Strategy trumps tactics. There are a number of 'ifs' for Rangers supporters concerning BBC Scotland. If we win the league, if we qualify for the Champions League stages, if we draw attractive clubs ie Real Madrid, Bayern, Juve, etc in our group, ........... etc? The scale of the situation inevitably draws requests for information, there's a story to be told. It's imperative that Rangers control that narrative. PQ's current stance cannot stand when BBC heavyweights are demanding access and the 'live' coverage of Rangers - Real Madrid, is in reality Richard Gordon, Liam McLeod, and Billy Dodds sitting in a studio half a mile from the Stadium. In the short term, yesterday's events at Lennoxtown is the start of an answer to another 'if'. Lennon has stated Sky Sports will get nothing from him and his players until Andy Walker apologises. Lawwell has been here before, he has banned Hugh Keevins for two years, Radio Clyde's Peter Martin for a year, and the Record's Klaxon Jackson for two years. The solidarity of then NUJ was tested and found wanting, BBC Scotland offered NO support to fellow union paying journos. It's time for the newly appointed Steve Carson to intervene and utilise the compromise solution BBC/Man United arrived at back in Sir Alex's day, or the BBC Scotland solution arrived at when Jum Spence was banned from Dens Park. There's another 'if' that Rangers must begin to work. Political involvement is key, a raft of cross party Rangers supporters must be created. Murray deliberately ignored such a option. The current Board must nurture this option. Once questions are being asked in and out of Parliament about Rangers supporters paying their license fees and NOT receiving a full service, then Carson will have to listen. Being overwhelmed by the strategy will leave him no option. Finally, there remains a big player at PQ with considerable experience in multi-media platforms, both in Management, Administration, and Broadcasting. He is very much the glue that adheres many of the usual suspects to the prevailing couple of decades old narrative. He is in his seventieth year and announced a few months back that he is hoping for another five years. He is the hater but has the foresight to know careful hate allows survival. He was prominent in the Rangers Tax Case Blog, and he knows the value of on message political support. He stays off social media because he knows it has more disadvantages than advantages for a purveyor of careful hate. I could go on, but if Rangers can convince Carson to bin Stuart Cosgrove, then the pensioners, the long term ill, the isolated, ........... etc Rangers supporters will begin to receive the full service they pay for. Cosgrove regularly states he doesn't get Rangers supporters, that we stand on the sidelines raging and beeling. Cosgrove has put us there, he intends to keep us there.5 points

I was going to point out that the initial part of the article refers to BBC rather than BBC Scotland, but thinking about it further the BBC as a whole are complicit and London have backed the approach of their biased counterparts in Scotland and refused to investigate it, despite numerous complaints to them, including one from@ian1964.4 points

From a practical rather than a moralistic standpoint, there's really nothing Rangers can or should do unilaterally. At least nothing that wouldn't risk making the situation even worse than it is today. If some fans are missing out then they need to take it up with the BBC, not Rangers.3 points

I think I posted all the correspondence on here? the whole complaints system is designed to piss you off so you just drop it, you get nowhere with them. It is a different story for the likes of Rangers FC I would imagine? I'm certain they can get a more direct line to the BBC and have if I'm correct? and it's still Status Quo. I don't think we need BBC Scotland tbh and I would hope they never set foot inside Ibrox ever again, however it is still wrong that a lot of Rangers fans, and opposing fans whose team are playing at Ibrox, are paying for a service yet not receiving it!.2 points

Their game was due to be against St Mirren who will be playing in the next round of the League Cup....2 points

I think Cedric Itten's time is fast approaching. For the first time I'd say he looks genuinely ready. Far more important right now is to get Ryan Jack back in the midfield before it completely runs out of steam. I just wish Scott Arfield was closer to a return too. I'd like to see this option tried..... Itten - Roofe - Hagi Davis - Jack - Kamara Barisic - Helander - Goldson - Tavernier McGregor2 points

The article is spot on. The solution, from a supporter's point of view, is simple - don't fund the bastards.2 points

A chilling read. If there's a more penetrating writer out there on key Rangers issues I've yet to come across him or her. I've shared this to several thousand followers across social media - and urge everyone who sees merit in these words to do the same - it's the only way to fight back.2 points

Dont say that - they will be after Stevie G. Its a good point though - when things dont go his way he does throw the toys out but when winning he is all crocodile smiles. Id have loved to have seen Sir Alex up against him. Something doesnt seem right - ever since Van Dijk went out the team. Salah and Mane seem a shadow of the players they were. They obviously want to go to La Liga.2 points

Am I right in thinking they dont play this weekend? Seems absolute madness but I am a bit like @craig I dont trust them one bit and seems more to this than meets the eye2 points

One way to avoid it get a family member with a licence to buy your television then you get them to deliver it to your house one licence is all that's needed for multiple sets but beware what your doing is against the law but there's about as much chance of being caught as wining the Euro millions1 point

BSRT has summed it up but here's the criteria in more detail: A TV Licence is a legal permission to install or use television receiving equipment to watch or record television programmes as they are being shown on TV or live on an online TV service, and to download or watch BBC programmes on demand, including catch up TV, on BBC iPlayer. This could be on any device, including TVs, desktop computers, laptops, mobile phones, tablets, games consoles, digital boxes, DVD, Blu-ray and VHS recorders.1 point

You can't watch any live TV You can't watch any BBC catch up shows1 point

Agree with gonzo. Just cancelled my licence last year and got an official letter stating that no licence is needed. The last BBC produced show I watched was available on Netflix so why am I paying nearly 150 bucks a year for the bloody privilage?1 point

My old man and Grandfather attended the 1967 ECWC Final in Nuremberg. There had been a screaming match on my part, a nine year old Primary schoolboy who had attended Ibrox for the defeats of Glentoran, Borussia Dortmund, Real Zaragoza, and Slavia Sofia. My old man said my Mother had put her foot down reference attending, three days off school was unacceptable. Anyways, Father told a convincing Roger the Dodger story. The week before the final, Rangers third team played in the Combination League and were due to play Glasgow Corporation Transport at Helenvale Park in the east end. The collection of bus drivers, conductors, mechanics, .... etc faced a team of youths and first team and reserves returning from injury. Apparently, the Rangers manager trapped with Roger and wanted to see him play centre forward. Roger scored five in an 3-8 victory. Of course, the reckless transfers of Jim Forrest and Alex Willoughby in January after the Berwick debacle, left Rangers short in the striker department. In April, Scot Symon had found a solution at Helenvale. I remember watching the game at home in blurry black and white. I seem to remember the Kaiser marshalled Roger quite comfortably, but in extra time two chances fell to the big Ayrshire man, both skyed over the bar. Our failure in Nuremberg was laid at Helenvale.1 point

Just caught up tonight with the latest in the excellent “away days” series on Rangers tv from the Dolly match last weekend. It really is so insightful and brilliantly edited. I think the decision to just use whatever noise the mics pick up is what makes this so special, and this season particularly with no crowds we get to hear so much more of what is said on the pitch during the games. What impressed me the most about this episode was the sound and pictures from the full time whistle. There was no celebrations, not even a yeesss or anything. The players were not happy at just winning the game, they knew we were poor for the last half hour or so and were not happy about it. One picture showed Barasic discussing a particular passage of play with another defender and the body language was as if we had lost, never mind just grubbed Dolly for the 3rd time this season and twice this season at the hill of dung. It shows the level our club has got to now, and the team of winners we are building. Not even happy with a 2-1 win at Pittodrie to cement our lead at the top, they strive for perfection and unless they achieve it, there is little room for satisfaction. Absolutely tremendous stuff ???1 point

BBC Scotland were out in full lennon defence mode this morning on their morning call in. Lenny was the victim according to Celtic fans who were the main ones allowed to phone in (read their forum and the view is the opposite) and the real discussion was that sport should be stopped. It was a shocker.1 point

That press conference yesterday was a clear signal that preparations for the formal departure of Neil Lennon can at last begin in earnest. I think we can therefore expect this coming weekend to see sports coverage in Scotland devoted almost entirely to eulogising the increasingly demented Neilly, with the loyal spouters at Pacific Quay naturally assuming the role of principal mourners. I expect Pater Lawwell will be cast as the man who brought Scottish football into the 21st century, rooting out much-discussed financial corruption in the process, but whose utility after years of exhausting achievement now has to be questioned. Ever the victim of uncontrollable circumstance, managing Neilly's demise will require a significant sacrifice and Lawwell will be the chosen offering. Peter's understandable burn-out will have led poor Neilly into an impossible corner from which there was no possible escape. Poor Neilly, with everyone conspiring against him, this may be a long process.. Keep your sick bags within reach.1 point

celtc have a rearranged game to play v kilie i think. Neither have a game this weekend.1 point

Which they've known about for several weeks now. I get that there may be complications in that they may need to move a few fixtures around to make it work, but there is no impact on supporters regarding travel so really they have no excuses for wasting this weekend in my view.1 point

That's my thinking, there's plenty of kindred spirits in London for them. They may not be fully aware what they're signing up for but are happy with what they've been told. My mind goes back to CW2014 where many were wined and dined a la celtic. These impressions matter and last.1 point

I need to have a listen to the full press conference, the wee extracts I've seen are gold! Love the line about his rage at Sturgeon using the term R and R, when she was quoting him directly! Thicker than a whale omelette.1 point

I don't think it needs to be concocted. I think I genuinely exists and it's another failing of Celtic, allowing a clearly mentally unstable employee to appear in front of cameras. It's shameful.1 point

We need the objectivity and clarity uniquely provided by the Rangers Tax Case Blog. After nearly two years and over a million impressions, the RTC Blog disappeared overnight. I was thinking they could shine a bright light into the dark corner that is Frank Mullholland, now Lord Mullholland. Three years past, Stuart Cosgrove said, "Rangers supporters should forget about the Rangers Tax Case Blog". I think folks would be most interested in how much the RTC Blog has cost - is costing the country?1 point

He looks such a talent, a long run of games would get him banging the goals in I reckon. Also meant to say how unlucky Defoe was, that touch and strike was pure quality and shows what a striker he has been all his career.1 point
