PC is rightly protective of Sterling, and has openly said Igamane is building up to the physical standard required at this level. Game was won anyway, and tbh we should have scored more once those changes were made.7 points

He does. He’s a footballer. Some observers were too quick to judgement.4 points

I’d suggest though that looking back in hindsight the Rangers board regret the GvB sacking then throwing 10’s of millions to a rookie like Beale4 points

"Woeful, absolutely woeful defending by Nice". At half time last evening, the score was Nice 0 Rangers 3. Immediately, I switched over to BBC Radio Scotland and host in the PQ studio, Big Dick Gordon took over from commentator, Al Lamont and began, "woeful, absolutely woeful defending by Nice". To reinforce his comment, he chuckled. When Rangers are defeated by Aberdeen, Killie or, whoever the PQ Gang Hut are always anxious to credit the victors. Quite correctly, Rangers problems are given less emphasis, all kudos should be awarded to the celebrating side. However, when Rangers(a Scottish club) achieve another notable result in Euro competition, the Euro team's failings are long discussed. Remember, BBC Scotland supports all Scottish sides in Europe. Rangers appear to be most fortunate in Europe, we always face poor sides. I guess it is a phenomenon coined by the Scotsman's Glenn Gibbons back in the day, "the Rangers bounce". Glenn was a big Sellik man, beloved and regularly lionised by Graham Spiers. "The Rangers bounce" was his comfort blanket. Let's all do the Bouncy.3 points

Only saw the goals but delighted with the win. Igamane was a breath of fresh air and Cerny keeps doing it.3 points

Possibly with a better pass although the defender was quick to close him down. Cerny was always the better option with Igamane being used as decoy.3 points

Great game last night. Big Phil deserves some credit for the performance, as do the players.3 points

Apparently the GB (they hate it abbreviated to this) have been kicked about Glagow twice this week. Once by UBs and then by Brugge. Not that I condone violence, but had a little chuckle when I heard this.2 points

Had the misfortune to hear Richard Gordon and even Neil 'Two Hats' McCann* downplay last night's fine win on BBC Sportsound last night. Isn't it amazing how many poor teams we've played in the last five years in Europe? Just good luck it seems delivering this ranking for Scottish football (H/T https://x.com/swissfootdata) Triple click the image to see it full size. * I've noticed quite often that Neil wears a very different BBC Shortbread hat compared to his RTV one. He is a decent pundit IMO and I'd much rather such people were objective but there's a difference between rightly calling Nice awful (let's face it they were) and not also really giving us the credit for what was a performance full of hard work and physical strength.2 points

Hes getting sacked today supposedly.2 points

Why take off IGmane and replace him with the dud that is Dessers likewise with Sterling to be replaced with another dud in Tavernier if it's not for an injury then i think it shows the manager doesn't know a winning team when he see's it .2 points
-
I'll second that with Cammy. Not getting a full season was criminal. He was on a total bad patch that nobody will deny that but its been backwards since.2 points
-
Various people could easily have got it but has to be Igamane for getting right in about them and not allowing the early missed chance to affect his play. His second goal really was sublime.2 points
-
I don't recall Sebo being a cult hero, any hero status was a bit of a piss take, he was shite. Shankland is a reasonable SPFL level striker who takes Kris Boyd-esque levels of time to get fit after injury, so one we should avoid. An assist and a double for Igamane is superb to see, he's a long way to go yet, but at least (along with Danilo looking decent recently) the big dunky up front has some competition. Edit - and we need to be signing Cerny permanently IMO.2 points

A gifted chance is still a chance. I'm not getting carried away with the win, though: Nice were all over the place at the back.2 points

The Diamonde goal was superb ,almost as good as the Carter-Vickers one from last night.2 points

Cerny was written off after only a few games. Tavernier has not performed well at all this season nor last.1 point

I like McCann as a pundit, and never listen to BBC so can't comment on his comments whilst he is commentating with them. As for Nice, I think we can all see how poor they were especially in defence and think the crowd testifies to how serious (or not) they are taking this compition. I'd say they were one of the poorest teams we've face's in recent years. However that shouldn't detract from the performance, result and our continued great European success.1 point
-
Got to agree with the names already mentioned but I also liked Sterling's performance. Gave a security that we haven't had for a while. Souttar also had a really good game. Overall though it's toss up between Igamane and Raskin and I'm going for Raskin.1 point

As far as Dessers coming on, and Cerny comin off goes Big Phil is being canny with his squad of players. It is no surprise that we have perhaps a third of the amount of injured players under Big Phil that we did when GVB was fighting, albeit with some success in europe. I am happy to let the manager manage the squad so we never have to get to a point where a young lad (King) and an on loan midfielder (Sands) are our central defensive paring in a european tie. Still with Phil1 point

Nice haven't lost a game at home all season. Manure's new man, Amorim - when Braga manager, only lost 2 games, both against us. Both of these came from my fitba stato work colleague this morning, so if they're wrong, it's his fault.1 point
-
I'd agree, however surely Muscat and McInnes are lazy journalism rather than any actual serious factual information.1 point
-
That miss by Dessers was almost Van Vossen-esque:if we had any doubts that he should be second choice striker then they are now removed. And if Muscat /McInnes are the alternatives then I would rather keep Clement; the latter has some status in Europe and will be more likely to attract quality players.1 point

That was news to me aswell, I thought he was call over. Correct decision though.1 point

Delighted with last night's result but have to admit I don't think I've ever shouted at the TV more about keeping the ball when being 3-0 up as I did last night. An incredibly open game, full of passing errors but cannot fault the effort and fitness of the players throughout. We really did get in the faces of the Nice side and, like Olympiacos the other week, they allowed us into their heads and we looked dangerous every time we countered. We must take that attitude into domestic games along with finding further improvement on the ball. Finally, Nice were poor (oh boy did BBC Shortbread repeat that) and yes they had some injuries but we're told that's not an excuse for us recently so it was very much job done by us and very much a result to be proud of.1 point

Agreed and the same can be said about Clement to an extent (Cortes as an example). Rangersrab stated that there may be a reluctance to sack Clement due to him getting results and therefore much needed income in Europe. There is a valid argument in that opinion, but all I did was point out it didn't save Gio who generated more income (via European results) than any manager since Walter Smith.1 point
-
But the intial post was about income not results. Gio got us to EL final and CL group stages. We generated more income for qualifying for the CL group stages than we did for getting to EL Final. It would also be argued that the run to EL meant we got top dollar for Bassey. So income wise, Gio generated more than any manager since Walter Smith took us to Manchester or Alex McLeish took us to the CL knock out stages1 point
-
We shouldn’t get carried away with any result in Europe as it’s been proven to be a complete outlier to our domestic and overall form. Nice and FCSB quite clearly couldn’t be arsed playing.1 point

Cos we got pumped in every CL game we played in?1 point

Can we get a SPL manager and keep Clement for Euro games. Good defending in the first 5 minutes to keep their storm out - you want to see that, good save by Butland then the centre halves throwing themselves at the ball. At first I was wondering if Diomande meant that goal but after watching over its a good finish. The best bit about Igamane's first was the way he took it around the keeper - a sublime little chip to lift it around the keeper. Then he megs the defender for the fourth. And Dessers miss at the end where it was easier to score must cement Igamane to start up front now.1 point

2nd January is a Thursday, just saying.....1 point

... as was Jefte, and even Ridvan late on. We need to get Danilo and Igamane on, fit and raring to go. Dessers scores his goals, but he's not exactly a prime centre-forward to drag you out of every game. And like every striker, he has his "downtime". Still, nothing I would sleep about. We have the players, we just need to get them played correctly for every game.1 point
