  2. I've watched so many showreels of players we're signing / supposed to be signing ,ending in complete disappointment, that i don't even bother to watch them at all now. Valuations are of little relevance too when you think Wolves paid 35m for Silva. I'd expect world class, and a cut above for that sort of money , but from what i've seen so far ...well he's maybe 3.5m at best, though still room for improvement. I blame the EPL for the crazy valuations , they're fucking it all up for everyone else.

  3. In the light of day, after Killie away, he couldn't stay, In the match day thread, grief I did breed, for my opinion, they wouldn't heed. From the enlightened few, came comments askew, Declining belief in Beale, their decorum began to veer, as bad results drew near.

  9. In a nutshell. Sometimes it’s better not to win the header so long as the other guy doesn’t get an easy go at it.

  10. Great minds, I was about to use him as an example!. This is where stats can be unhelpful, McCall may not have won a huge amount of aerial duels, but you didn't have a free header if he was marking you, this makes a huge difference. We have many examples of great midfielders that you wouldn't say were dominant in the air, Albertz, Tugay, Ferguson, Reyna to name but a few....

  11. After the past few years, I don't understand how anyone can get excited about new signings. Far too many disappointments.

  12. Let's hope we pull another couple of transfers like Diomande out of the hat, with no-one knows anything in advance about it.

  15. I think it remains pretty important in Scotland. It's one of the main ways poor teams in our league get success against us. Agree on tackling though. Diomande’s tackling stats at pretty hard to understand. A mix of good and bad.

  19. Red flags were there in the stats for most of our summer signings. In particular, the stats indicated that only Sima was a good goalscorer. The rest all had very average xG vs Goals, or very poor in Lammers’ case. I don't know how Beale expected that to go. The usual caveats apply with Diomande as with any in terms of settling in and adapting, but I don't see red flags in his stats at least, other than being hopeless in the air. Very good signing on paper.

  23. I would keep Jack. He is our finest midfielder. If we can get 20-30 games a season from him, along with his presence around the club, I think it's worth it. (And make him retire from the national side.)
