  2. While I agree to an extent, I don't believe this forum is anywhere as bad as twitter or some other forums for mindless abuse and where there seems to be joy in bad performances so that they can say "told you so". The force and toxicity of the negativity do seem to be self-perpetuating, and while the team should be able to rise above it, it obviously IS having an effect on the performances.

  3. Also we only let in 3 more goals than Celtic last season but scored 21 goals less than them, so the defence was not our main problem.

  4. The sad part is that Rangers only have ONE guy in that top ten...and it's our right back. Pitiful.

  5. Our defence is pish imo, so scoring more than the opposition is the way to go.

  6. Btw their left back Owen Beck is getting rave reviews at Dundee, he was called up by Wales in the intl break so must be doing something right. Good age, possibly one to keep an eye on with Borna slowing down and Ridvan failing to impress? Ian Rush is his Great Uncle I think.

  7. I'm expecting a tough game tomorrow. Dundee will be up for it and we still have a lot of work to do to become a better side. Just get a win and have everyone fit and ready for Sunday.

  8. I've always liked a setup based on a solid defence, defending is a simple job you work hard in hand with you teammates you cover for each other and you make your tackles count none of this shadowing your opponent when I watch our lads it reminds me of schoolboys you always stuck the diddys in defence to run about and our back line are our diddys

  9. Past few years we have been so behind on GD that its almost been like an extra point for other mob fc. This needs to change.

  10. Given the problems we have against the low block, I've got to say attack.

  11. Both to be honest however our failings last season (league and cups) were more down to piss poor defending in key matches. Last season we actually scored more goals than we did during the 55 season but conceded 21 more goals. Our defence should have been our focus in the summer IMO not the forward line.

  12. Highlights and stats for the game don't look that bad, but once again, 6 mins of quality football can't be our standard.

  14. I could he wrong, and happy for some one to prove me wrong, but I think Tavs number without penalties would still be on the "High end" for defenders, both domestically and in Europe (a EL level).

  16. Sorry I've just seen this now mate. I'd put that down to more of a device issue than anything else I'm afraid.

  17. In the SPFL? Offense. Nobody does offense. Everybody is this league plays D...almost exclusively. Outside of the top two, teams rarely score more than 60 goals over a 38 game season....shit...most struggle to get over 50 a season. Yeah, definitely offense in this league.

  18. If FIFA had any integrity they would have put aside 2034 and said to Australia - you're the only continent not to host one so its all yours and use other nations around you if you wish. An Aussie WC with NZ, Singapore and Kuala Lumpur chipping in would have been superb. (Flight time from Perth to SG is the same as Perth to Sydney). Granted SG and Malaysia are technically Asia with Australia being Oceania but Singapore and Kuala Lumpur are great cities who wont get to host such event. European clubs are quick enough to head out to these nations for pre-season for the cash, I can see far more pre-season trips to the middle east from now on.

  19. Money talks and they have more than anyone it’s probably only a matter of time that they have teams in the European competitions

  20. Spurs will probably hit a bump soon, if they lose Van der Ven at the back or Maddison they wouldnt have any replacements which is the difference between them and the rest. But they will still have a good season and I think they will be close to 4th points wise. Im sticking with Villa for 4th they have better depth than most, they lost two key players early in the season and havent missed them. Plus Emery has to be one of the best "coaches" in the league. Liverpool have their mojo back but are still lacking something that is tricky to nail.

  21. That ball from McCausland to Danilo was an absolute peach btw, every bit as good as Tav's assist - the action on the ball was exquisite. If I've seen Scott Wright doing that it was in my dreams because I've yet to see that quality in the flesh.

  22. It's not just the constant negativity, it's the force and toxicity of the negativity. This thread and the forum in general is a perfect example, never mind the wider support.

  24. We don't actually concede many, so for us - right now - scoring goals is what is needed.

  25. I’m not sure Cifuentes and Dowell have anything to contribute. I’m not sure Lawrence can avoid injury for long enough to contribute.

  26. Add me to the 'not sure why we didn't buy Shankland' camp. He was the best forward on the park yesterday, scored one, created Hearts best other chance and held the ball up really well all match. He's 6'1", 28 years old and scored 24 goals last season in the league we play in. I suspect he'd have cost way less than either Lammers or Dessers too. He's also Hearts captain which suggests he has some presence around the dressing room too. Buying the best Scottish players available has worked well for us in the past. Shankland's experience of our league, ultimately the one we need to win every season, could have made him a real asset. It's all moot, but I'm a t a loss to what our football department saw in some of our summer signings but didn't see in Shankland or indeed Nisbet. As for yesterday I thought it was going to be one of those days we've become so used to in recent seasons. That it wasn't might be very important, or might be a blip, time will tell. Hearts tactics were so defensive, it was a grim watch. I don't think Mr Naismith will be in the job for long if that's what his side are displaying every week. We huffed and puffed but didn't look like blowing them down until we did. It was a better performance than many we've seen this season, Clement has improved us, but ultimately it's the same players and there's only so much you can do with them. A fully fit Cantwell and Danilo will make a difference, it was also good to see Dowell make the bench, if Lawrence and him can stay fit then who knows. Even with that we need more goals in our team. If only there was a proven goalscorer in our league we could consider...

  27. Apart from a certain poster claiming special intel without substantiating it, this just seems to be the same story rehashed endlessly by its wannabes. The only surprise is there isn’t an OF game on the horizon
