about McGregor, but we don't need a keeper like him if his ability to make those world-class saves is literally the only positive to his game. His distribution is slow and inaccurate... he's not great with the ball at his feet... he doesn't come for crosses... he doesn't command his box at all. Legend or not, he should have been our number 2 this year and should have been dropped a number of times this season. Someone is a scapegoat when they get blamed for mistakes others have made. He's been getting a hard time from fans this season for mistakes which are all of his own doing.

  5. I’ve just seen the goals on tv since I got back from the game, McGregor is woeful at their first. It’s not even a great shot is it?

  6. Oh and to those Rangers "fans" who threw bottles onto the pitch, do us all a favour and fcuk off and don't come back.

  7. I agree, but how many years is it now that we've been relying on Morelos and seem to have no clue what to do when he's not in the team?

  8. There's a lot of debate about whether GvB is a suitable replacement for SG. Tbh I'm not sure what that even means because, except for one league title, Gerrard achieved so little at Rangers and the disappointments during his tenure were routine. I really liked Gerrard but let's not kid ourselves that we filled the trophy cupboard when he was here. Gio has a completely different personality and it may not be to everyone's liking but I find it hard to judge him as a Rangers manager at this stage. The team on the park is clearly struggling to find its best form but that was also true for Gerrard's first 2 seasons and the first half of this season too. I think the truth is we need a better manager than Gerrard and it will take another season at least before we know if Gio is that man. Mistakes have been made at all levels of the club this season but there are no magic wands and we only have our own renewed efforts to fall back on.

  9. Goes without saying that today was hugely disappointing. We should have built on our quick fire start but for some reason retreated and let them control the game. The 2nd half was so predictable and we could have played until midnight and got the same outcomes from the same pass/cross. Their CBs were getting to everything so I'm still bewildered that we persevered with the same one dimensional tactic. Oh well. The league was not lost today. It was lost in the countless draws against piss poor teams.

  10. The board must shoulder some of the blame, they knew how important this season was and the financial reward for getting to the group stages, but couldn't fund a couple of quality players in the summer transfer window to help get there. Many players are beyond their sell-by date, and have been for a while. Signing Ramsey was too little too late considering how long it needed to get him fit.

  11. We need to be better in attack and defence than today. We weren't terrible but we didn't create better chances and didn't take our half chances. Whoever threw that bottle should be ashamed and jailed. those were two very clear cut penalties we should have and the ref saw both.

  12. So the Scottish Cup semi final - we can dismiss that as a meaningless match that we don't have to win? That's a huge relief, i was worried, and now i don't even need to watch it. Gio will be glad not to have the pressure as well. Please let him know.

  13. Cammy, you always seem to lose composure after a setback. It’s like you’re determined to make the suffering as bad as it can possibly be. Gio is the manager and will be the manager next season too. The board isn’t going anywhere either. I don’t have to think they’re all world beaters but I’d be a poor supporter if I couldn’t raise some optimism about the future.

  14. Under SG we were undefeated against Celtic for 2 years and prior to that, had defeated them at Parkhead and played them off the pitch at Hampden. Under SG we had a style of play, the players knew their jobs and knew what was expected of them. We had Beale and Calshaw who is take back tomorrow. Under SG we were 6 points clear of Celtic and had beaten then at Ibrox with a Covid ravaged squad. Under Gio, we've surrendered that lead, lost twice to Celtic (one an absolute hammering, one a whimper of a performance). We've regressed alarmingly since Gio has taken over, the league and the performances atest to that. Board have a huge decision - either back Gio significantly if they believe he is their man, or remove him. Backing him with words is pointless.

  15. Not dropping McGregor has been a huge mistake by GvB

  16. Anyone who`d think SG would have done anything different to Gio is IMHO kidding himself. SG has played the same style and players throughout his reign. It were the players who threw the games away big time, namely McGregor and Goldson ... while our striking drought was never addressed. Ramsey is and was a spark, yet we removed him and let Aribo and Kent do nothing. The day we introduce another striker and a couple of decent wingers (which we have) will be the day we start challenging again. We have talked about the rot for ages, blamed players and coaches alike, yet the most glaring thing is never changed.

  17. If we’re honest, that result reflects perfectly the performance of the two clubs on the day and overall since New Year. It’s stretching the imagination to see this Rangers team as a title winning outfit. What’s much more worrying than losing one league championship is the gulf that could open up next season with the financial resources that will be available to Celtic. Last season seems a very long time ago.

  18. When you play -for ages now, the same missfiring people in the front line, hoping that they have a fine day ... matchday after matchday, month after month, year after year, you get what you deserve. Kent an empty jersey, Aribo too, no real service to Roofe and some spark when Sakala arrived. Calamitous defending at their goals ... I for one won`t be missing Goldson, given his passing today. We throw away minutes of game time with these pointless passes at the back, usually ending up defending, as we can`t handle a good pressing game. Would have been good to top our 150th year with a title, as it stands we hand the Scum a direct entry into the CL group phase and money to pay their paedophile charges, if any. Can`t say we aren`t generous ...

  19. Why can’t we deal with high balls in to the box? Mark your men and clear the ball. Not f&cking rocket science is it? Broken record time… McGregor continues to cost us with his inability to command his box. How long was that ball up in the air for him to come and punch it?

  20. For me Sakala could be the key today. Sit him on the shoulder of their last defender and knock long balls over the top to use his pace . It will force them to defend deeper

  23. Exactly. Success cannot just be measured in terms of trophies. How many could we have expected to win in 2018? None is the answer, given the shambles that the club was in.The most important trophy is the one that he won, the cups are irrelevant really, nice to win but don't prove anything. As for next season, I don't think there is a clear alternative to van Bronkhorst at the moment and I can't see any other scenario than him being manager when the new season starts. We have to see what he can do from there, but however it goes there will always be another season. The lows are as much a part of things as the highs.

  24. Morelos injury was the end of our season imo

  25. He also made a breathtaking save that could have been pivotal. And let's not forget his recent European performances. Please let's not make him a scapegoat.

  26. I understand entirely and really I can't argue with a word you say .... but the one thing we always have to find a way to face is the future and that can't always be painted black or there would be no point going on.

  27. Right, right, except for home draws to Aberdeen, Hearts and Motherwell. As an aside the team just happened to find ways to drop six points in those matches. The point of substance is that there was something not right with the team. This has continued through almost all of the season.

  28. The domestic cups are nice to win if you are winning the league, the take on greater importance when you have chucked the league.

  29. This is why the rest of the season looks so bleak. You have to wonder why we don't have a similar style of backup.

  30. So Bill is right, they won't remove Gio, so need to back him. Then let's see whether Ross Wilson can fund a significant rebuild with some player sales.

  31. No, go back and watch some of our early season matches. Think you will particularly enjoy Hibernian at Hampden.

  32. Demanding a Europa league win is just silly. Why worry about a treble? The domestic cups are nice to win but utterly meaningless.

  33. I also think it’s important not to get carried away in our disappointment. We clearly have problems at the moment but as far as I can see, nothing that’s beyond fixing.

  34. 1. We have no plan B when Morelos is not playing, manager seems incapable of coming up with something different. Roofe is entirely different player. 2. Aribo way off the pace. 3. Kent too inconsistent. 4. Goldson thinks he's Beckenbauer. 5. Manager slow at changing things and when he does its the wrong one e.g. keeping Aribo on.

  35. You know that's not going to happen. The real question is where will we be after another full season of GioBall?

  36. We could have played til midnight & not scored second half. Disappointing to lose to such a poor Celtic team Roofe nowhere near the player when he joined us.

  37. 12 point swing since Gio took over. No excuses, management team and board (for not investing during the winter window) need to take a long hard look at themselves (as some of our players).

  38. League gone and now staring at them getting a treble. How the mighty have fallen. Now have no confidence in the management team who look like they can get it right in Europe but are so out of touch domestically. This could knock us back years - just handed them £40M - let that sink in.

  39. Was that a McGregor mistake? It's a poor parry. Saying that, why is Rogic unmarked?

  40. Missing Morelos is bad. I think that we are less likely to create chances without him but more likely to take any that we do create. Only a win will do today.

  41. Let's get right into them the day! Not felt this sick before a game since about 20 year ago! Massive performance and leave everything out there. Worry about Thursday when Thursday comes! Let's dismantle this shower today.

  42. It’s important we start the game well. They’ll come flying out the traps at 100mph. We must be ready for that but they can’t keep that up for 90minutes. I hope Ramsey plays. His class could be too much for them alongside Kent

  43. This should make the outcome quite easy to predict.
