Fantastic. A fit Scotty Arfield is like a new signing IMO.4 points

It had been coming and today was the day. Irrespective of the red card the result could have been the same as we were so dominant.3 points

Defensive blunder apart, best 45mins of the season. Creating chances, great delivery into the box and module/inter-changing front two. Could have been 3 or 4.3 points

Has the Japanese lad recovered from his concussion? He wasn't allowed to take the penalty, so clearly the severe and cowardly blow left him befuddled; so confused was he that he fell to the ground clutching his face, although the Livingston player's skelp was to the back of the head. Yet such cynicism is displayed on these pages that one might conclude that the stricken Kyogo was just another cheating bastard like Nakamura. I don't think that he was substituted, after the assault which must, surely, result in all round condemnation of the club's lack of regard for player welfare. The Hart 'incident' was a penalty for Livingston, but, bizzarely, imexplicably, one not awarded. Are the Masons going soft?3 points

A much needed confidence boost for the team. It shows that when we carry out the game plan, play with intensity and togetherness the quality will shine through. I hope this is the real start to our season.2 points

Yes, a statement performance at last.2 points

Agree with Durant, Tav would be getting MOTM unless Fashion gets a hattrick , that's the Rangers we all know!2 points

I say, jolly well played you fellows.2 points

Morelos coming off, for Roofe. No goals for Alfie, but I think he's had a fine game.2 points

They must keep the collective foot on the gas, second half, and none of the poncey resting on laurels they are wont to indulge in.2 points

Every time M'well crosses the halfway line, I get the fear. Three pairs of breeks in the wash already, and I have had to resort to the kilt and the commode.2 points

Goalkeeper had to do better. Should be able to block from such a tight angle. all started from another defensive mistake conceding a needless corner2 points

Sakala has to start bringing something to the table apart from having a bit of pace. Roofe is our best striker IMO (stats back this up) and it should be him and one other. Hate to sound defeatist but I fear a frustrating afternoon with that line up.2 points

Apologies. It was not meant to be a like for like comparison. More a comment on how as fans we are quick to attach opinions on players too quickly (good or bad). I'm as guilty as anyone tbh. My memory was that many fans wanted a permanent deal for Cullibaly based on about 2/3 games. He did look good in spells but judgements should be made over a prolonged spell. I genuinely hope Sakala turns out to be diamond and progresses in his more favoured position.1 point

Jeez. That's a pretty strong critique. Hardly a like for like comparison for a start. Cullibally was a box to box MF not a wide front 3 player. Maybe you are confusing with Ojo? As for Sakala, what I see from his first sub appearance in pre season is a young man from an impoverished African background who is so grateful for the opportunity to better himself. He has already moved from Zambia to Russia then from Holland and to here. I don't know how many full games he has played for us (it can't be many) but is amazing to see the number of people on here prepared to write him off already based on so little evidence. That interview on Sky was a breath of fresh air. So humble, so grateful to the club and his teammates. He even admits he has not fully settled here yet. There have been many players who have crashed and burned here. So far, on the limited opportunities available to him, I think he has done himself no harm at all. Plus he cost diddely squat!1 point

If I had to pick one player who I would have loved to see score a hat-trick it is Sekala. Hope it really boosts his confidence and that it shows his detractors that things can sometimes be worth the wait.1 point

Great result. This could have been a difficult weekend for us but everything has gone our way.1 point

What a difference your team playing well does to your mood.1 point

I have to say, there is more to Sakala than I thought. Previously I was under the impression that he was fairly one dimensional, i.e. get the ball and run head down towards the goal. But he showed he has a trick or two, some decent wide play, can play in a ball. Good times ?1 point

Did we get a penalty? Apparently, we get a penalty in every game. We have played 12 Premiership games and been awarded 3 penalties. St Johnstone and Hearts have been awarded eight.1 point

Davis has brought composure but Arfield’s competitive bite has also been instrumental in achieving domination in midfield1 point
-
There's been a lot of good displays today, but Arfield is getting my MotM. He links midfield and attack, with his movement and simple passing, and he 'gets stuck in'! I've been quite critical of him. Just thought I'd mention it early.1 point

He has played well today. He has been a bit rubbish previously though.1 point

First Goldson didn't win the ball and it went for a corner, at the corner Goldson left Mugabi free at the back post to score, double mistake from him1 point

Captain leading the way on his birthday, that's why the manager doesn't want to drop him1 point

For all Arfield's shortcomings at least his first thought is to move the ball forward. We need that.1 point

The weird thing is, we're actually playing well.1 point

Wish McGregor would stop with the pointless punts. He had time to put his foot on the ball and find a player.1 point

I take it Aribo will be played further forward in that line up? Hagi and Roofe are the two forwards who can create something out of nothing - one of them should be in the starting 11.1 point

Roofe should be starting every game. He's our canniest striker IMO.1 point

Not looking forward to tomorrow's match, in all honesty. We're not good to watch at the moment, often starting poorly, only playing with intensity in short bursts, predictable going forward (or should that be sideways) and defensive lapses seem almost inevitable. Any win will do.1 point

BIG DICKER. Reference : Page 29 of this thread, third post entitled - 'Alchemy at Pacific Quay'. I would urge my fellow Gersnetters to read the reference before, during and, after this post. It's a plus ca change type of thing three and half years after the reference post. Wednesday night started in a deserved emotional tribute to Walter Smith. Rangers defence decided on some necessary light relief and embarked upon Keystone Cops defending. We gifted Aberdeen their first goal, then teased them by partly gifting their second. Alfie gave us hope and with nine minutes to go, the Referee awarded a penalty, Tav' converted to secure our third league draw at home this season. Big Time frustration all round. The Big Time frustration was also being played out a mile along the Govan Road at PQ. Big AmDram Quine, Big Dick Gordon was Hosting Sportsound, live commentary came from Easter Road, various reporters were in attendance at a further four Premiership grounds for 'Open All Mikes' exposure. The sixth Premiership ground, Ibrox was covered by Big Dick sitting in a Pacific Quay studio. Remember, there was no live TV coverage of any Scottish game on Wednesday evening. Big Dick is a Dandy Don. He has established his Dandy credentials, he utilised his biography on BBC Radio Scotland nearly 20 years past to right what his fellow Dandies thought was a heinous wrong. Richard Gordon donned the Rangers blazer and necktie to present three or four of the first nine-in-a-row videos. He took the decision, he took the dosh but, did not enjoy the level of opprobrium that accompanied. A minute into his biog' he stated, "I was raised to hate Rangers, absolutely". Regularly since, he has exploited most opportunities to reinforce his hatred. Recently, his best efforts have been begging Compliance Officer intervention reference both Ryan Jack and Alfredo Morelos. Big Dick could not accept John Beaton's decision, in the 45 minute period post match, continually he returned to the penalty award. He could not see why it was awarded. A soupcon of sympathy here, the PQ building is a mile away from the Stadium. On hearing Stephen Glass post match, Big Dick was all out in support, it was a case of 'Cheatin' Beaton'. He attempted to get Pat Bonner's support but one half of the Blarney Bhoys was sated seeing his beloved green'n'grey hooped heroes win at Easter Road. "For the life of me I cannot see why that penalty was awarded and I've watched the incident on a dozen of occasions", was Big Dick's last broadcast piece of BIG DICKERY. I sit on the halfway line in Club'72, I witnessed Tav' lob the ball into the Dons box, David Bates was the wrong side of Sakala and his left hand had a full grasp of the back of Fashion's back of shirt. Bates fell, dragging Sakala to the ground. No one in the Govan Stand with a similar view was not screaming penalty. Simply, I saw it and Richard Gordon did not. The angled TV clip fails to show Bates grabbing Sakala's shirt. All contributors to Sportscene agreed it was a penalty. The consequences of Big Dick's BIG DICKERY is the usual suspects piling on, Chris Sutton says, "it's the worst award I have ever seen". Tam McManus is speechless, I wish he was. The photos of Beaton in his Bellshill local have resurfaced, Big Dick knew what he was doing. We go to Fir Park on Sunday and Gordon's BBC Scotland colleague, Tam Cowan(Well season ticket holder) is on Peter McGuire's PLZ Soccer stating, "Beaton has opened a can of worms". Time we posted a few pictures of Big Dick replete in Rangers blazer and necktie, remind him we know he'll say what is required if you pay the dosh.
