  1. Following Bill Leckie's outrageous and xenophobic attack on Alfredo Morelos article in today's Sun newspaper, we have decided enough is enough. It is proposed that all references to the Sun and any of its articles are now banned on Gersnet. We will not give oxygen to this Rangers hating, racist rag, and I'd call on all Gersnet members to support this. We would add our support to the voices calling for the club to ban the paper and its journalists from Ibrox and for the few remaining Rangers supporters who buy it or read it to boycott it with immediate effect. Some more detail on this issue for posterity here: https://gersnet.co.uk/index.php/news-category/current-affairs/1123-dinosaur-journalist-left-in-the-past-as-gersnet-bans-tabloid-content

  2. We would be mad to sell anyone like Barisic or Kamara just now when they have a Euros coming up in the summer. There is potential there based on performances to add value to their asking prices.

  3. That rag should have been consigned to the past by all football fans in April 1989.

  4. Read it, absolutely reprehensible. The attacks from the media on this man are unprecedented. Guys who have intentionally injured their fellow professionals repeatedly have never had anything like this from the media.

  5. People who care about Rangers shouldn't be buying the Sun or the Record or viewing their online content.

  6. Well, it's been a while, a few things have happened to our great club since I disappeared, but I'm back. Hello to all who remember me and hello to all those who don't ? Bad news, I'll try and be active on here again (I can hear the groans). Cammy F

  7. The daily record ran a racist column as well.

  8. I think that Barisic is one of our top 3 key players, along with, for me anyway, Morelos and Jack. He offers balance on that left hand side that Flanagan can't. And Halliday, whilst he will never let you down, just doesn't offer as much in an attacking sense. Barisic scares opponents and makes them have to think defensively rather than offensively. It also, as Frankie says, gives an unpredictability to our attack - when Barisic wasn't playing, or was off-form, opponents let us play down the left side and just shut up shop on the right, because the left offered little threat..... but with Barisic there we have threats down both flanks - and given we play a narrow 4-3-3 it is very important for the full backs to be offering attacking threat. I don't know who we would get in to replace Barisic if he left that would offer as much as him - I have to admit that, despite being older than Tierney, I would be disappointed if we let Barisic leave for less than they got for Tierney because, as far as I'm concerned, Barisic is a better player, both defensively AND offensively. I wouldn't let him leave, for any price, in January because I think he is THAT important to our title aspirations. We would still get excellent money for him in the summer - at least two more EL games and likely to be first choice LB for a Croatian team that are always easy on the eye could very well see his value increase further during the summer.

  9. I would like our players to pull out of all Scotland games until the league is won

  10. I think Barasic, and most Croatian players, would choose Italy over Scotland. Culturally Italy and Croatia are fairly close, it will feel a lot more like 'home' to him. I suspect the type of football played there would appeal to him too. That said, if we keep him until the summer and if we won the league the chance of Champion's League football might persuade a few to stay, Barasic included. I'd certainly be disappointed if we sold him in this window.

  11. Seems he's not the only one who thinks that. Though this other person appears to have been somewhat erratic in his opinions.

  13. He’s confessed - if that’s an ok word here - to being a gooner.

  19. I would prefer it if we didn't do any business with Dundee United. In Morelos, Defoe and Stewart, we have three strikers and that's enough for our current playing formation.

  20. I don't see us losing any player in January, well the players who are in around the 1st team pushing for a start

  21. Have you honestly seen that much of Shankland, and saw that much of Clark when he was banging them in at QotS in order to make that judgement ? It is just as plausible that Shankland has found his level in the Championship and would be a flop in the top league. And Defoe may get nothing more out of him than we already see. At 2 million (assuming that number is accurate) I am not convinced.

  22. I suppose all signings are risks and don't come with guarantees. I suppose it's all about taking a punt. Look at Robertson for example. He went from playing 30 odd games for Dundee Utd to the Premiership and went on to become a certain starter at Liverpool in 4 years. If we look closer to home, no one would have predicted Glenn Kamara to come in and do this well. Let's not forget he was warming the bench at a poor Dundee team

  23. The way we didn't regret signing Nicky Clark who had been banging goals in for QotS in the lower leagues ? Point being.... there are no guarantees and some of the numbers I have seen thrown around for Shankland (someone suggested as much as 2 million) I would be saying thanks but no thanks. At that price anyway.

  25. Strange how transfer gossip should focus on Barisic or Kamara. Both very good players but neither have come close to the contribution of Jack over the first half of the season. If we lost Jack it would, in my opinion anyway, leave a far bigger hole in the team’s prospects.

  26. I doubt anyone will be leaving unless: a) It really is silly money and, b) we have a proven replacement ready to step right in (i.e. not a project player or someone returning from injury). Someone like Barisic has been superb this season and his performances means our system is much better balanced and makes us less predictable in an attacking sense. On the other hand, he's just turned 27 and now in his prime meaning if we sell him now, he'll effectively be at the top of his value (Euro 2020 notwithstanding). As such, whilst we may turn down bids in the region of £10m for example, if we're talking £15m+ then, if we can source an alternative player, then he could be sold. Same can arguably be said for someone like Kamara who, IMO, isn't irreplaceable. Morelos is an entirely different kettle of fish altogether and it's just too risky to sell him given what he offers to the team.

  27. We've an extra game to play over Celtic, so I don't see how creating further fixture congestion helps us.

  28. Yep you can sense the fear of 55. They just can't deal with the prospect of it happening so soon after we were repeatedly told by pundit after pundit (usually ex-Celtic types) that it was years and 100's of millions away. To hell with the media. All that matters is we do our talking on the pitch and keep up the momentum until the end of the season.

  29. Could this be a result of the improvement on the left giving Tav and others on the right more leeway?
