  2. Sometimes you just lose. There are always things to point a finger at when Rangers lose a game but “we blew it” suggests a degree of either intent or avoidable negligence. I doubt anyone who took the field in blue last Wednesday was aware of doing anything to contribute to our defeat. Sure the performance was less than it could have been but imo it’s wrong to say we blew it.

  3. Like renting a ferrari for 6 months and leaving it on the driveway except when your 80 year old mum took it to the shops that one time. And it spending 4 months in the garage for repairs. Mark down as a lesson learned and good luck to the guy moving forward.

  4. Oh, come off it r_s. It's blindingly obvious to any of us who have been on this forum for any length of time that you've deliberately cultivated an online persona and a style of posting that's designed to get under other people's skin. If that's what you want to do fair enough, although I have no idea what it is that you get out of it. What you've got to understand though, is that for most of us this forum is a leisure activity that we have a limited amount of time to enjoy. On the Rangers Chat section particularly, we're here for some friendly banter with fellow fans. I'm sorry to say it, but interacting with you (or even observing you interacting with others) carries with it a severe fun deficit. There are very few times when I find reading your needling, nit-picking and haranguing posts a worthwhile use of time. I doubt I'm alone in feeling this way. As I said, if that's really how you wish to post, fair enough, but don't be surprised if you end up on a few ignore lists.

  5. Small discussion with my kid yesterday : Craig : The team did us proud mate, lots to be positive about Kid : I reckon we can reach another European final in the next couple of years Craig : I hope it isnt for a while as I can't afford us to be in the final too often Kid : It could be our annual holiday Rangers, what have you created.... from the depths of wondering when we would ever win anything again.... to the heights of winning the league, winning the Scottish Cup, being in a European final.... all within 10 years. And that is why we are Rangers - because our standards are greater than our rivals. We don't celebrate failure. As Fernando Ricksen famously once said, "First is everything, Second is nothing". We are proud of this squad for what they achieved, but we won't celebrate that failure to win, we use it as motivation to go one further.

  6. Could have been a big player this season. Instead we opted for Ramsey, a decision I will rue till the day I die.

  7. I suppose I could cavil with splitting an infinitive and using a noun as a verb, notwithstanding its Latin origin but this a forum for football fans so I suppress my inner pedant. That pedant forbids the use of symbol to qualify a remark so for the avoidance of doubt, the foregoing should be read as a lighthearted response and not didactic. You know what? The inner pedant can take a running jump. One of the wee picture thingies would have saved about fifty words.

  11. You could be right mate - my memory isnt what it used to be either. Surely they will give Gio money now. However.... we also need to remember that giving him money doesnt necessarily mean transfer fees - Bassey deserves a better deal, Aribo and Kent only have a year left so should get better deals - these all cost money too. The majority of this squad should be retained IMHO - still the best team AND squad in the country - keep the nucleus together, strengthen the weakest parts (CB, RW, ST) and we could go far in Europe again.

  12. Not quite the same level.... but this is exactly what Jamie Barjonas did when he went to Kelty. Rangers were releasing him, he is far too good for the 4th tier of Scottish football - but he knew that KT played the game the right way, wanted Barjo to be pivotal in that, could prove himself in the 4th, then 3rd tier - and work his way to a bigger move. In Gilmour's case he would be coming to European finalists and with a point to prove - and will know that if he does that on the European stage then he will have eyes on him again.

  13. It isnt that it was an unreasonable question - but you asked it multiple times - you made your point, continued to ask when you could have just left it. If you found it uninteresting, that is fine. Just move on. Why continue to go over old ground asking, effectively, the same question. What was intended to be a fairly positive thread about Bassey's performance in the Cup final, using a known Rangers hater's piece as a positive starting point, it has disintegrated into a pissing contest, again. The thread has been derailed when it didnt need to be. And with that, I am out too - because I am now contributing to the exact same thing I am criticising.

  16. "Calvin Bassey is juicing". Above is the latest from our separated brethren, harvested from the Twitter feeds of the usual suspects. Apparently, "Bassey is at least double the size since the H-u-ns signed him". Oh and, Sellik's medical team have noted this, Lab' reports are imminent. Steroid Loyal RSC.

  18. Absolutely spot on compo. First 3 pages of this thread is nothing more than a pissing contest (EDIT : First 5 pages 🙄). Just because one person finds an article interesting, especially coming from a Pacific Quay CSC reporter I don't see the need for others to merely pile on with obtuse remarks. Are we really that childish on Gersnet ?

  19. What is going on? Twenty seven years past, I remember Chick Young live on BBC Radio Scotland telling us he was outside Ibrox and, Eoin Jess was inside having his medical. I see no mention of Jess on the above lists, how long does it take the club to get signings over the line?

  21. The boy absolutely gets it. He just does. Genuinely think that he greatly appreciates us picking him up from relative obscurity at Leicester and wants to repay that faith shown in him. Oozes class, on AND off the pitch. Can't believe he had a half dozen clubs reject him for their academies just 6 or 7 years ago.

  22. The three of us took pictures pre-game.... as soon as we got to the match all 3 of us put our phones in a bag and they never re-appeared till we were at the hotel post game. I will never understand those that want to take pictures during the game. None of the 3 of us even moved from our seats for the whole game - 6 hours plus without water - but no chance was I moving during the game in case I missed anything - same with having a phone out. A Frankfurt fan in front of us would be lucky if she saw 20 minutes of the game as she spent the whole evening taking selfies with the pitch behind her. Ridiculous stuff.

  26. Even if they aren't guaranteed a game? He's spent most of this season on the bench for one of the worst EPL teams in history. Can't see him walking into any EPL team at the moment. 1 year playing European football, challenging for league and cups will may see him get a better choice of clubs.

  27. I think its a case of we had little or no other options but had a chance to roll the dice with a guy who could have made a real difference. Meanwhile Skov Olsen ripped it up for Brugge and could be leading them to a League title. 6 Million for that boy is going to seem a bargain in a couple of years. Still wish we could have had him for our right side of attack. it is what it is.

  28. Oh come on mate. You know that what was going on was nothing more than a pissing contest in the first 5 pages of this thread. I would suggest to go back and read the thread and then convince me that any of it was worthwhile to the thread at all - it was just an irrelevant pile on - was it because it was Tom English ? BBC ? I don't know but I would challenge anyone that posted to Cammy in that first 5 pages to convince it wasnt a pile on. If you didnt find it interesting why not just skip it and ignore it, instead of spending the next 4 pages asking him what he found interesting about it - why does he have to prove that interest to you ? He found it interesting, you didnt. But instead of just leaving it at a disagreeing impasse you continued for the next 4 pages asking what he found interesting. You are better than this. Gersnet is better than this.

  29. They shouldn't have to with the Gerrard money, Patterson money, EL run money - plus if we sell one player from the squad for decent money. And the club must have made a FORTUNE off those new orange 3rd tops - saw them everywhere in Seville. The merch revenue from Seville must be significant.

  30. Nah, the real shame is that someone posts a positive article about a Rangers player from a known Rangers-hating outlet and instead of discussing it, they round on the person posting it. Rather disappointing - I honestly thought Gersnet was far better than this.

  34. His Norwich move was a travesty for the lad. He is a footballer who likes to get on the ball - at Norwich all he was ever doing was chasing the ball. Give him the ball and he can do things. Make him chase the ball and he is completely ineffective. The approach that Rangers and Norwich have to the game is completely different. He would see TONS of the ball for us, which would let him showcase his talents.

  36. It will NEVER be "meh" for me. Regardless of who it was. Devastated. But had Goldson defended as he should have then Ramsey wouldnt have been relied upon to hit a penalty. All of that said, I am immensely proud of that squad of players - they left absolutely everything out on that pitch, every last one of them. Now.... build the team around Bassey, Lundstram and Lowry and we should be good.

  40. But not exclusively so. Is a newspaper article interesting if it expresses facts already known to the reader but causes him to reflect upon them, or indeed upon the author, in a way which previously the reader had not? The English article interested me because there was nothing adverse in it. Hard to find something adverse to say about Bassey currently but there’s always a barrel’s bottom to be scraped. How about Leicester City discard?

  41. I think we really need to examine this season and how player availability has cost us. I don't have anything against the quality of these players, in fact its the opposite i think they are fantastic footballers. But the lack of availability for the likes of Balogun, Helander, Jack, Roofe and Ramsey frustrates me greatly. It seems to be whenever we have a key player injured or unavailable these guys seem to have a recurring injury. In the case of Balogun and Jack they struggle to play more than a game a week. Same concerns over Soutter but he clearly has ability. Maybe time to let the likes of McGregor and Davis go. Same with Balogun. Also need to move on Aribo, Helander, Kent and Morelos. I would offer everyone bar Helander a new deal and if they don't sign we need to sell. Don't think we can afford to take the hit on them. Kent especially as we paid 7 million for him.

  45. Roofe, Helander and Itten will most likely be here next season. Gio actually said that he would not have sent Itten away. That said, both strikers will speak with Gio about his future plans, as this one-striker stuff saw them frozen out of teams while we toiled along against the brickwall-gang. These last two finals, being played with essentially no-strikers for long spells, won`t enhance Gio`s position in that case.

  47. Apologies... I'd only be suggesting that if we had a loan with an option to buy. I couldn't see it happening otherwise - he's also entering the last year of his contract so maybe that would be a more realistic option at the moment, I don't know.

  48. Huge gamble selling Alfie with no proven replacement - Sakala isn't a replacement, Roofe is a great player but injury prone and Itten isn't good enough.
