  1. Went to the museum on Saturday, along with my Dad and my two sons. All of us thought it was excellent. I'd my doubts as to the viability of a museum but I now think I was wrong, it's a great addition to our club and well worth the time and relatively small expense required to visit. I booked it in advance and there weren't many spaces available for Saturday when I was booking, so be aware of that. There's a real mix of exhibits and information. My eldest, who is leaving to study architecture in the summer, was taken with the Archibald Leach made model of the Main Stand and the information around that. Strangely, something that really struck me was Colin Jackson's contract. A player I remember watching and a man I met in later life professionally. Highly recommend a visit.

  2. Where does Oor Frankie find the time? Truly an East Lothian renaissance man. Tour Guide to be added to unicyclist, juggler, sword swallower, fire eater, plate spinner, eater of the boiled ham raw, gigolo and, goalkeeper.

  4. I'm led to believe the Doig swap story is genuine; same with the Connor Barron pre-contract.

  5. I'll never forget seeing him at the 1970 World Cup I think when he played with one arm strapped up and waltzed through an entire defence.

  10. Aye, agreed. I took my father in law as a wee xmas present just after new year, stadium tour first, then the museum, absolutely superb value and the aul fella loved it. Tour guide was excellent, Billy was his name but I never caught his surname, sure I recognised him from somewhere. Can't recommend it enough.

  11. I think I confused myself with double ju-ju there. Pity the Board doesn’t have a resident witch doctor to advise on protocols. Best match of the round. Arsenal had five scoring opportunities in the first ten minutes and plenty more throughout the match but could do nothing. Martinelli came on and was unstoppable for five minutes then seemed t lose his touch completely. In the last quarter hour Liverpool brought on two primary schoolboys. They played like Bobby Moore and Franz Beckenbauer. Wednesday beat Cardiff City. Two questions. How did Wednesday manage to score four goals? How did Cardiff not score about six minimum from umpteen chances including two saved penalties? The Tyne/Wear Derby was a sensational spectacle of noise, fanaticism, hatred and colour, then the football started and it wasn’t so good after that.

  12. I am left bemused and perplexed by the entire handball shenanigans. What on earth is a subjective handball? I thought VAR was supposed to bring more clarity and less subjectivity to the game. By my understanding of the rules, Johnstone's hand was not in a natural position and he moved his hand towards the ball and played it. These are two of the considerations that would bring about a penalty and a second yellow and red card. I saw the incident on TV last night again and watched Johnstone. His face tells a picture. He knew he had messed up and was waiting to be sent off. So, the ref missed it but VAR saw it. No problem we said, it is a clear handball but in 30 seconds Collum says no handball. I don't believe Collum is a cheat but he is a coward and incompetent. He did not use the opportunity to properly review the incident from various angles nor ask the ref to come to the monitor. The SFA have made matters worse by calling it a subjective handball when everyone knows that is nonsense. I would have preferred if someone with football knowledge and knowledge of the rules of the game had attended the meeting with the SFA. I have the feeling that they would run rings round Bisgrove and he isn't savvy enough to see through them. We are now in a place where the SFA have doubled down, the REFS are calling for a meeting and the 2 real culprits Clancy and Walsh have got away with it. Clancy's 2 minutes extra time at the end of the first have when there was a lengthy injury stoppage, substitution and a (albeit short) VAR call is a joke. Walsh's entire performance was strewn with errors entirely to our detriment and in their favour. He missed an opportunity to give Johnstone a second yellow when he had already yellow carded our player in an identical situation and another (can't remember his name) should also have been shown a second yellow. It was one of the worst performance I've ever seen and he does it all the time. These 2 are the real culprits and work to Celtic's advantage every time they are required. It is disappointing that the rest of Scottish football have yet again lost their tongues.

  17. We booked in advance, and it was busy on Saturday. I imagine there are days it's busier and days it's quieter, worth checking that before you head off though.

  19. Gelhardt's a wonderful player; strong, quick, good dribbler and his build-up play - in the right system (Bielsa) - is superb. He is not a goalscorer, but can play anywhere across the front-three and #10. An option to buy would be superb. He has the potential to go for a lot of money down the line. A straight loan? Nope. We shouldn't be developing players for other teams.

  22. I would be happy with that deal. What I have seen of Doig at Hibs, he always stood out as having decent ability. Even if Ridvan was a slightly better player, which I really don't know, Doig has been far more available. Barron seems low risk and worth pursuing

  25. £6m right now when we can get him on a pre contract would fucking blow my mind. I'm all for getting players in early but at the right price. 6m for 6 months left is howling recruitment.

  26. Some weekend gossip ... Rangers will not face a battle with Celtic for the signature of Nottingham Forest defender Scott McKenna, with the Scotland international not on Celtic's list of targets. (Record) Meanwhile, Forest forward Emmanuel Dennis is reportedly keen on joining Rangers and is a more likely option for the Ibrox club than Brighton's Steven Alzate. (Record) (Given that Dennis is a striker (all-round attacker) and Alzate a DM (box-to-box type), they are not an "option for each other". But homework and the Daily Record are no option for one another either ... ) Twente Enschede left-back Gijs Smal, out of contract at the end of the season, is linked with Rangers. (Sun) Ridvan Yilmaz may be used as part of a swap deal in Rangers' proposed signing of Hellas Verona left-back Josh Doig. (Record) Rangers full-back Ridvan Yilmaz is on the verge of a switch to Serie A side Verona, but Rangers' hopes of Josh Doig moving the other way as his replacement are fading (Scottish Sun). And Rangers have been linked with a move for Dutch left-back Gijs Smal, whose contract with Eredivisie club Twente expires this summer (Daily Star - print edition). ... Scott McKenna and Gijs Smal will be added to the OP soon. The latter seems to be a likelier target than all other LBs mentioned so far, but who knows. Before this transfer window, I did not really envisage that "left back" would become such a talking point, nor that Ridvan would be willing to go to rock-bottom Verona after being given a constant run in the team. Who knows what is/was going on behind the scenes. IF he goes, I would hope we won't spend large parts of his money on a LB replacement. After all, albeit not perfect, we have Barisic, Balogun, Devine and even Sterling who can step in there if needed. 27. VAR, VAR, on the wall, Who's the fairest of them all? Is it the ref, or is it me? I'm confused, I cannot see. The ball went in, or so I thought, But VAR says it was offside, caught. I'm left to wonder, what's the truth? Did VAR make the right call, or was it uncouth? The fans are angry, the players too, They're all shouting, "What did you do?" VAR just shrugs, and says with a grin, "I'm just a machine, I can't commit a sin." So there you have it, VAR's decision, It's final, there's no revision. We'll just have to accept the call, And hope that next time, we won't fall. our next song if we can remember it (Verse 1) VAR, VAR, what's the score? I can't keep up anymore. The ref's on the pitch, but he's not in charge, It's the machine that's living large. (Chorus) VAR, VAR, it's a mystery, It's changing the game, can't you see? It's making us laugh, it's making us cry, It's the star of the show, oh my! (Verse 2) The ball goes in, the crowd goes wild, But wait, the ref's not sure, he's feeling mild. He checks the screen, he takes his time, And then he makes the call, it's sublime. (Chorus) VAR, VAR, it's a mystery, It's changing the game, can't you see? It's making us laugh, it's making us cry, It's the star of the show, oh my! (Bridge) Some say it's fair, some say it's not, But we can all agree, it's a robot. It's got no heart, it's got no soul, But it's making the decisions, that's the goal. (Chorus) VAR, VAR, it's a mystery, It's changing the game, can't you see? It's making us laugh, it's making us cry, It's the star of the show, oh my!
