The Jolly Bhoys' Outing. Madrid in the second week of December is most attractive and the PQ Gang Hut have been rubbing their hands at the prospect since the Champions League group stage draw. Tapas and vino veritas is just the very rub. Of course, only those that are up to date in their sub' contributions need apply for a seat on the Beeb CS bus. Leaving from PQ and, pick ups at the Admiral Bar and Candleriggs. In the Spanish capital since Sunday night, both Sheelagh McLaren and Martin Dowden did traveling supporters VoxPops for Monday and Tuesday lunchtime and evening TV news. James McFadden and Liam McLeod did Brendan's presser and Monday evening training at the Atletico stadium. Tuesday night saw the same pair do the match commentary. In the studio were Big Dick, Aiden McGeady and, the current unwelcome Tom English. Post game, the consensus was the plucky purveyors of cavalier football were unjustly undone by Masonic VAR. Aiden was particularly upset. We can only assume Pat Bonner and Chris McLaughlin missed the bus? The game finished Atletico 6 Sellik 0. Thus, there were no mentions of the result in Wednesday morning, lunch or, evening bulletins. No supporters VoxPops either. An admiral decision or more probably an Admiral Bar decision? Wednesday night and former Sellik TV employee, Michael Stewart brought much needed gravitas to the situation. He told the listenership that Sellik were deserving of six points from their two Champions League home fixtures against Lazio and Atletico. Further, only one of the red cards in Rotterdam was correct and last night's red card for the Bushido Warrior was also a travesty. There you have it, the Jolly Bhoys have decreed Sellik have at least seven or maybe nine Champions League points and do not forget the bonus three points for hitting the post against Real Madrid last season. The next stop is Rome where Connie McLaughlin, Amy Canavan and, Sheelagh McLaren will perform a re-enactment of, 'Three Bhints in a Fountain'. I wonder who won the bus sweep?7 points

I have no idea why some fans get so hung up on the young player thing. We're not a normal club and we don't have games that aren't must win. We recently sold a couple of youth players for decent money (Gilmour and Patterson).2 points

Considering we have (or should) a monopoly on young Scottish talent and that we're only really competing with one other team domestically - the fact that we don't produce first team players regularly is pretty embarrassing. It'll never happen but we geniunely could replicate what Ajax do in the Netherlands and probably find it easier to do so with the lack of competition in our league and resources of the clubs outside the OF. I agree with @JohnMc above, not that it should be scrapped, but it just boggles my mind that the club is dead set on being sustainable (as it should) yet we just don't give young players chances. Or sign young Scottish talent. Am I being a bit thick when I say that's it's a proverbial tap in? And I don't mean start games with 4 or 5 teenagers btw, ideally we would have signed players like Josh Doig and Lewis Ferguson supplemented by players like McCausland and Rice. It's not even that radical?!2 points

I've long questioned the point of committing resources to a youth program that produces so little benefit to the trophy cabinet. Either the youth programme is flawed or the entire concept is pointless. At the moment we appear to be pursuing a youth set up purely out of little more than habit. as things stand, I'd prefer if the entire football operation was dedicated to the first team squad.2 points

As long as they have more points in the SPFL than us they won’t care. Was funny to watch though.2 points

Peter has recently accepted a position on a high powered UEFA Committee. I am reliably informed he will sort out the refereeing conspiracy determined to stymy Sellik's deserved progress. Tonight's Referee from Slovkia, Ivan Kruzliak attended a non-denominational school in Bratislava, regularly attends Lodge Danube and, is current Grand Wizard of the Brown Fadouk. Sellik TV have footage of the Ref' mouthing the vile, sectarian song, "it's Slovakian easy, it's Slovakian easy". Peter will prevail.2 points

Ngl I'm getting a bit of a 'all fart and no shite' vibe with our academy atm, if you're going to poach top candidates from Belgium to work in our setup but give none of our players in our academy !!SUBSTANTIAL!! minutes then what's the point? We get no help from our national association granted but it shouldn't be this difficult. You just can't tell me that we've had a team of young duds for the last 5 years? Kinell, I'm English and it's pissing me off that Rangers can't produce their own. Look at the women's team for example, 7 call ups in the last intl break to the Scotland squad and building the team around young shoulders. Rant over ha.2 points

Ticket allocations and prices have been confirmed following discussions with both clubs, and the relevant authorities. Rangers will have access to approximately 25,000 tickets across the South, North and West Stands for the fixture on Sunday 17 December, kick-off 3.00pm. Aberdeen will have access to up to approximately 19,500 tickets in the South and East Stands for the game, which will be shown exclusively live on Viaplay. • South Stand Lower Section O2* - Adults £49 | U-16/Over 65 - £28 • South Stand Lower Section P - Adults £44 | U-16/Over 65 - £26 • South Stand Upper Section Q - Adults £44 | U-16/Over 65 - £26 • North Stand Sections C & D - Adults £44 | U-16/Over 65 - £26 • West Stand Sections A & B - Adults £39 | U-16/Over 65 - £22 • South Stand Accessible Seating - Adults £18 | U-16/Over 65 - £6 • North Stand Accessible Seating - Adults £22 | U-16/Over 65 - £6 • West Stand Accessible Seating - Adults £12 | U-16 Over 65 - £61 point

Family friend or not he's hardly a poster boy for our youth set up or someone I'd be holding up as an example to our current young players. Are you really comparing Rangers to Falkirk? We've really only got Nathan Paterson to show for years of work and millions invested. Gilmour left the second he could, as did Mebude and Rory Wilson earning us very little in reality. More importantly we've really only got Leon King as a recognised first team squad player and he's what, fifth choice now? I've unhappily come to the conclusion that we'd be better off focusing our energy and money on finding players in the 18 to 21 age group. Bassey, Aribo, Kent, Morelos have provided far better value for us, I think Lewis Ferguson, Doig and Hickey could have done similar too. Hopefully Raskin will prove a good player for us and command a decent fee in the future. If we accept that we're now a stepping stone club, a tier below much wealthier leagues, then those are the kind of players we should focus on.1 point

Aye SAF said in his interview that he served an apprenticeship whilst he was playing, a toolmaker iirc?1 point

Back in my day lads that went to Highbury got a first class football education but in case they didn’t make the grade they were give a job either in the city or they learned a trade like electrician or plumbing to fall back on I don’t know what happens to them today do we just discard them if so then that’s shameful.1 point

Ok but it's funny how Man City (and L'pool etc.) manage to produce talent like Foden and Lewis into their team despite signing ready-made players for millions; don't tell me there's no pressure there for success.1 point

It's an interesting idea, doing away with the youth setup. Brentford did it, mainly because they couldn't justify the outlay. Instead, they focused entirely on their B-team; hoovering up young and overlooked talent through data analytics. We do have a B-team, and seem to be increasing our use of data-driven scouting. I wish we could get our B-team in the professional leagues, too.1 point

Forgive me for my rudimentary know how but surely the club could secure a loan off the back of the new season tickets available? I'm no expert so please tell me if I'm being simple but if we fully fill in the corners and lower the pitch to add 6 rows on each stand - roughly 10k say, could you use that to secure the loan? The cheapest ST's we have are £500 more or less, you'd pay off a £50m loan in a decade and won't have to cut costs?1 point

Charlie Miller didn't come close to fulfilling his potential, he was genuinely one of the best players in the world when he was a schoolboy. Barry Ferguson did, but I doubt he would have if Advocaat hadn't taken over when he did and chose to build a side around him. Of the players you've mentioned above I suspect only Bailey Rice has a real chance of making it with us. The rest will get some games but I can't see them become first team regulars, I expect they'll move on when their contracts are up. Lowry still has a chance, but his inability to secure a starting berth in a poor Hearts side suggests to me he's still missing that something required to become a top professional. We hear the same platitudes about pathways and opportunities trotted out time and again, but I honestly wonder if we should bin our youth set up and simply focus on our first team. Indeed I'd go as far as to say all professional football clubs in this country should.1 point

Meanwhile, the Scousers gleefully sang "Lizzie's in a box" at Ibrox and various other grounds last season. That song is specifically mocking a person dying, whereas the 'always the victims' chant doesn't reference death or Hillsborough. Such blatant hypocrisy should be called out.1 point
-
Agreed. Liverpool fans are claiming that it's about the deaths, but there's loads of examples of Liverpool claiming to be the victims, their refusal to be respectful to the royal family because of Margaret Thatcher (go figure) being one.1 point
-
What did they sing specifically in relation to the deaths of fans? I only heard GSTK and the usual 'always the victims' one, which is more of a general point about that support and their never-ending hypocrisy.1 point

Has anyone been to the fans forum tonight? Apparently the finances for the last year is coming out in the next week or two and that we've made profit for the second season in a row, let's see eh. I'll include the 4lads notes, I rate what Stevie does and he's usually pretty reasonable with his views. Here it is anyways...1 point

I agree mate, the lower leagues was the chance to reset but the management (on and off the pitch) were scared stiff of even attempting to focus on young domestic and academy talent..it's a big bug bear of mine.1 point

Today's Herald sees Kevin McKenna aka, 'the Godfather' travel to Kirkton in Dundee and meets up with Jum Spence aka, 'the Rectum'. The dynamic duo are intent upon resolving the social and economic problems present in the Clootie City suburb. Last week, the Kirkton denizens barricaded off a couple of streets, built a bonfire and demonstrated their inner Bash Street Kids mentality. PC Murdoch took a bleaching, the Godfather and the Rectum are donning capes. It is all very Desperate Dan. Jute, jam and, Jumism saves the day.1 point

We live in the best of times, we live in the worst of times. It is an age of wisdom, it is an age of foolishness. It is an epoch of belief, it is an epoch of incredulity. It is the season of light, it is the season of darkness. It is the spring of hope, it is the winter of despair. Whatever your preferred prejudice, we must acknowledge these are woke times. ViaPlay are to be congratulated in covering the entire spectrum of inclusivity and diversity. Yesterday's panel for the Scottish League Cup semi-final between Hearts and Rangers had it all. The panel assembled for broadcast covered all the bases, it was : Marvin Bartley - black. Alan Hutton -white. Emma Dodds - Lesbian. Michael Stewart - complete and utter ginger cnut. It is the way ahead.1 point

Mary(Tiny) was a true Ranger. Her family, particularly on the maternal side had an almost unbroken century of service to the club. I believe her Grandmother was appointed by Bill Struth in late 1929, as a cleaner for the opening of the then newly constructed Main Stand?1 point
