  1. The Moral Compass. The nation's Jiminey Cricket, Michael Stewart waded into Alex McLeish's sacking last night on BBC Radio Scotland's Sportsound. He was speaking on behalf of his constituency, the Tartan Army. Of course, Michael's hoped for constituency was Edinburgh West, he lost the prospective parliamentary candidate race for the SNP, to Michelle Thomson. Since we are getting all moral compass, let's hope Michael did not purchase a property from Michelle? Anyways, on behalf of the Tartan Army, Michael stated a main objection to McLeish was, "he is a recipient of an EBT". The only other two I have heard utilising this reasoning on the same means, are DrStu' and Jum Spence. We have to admire the moral fortitude of the PQ Triumvirate, having to share both studios and broadcast air time with both Billy Dodds and Stephen Thompson. Both are recipients of EBTs. Particularly, Michael sharing that Sportscene studio twice a week with Thommo; we should pray for Michael. Let's hope Thommo's immorality never runs interference with all that exposure Michael is receiving? Talking of DrStu', he failed to trap for yesterday's BBC Radio Scotland's Media Review. His appearance was not necessary, the other regular contributor, Dr Eamonn O'Neill quoted DrStu' twice during the elongated discussion on the Kezia Dugdale/Rev' Stuart Campbell defamation case. DrStu's oft' repeated objection to McLeish's appointment, was his refusal to, "give up his big house in Fulham". DrStu' was consistent, in that he objected to Gordon Strachan refusing to give up his big house in Hampshire. He demanded the national coach lives in Scotland. Both good Doctors were anxious to broadcast their view that the Rev' Stuart Campbell did NOT loose the defamation case, or that Wings Over Scotland was not the loser. Dr Eamonn quoted DrStu', "you must remember, there is Wings Over Scotland and there is the Reverend Stuart Campbell, Stuart can be a bit spikey". We can only assume DrStu' has failed to factor in the Grid Magnetic Angle whilst setting his moral compass, the Rev' Stuart has a big house in Bath. Obviously, residents of Somerset are exempt, you need to live here to manage Scotland, but you can pontificate constantly on every aspect of the nation's administration from the Georgian town these last thirty years. Staying on the moral course and paraphrasing Dr Eamonn, 'there's Trainspotting and there's Irvine Welsh'. DrStu' loves dearest Irvine, continually lionises his literary works. I agree, Trainspotting is a literary triumph. We must state right from the off, Irvine has at least two big houses, one in Chicago and the other in Dublin. Like the Rev', he has been away from Scottish shores for over a quarter of a century. Irvine touched base this week, a fellow Hibee was shot dead outside his home in Chester Street, Edinburgh. Bradley Welsh appears to be a much rehabilitated character, from football casual to boxing gym proprietor to actor? Although, today's press are claiming inability to look after £130,000 of drugs was the reasoning for the shooting. Irvine Welsh issued a heartfelt tribute, indeed he claimed his heart was broken at the news. This is not an attempt to intrude upon private grief, it is an on going query on Irvine Welsh's punk rock band of 1976, 'Stairway 13'? Will DrStu' reveal Irvine's inspiration/stimulation for the name? I would ask Irvine again, but he is unreliable in his claims eg he claims to be sixty years of age, but police records have evidence of another birth certificate stating a 1951 date of birth. I hope Stairway 13 did not play Markinch, that really would be heartbreaking. Finally, Angela Haggerty claimed on BBC Radio Scotland's Shereen Nanjiani show recently, "the IRA are a defunct organisation". I wonder if Angela would care to tell that to the family of fellow Journalist, Lyra McKee? She was shot dead last night in the Creggan area of Londonderry by the IRA. Go on Angela, set your moral compass and, 'Call it Out'.

Several men were interviewed in a pub in Derry's Bogside by Jewish playwright and journalist Tuvia Tenenbom (62). In the clip, Mr Tenenbom asked drinkers why so many Palestinian flags were flying in the area. "You have a lot of Palestinian flags here? Why do you support them?" he said. One man answered: "Because we hate the f***ing Jews." "The Israelis are child-murdering scum. "They stole their land and killed their children." One of the group shouted: "The only thing Hitler did wrong was he didn't kill enough f***ing Jews." The man added: "They're the scourge of the world, the scourge of the earth." Mr Tenenbom was filming in Derry for part of a documentary series he was making on Brexit. The comments have been condemned by politicians including DUP leader Arlene Foster, Alliance leader Naomi Long and Ulster Unionist MLA Doug Beattie. Mrs Foster branded the comments as "disgusting". "The small Jewish community in Northern Ireland will always have my support and that of all right thinking people," she said. Mrs Long said she hoped the comments would be investigated. "No place for this disgusting anti-semitism in our society. None," she tweeted. "Neither have you any credibility criticising the actions of the Israeli state whilst making such despicable comments about Jewish people and praising Hitler and the Holocaust. I hope action will be taken here." Mr Beattie tweeted: "This must be condemned by all right minded people & all political representatives and parties." "But I certainly don’t think this is mainstream thinking in Londonderry or anywhere else in Northern Ireland."

  6. Sorry Bluedell, I am a pedant, the three streets ie Janefield Street, Dalriada Street, and Kinloch Street) were sold to ra Sellik for ONE PENNY. That is ONE PENNY, after 300 families received resettlement grants averaging £4k per household, the housing was demolished, and the land cleared.

  7. I suspect any return on further development of the existing stadium would be a diminishing one. The stadium is a product of its time and seems not to have been built with a view to future extension or fundamental improvement. Any significant uptick in capacity is going to require near-total redevelopment, which will be entirely possible when Scotland wins the World Cup and Bill Gates' Rangers wins the Champions League. Until then maybe we'll have to settle for the stadium we have and focus on fixing the holes in the roof.

  10. https://www.heraldscotland.com/opinion/16354369.agenda-by-susan-aitken-glasgow-intends-to-take-a-strong-stance-on-marches/ 13th July 2018 Agenda by Susan Aitken: Glasgow intends to take a strong stance on marches By Agenda by Susan Aitken, Leader, Glasgow City Council ... Modern Scotland prides itself on tolerance. What we cannot tolerate is hate crime, sectarian, racist or otherwise. ... ... Official participants may not be involved in sectarian and anti-social incidents around parades but it’s simply not enough to absolve themselves by pointing to hangers-on. They need to step up and take wider responsibility for those they attract and refer to as their wider support and networks when it suits. What happens on your watch happens on your watch. ... ... Only where the police have intelligence of significant and serious disorder do they object, allowing parades to be either prohibited or re-routed. And it’s worth stating that Orange parades are not the only marches where police action has been required in the past year. ... ... We are governed primarily by the European Convention on Human Rights. It permits freedom of assembly to all and any, including those we disagree with. And the key principle of the 2006 Scottish Parliament guidance on parades is that the role of councils is to facilitate, not to adjudicate on who can and can’t. Ideology and costs are not factors. The law is explicit in what applies to one parade, applies to all. https://www.scotsman.com/news/humza-yousaf-most-people-in-snp-want-to-get-rid-of-monarchy-1-4127741 Humza Yousaf: Most people in SNP want to get rid of monarchy A LEADING SNP politician has admitted “most people” in his party want to get rid of the Queen as head of state, despite its official policy to keep the Monarchy. Humza Yousaf suggested the SNP’s position to retain the Monarchy in an independent Scotland was simply an attempt to secure more support for breaking up the UK. Appearing on the BBC’s Question Time programme, Mr Yousaf said: “Most people in the SNP – it would hardly be a surprise to you – would at some point like to see our head of state elected. But for the purpose of independence we said we would keep the Queen as head of state.” ... https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-scotland-glasgow-west-28194554 Orange Order defends right to parade 7 July 2014 ... The 12-year-old girl was said to have been watching the parade when a fight broke out among a number people nearby. This resulted in the girl being hit by what is understood to have been a bottle. She was treated at Yorkhill Hospital for a head injury, but was later released. Her relative was also hit with the item and suffered a cut to her hand. ... ... "Over the last two or three years the Orange institution has worked endlessly with Police Scotland, Glasgow City Council and other local authorities to ensure that we are reducing the number of police by training stewards. ... "We have over 3,000 stewards trained at this moment in time which allows the police perhaps to reduce their numbers and concentrate on any disorder that may arise from the followers of our parade." ... More facts Ad infinitum for those who wish to search for them. Some people want facts but are too lazy to search for them or maybe it doesn't suit their agenda to balance their argument. We know the leader of SNP on GCC has an agenda because she has written about it and has spoken about it ad nauseam. She has said she will stop the Loyalist Orders from marching where she deems it inappropriate. She bases her argument on the attack by a thug at last year's Orange Order walk. She berates the OO for not taking responsibility for their pavement supporters. I would ask her how this can be achieved. The OO are allowed to parade with marshalls to make sure that all personnel within the official parade are behaving in a dignified manner within their cultural limits. It is the job of the police to handle any trouble outside the constraints of the parade personnel. She admits that there were no OO personnel involved on the attack on the priest, why were the police not protecting the chapel as the parade passed by? Ordinary citizens are not equipped with the training or the equipment that are bestowed on the police. So, again how can OO personnel interfere with the public walking on the pavement? She is taking her agenda to extremes by blaming the OO and not the police for the attack on the priest. If she thinks it is that easy for the OO to convince people, whom they do not know, to be entirely peaceful and law-abiding then maybe she could get Celtic FC to share with the OO how they always manage to keep the brigade of green under complete control. It must be easy because the Compliance Officer has never cited Celtic for crowd trouble. Now she also states that what is good for one party is good for all. Here are the details of another parade ... Organisation West of Scotland Band Alliance (n.b. are the oldest Republican marching organisation in Scotland formed in 1979. They march to promote the establishment of a 32 County Socialist Republic of Ireland. The band alliance regularly organise events to commemorate Irish republicans who have died for those politics. Wikipedia) Date of procession Saturday April 27, 2019 Start time of outward route 12:30 Assembly point India St. Proposed route India St. ... Nelson Mandela place ... George Square ... ( n.b. The St George's Tron Church, in Glasgow, Scotland, is a Church of Scotland church in the city centre, located in Nelson Mandela Place near Queen Street Station.) ( n.b. In George Square we find the Cenotaph. The monument was unveiled in May 1924 by Earl Haig. In the background of this image are the Glasgow City Chambers, opened in 1888 by Queen Victoria. In the foreground the wreaths surrounding the cenotaph ...) Now according to the esteemed SNP leader of GCC, her agenda states that it is inappropriate for the OO to parade past an RC church. remember, what is good for one is good for the other. Why then has she allowed a Republican band to parade past a Church of Scotland church on their parade? Also, their avowed intention is to remove all Brits from the island of Ireland and yet she lets them parade past the revered Cenotaph. Do the police have any intelligence that republican sidewalk supporters have any intention of disrespecting the memorial to our soldiers or a respected CoS church? Balance in an agenda is very good but when she represents the national SNP party at local level and whose national leaders freely admit that they lied when they said they would keep the Monarch, the Defender of the Faith, as Head of State then it becomes difficult to not perceive that she is working an agenda which is detrimental to Loyalists. The Vanguard Bears may not speak for every protestant in Scotland but I'm quite sure they speak for a great deal of protestants. If only I had an agenda I could post here ...

  13. The background of a 'no-go' area. You could substitute the Bogside, and many more communities, for the Creggan in this story. On the one hand you have the duly appointed Police Service appointed by the legally voted upon authorities and on the other a little gang who have appointed themselves protectors of the 'no-go' area. Here are the respective points of view ... PSNI ... https://www.bbc.com/news/av/uk-northern-ireland-47987269/journalist-murder-in-londonderry-a-horrendous-act Gang ... The language of each is telling. Police - search operation Gang - series of attacks; an incursion; campaign of oppression; attack on the community etc. Gang - the inevitable reaction to such an incursion was resistance from the youth of Creggan - why, is it inevitable if their logic has not been warped? - the blame for last night lies squarely at the feet of the British Crown Forces - Why, did they throw petrol bombs or fire shots indiscriminately towards civilians? - we admit that a Republican Volunteer fired the shot that killed Lyra McKee, but it was an accident. The police being there caused it to happen. People who have brought into this world a new generation of hate since the signing of the Good Friday Agreement, who have nurtured this generation and who have taught them that only their point of view matters are the architects of 'No-Go areas'. Could this happen in Glasgow? Under the SNP/SF/IRA auspices it could. If you are in any doubt of that try walking through the Calton with a Rangers scarf on. Or perhaps you could have another wee gang - 'Call It Out' - take up your case for you, after all they have met and discussed the situation with Humza Yousaf.

  17. I honestly think members from Glasgow would better serve their grievance by simply ignoring those whose questions are clearly presented with the sole intention of undermining the proposition and without a morsel of counter-argument. Pandering to nonsense like this by complying with it is an encouragement that serves no one except the enemies of impartiality. Meanwhile, here something to cheer you up...

  18. Okay Bearger, I'll bite and provide a 'wee list'. During 1990, the then Glasgow District Council was reported to the local government Ombudsman. It was pointed out for the previous calendar year, it was council policy to advertise vacancies, then invite correspondence/telephone calls for application forms. The council met such requests by issuing green application forms to those they intended to interview, and orange application forms to those that did not want to interview. The then speculation was the HR department choose what colour of form based on the given name and address. The Ombudsman found against the council, they were severely reprimanded after assurances were received they had changed their policy. I hope this helps, the Herald reported it extensively at the time.t

  20. I see this time and time again, people with an agenda saying they need lists of evidence before they can deign to grant their agreement ... when in reality their approval or otherwise is about as worthless as their own condescension. I can understand if people who live in and have first hand experience of a sectarian council want to disagree and put up some sort of reason for doing so. What I can't accept are people who don't even live in the same country, let alone Glasgow, calling out Glaswegians for having an opinion, without even the courtesy of an explanation. I don't live in Glasgow, I'll listen to people who do.

  27. What any of us post here isn't relevant to the issue. What any of the groups involved in the Israel situation have to say is what's relevant and I know of only one side who have discussed genociding anyone. There has always been a conflicting narrative of the activities of Hitler and the nazis within the Muslim world with many of the same people on the one hand praising the holocaust and expressing a desire to complete it while on the other denying it even happened. In the Muslim world in general there has always been widespread chatter condoning genocide of not just Israelis but Jews anywhere they may be found and that idea is referenced in the Hamas charter. That's an open call for genocide and take note that Israel isn't even mentioned, just Jews.

Hope that helps disperse those troublesome darkly clouds. ?️☔ I am however happy to repeat what I did say so long ago that only the sad, bitter and obsessed would still rattle on about it ... that there can be few peoples the world would miss less than the Palestinians if they all disappeared tomorrow. This situation could of course be changed rapidly if the Palestinians stopped overdosing on victimhood and self-harm, and engaged with the rest of the world in a more constructive and practical manner, even if that meant Palestinian elites having to give up some of their film star lifestyles.
