  1. And at a good age, with possible re-sale value. His injury history was, IMHO, a risk worth taking. I still felt that Souttar was brought in predominantly because the club thought Goldson wouldnt sign a new deal.

  2. Instead of “The ‘Zero % Mission” I would rather Rangers just stopped promoting gambling altogether. No amount of sponsorship money justifies our club contributing to the human exploitation that flows from this miserable activity.

  3. The opportunity is there for the manager to make significant improvements but this seems to go deeper than just selections and tactics.

  4. I refuse to believe Tav is fit. He's not doing anything well defensively or going forward. To be fair, the whole team looks like its struggling fitness-wise. A focused Morelos would be good, but who knows which version of Morelos we're going to get anymore. I say "anymore", but we have this conversation every six months or so don't we?

  5. Yeah it does make me think how much the two heavy defeats to Celtic and the meek performance at Ibrox v them have put him in a position where he has perhaps been harshly judged. The football isn't great at times but I've seen the same thing under McLeish and Smith especially which resulted in silverware. I also don't think he has been backed in the transfer market like he could have been with funds being directed elsewhere. Then there is injuries which seem to be as bad as I can remember for a long time. I'll admit I was deflated after we beat PSV and never brought in a player or two before the window closed. Its possible the manager and players felt the same and that's had an impact. I'm not ready for the scorched earth approach of getting rid of him right now and getting someone else in. I will be honest and admit I'm not confident we will win the league as things stand now. Even if we win on Saturday and they lose with us going top. If we get reinforcements in the door in January and players back fit that can change. I think he deserves the chance.

  6. Looking forward to tonight's game with the opportunity to change things around somewhat for the manager - even if Dundee won't be here just to make up the numbers. I think the manager may use more of a 4-1-4-1 tonight and it will be interesting to see how bold he is with changes. I doubt he'll make as many changes in my graphic as Dundee are a step up from QotS in the last round. It may be the likes of McLaughlin, Tav, Steven Davis and Wright are preferred to retain a wee bit more experience. Yilmaz and Morelos surely start and will be good to see Roofe from the bench.

  7. Th players may not want to “play for the manager” in which case, play for your wages and your own reputation. King and Lowry will probably go on to better places but the rest need to realise that for them, this is as good as it gets.

  8. I thought the presser by Leon King was impressive. He conducts himself with composure for an 18 year old and hints at having the character to build a real future at Rangers. I hope he makes it.

  9. Oh, that was Dundee? Thought it was Argentina 😀

  10. I keep reading allusions to Tav’s fitness. Have considered the possibility his only problem is inside his head. Regardless, I’d be appointing a new captain in the morning.

  11. Oh I agree, there is a real issue in that dressing room. I would much rather someone grew a pair and just spat it out, rather than continuing to mug the support of their hard earned cash. Might even be a boardroom issue, but I've completely stayed out of there since 2012. Took ages to get my blood pressure down after that debacle.

  12. We started reasonable and it went downhill ever after. As if we wanted to emulate the weekend's dross and get down to their level. And much of that is down to our regulars who hardly ever showed up, be it Lundstram or Tavernier, who looked quite disinterested. Play like that next week and we'll get horsed. Bright notes: Ridvan did well enough, but wasn't picked out often enough. Wright and Sakala did their winger's job, and Roofe showed more in his few mins than Alfredo in his 73.

  13. I have my first dental appointment in almost 3 years tomorrow. I fear the worst after as I have developed pain in my wisdom tooth. Saying that, I predict that it will be a more enjoyable experience than what I witnessed tonight.

  14. Great play by Wright forces a save from the Dundee keeper who can only parry it for Davis to head in. Great play Wright.

  15. Ryan Jack talks on new deal. Is that a wind up? If he were to stay fit and play well for the rest of the season, then there may be a conversation to be had, but now, just NO.

  18. Bud had one thing in abundance .... commitment. I don't think I ever saw him give less than his all. Christ I wish you could bottle that and feed it to our current squad.

  19. We have previous for it. Morelos eventually broke and was out for months.

  20. Nah, Gio will play ultra defensively in Naples to keep the score down to a respectable 5-0.

  21. Best we can hope for is that Morelos doesn't sign a new contract and he leaves in the summer, Kent likewise - we won't sell any players in this form. At least we'll free up some big wages.

  22. A goal from the old fox Davis is what separates the wheat from the chav. The spine of this team is finished. Far too many people ( to alter a Gerrard quote ) are going through games doing crazy little jogs. Zero passion or drive in our play, no rhythm or shape. Total second gear pish week in week out. As much of a fan of Tav as I am, he needs made an example of.

  24. It's a no brainer. He's back playing useful minutes and is clearly as good a midfielder as any at Ibrox, better when he's fully up to speed.

  25. We never learn when it comes to signing crocks. And I don’t think Souttar(if fit)would ever have been a suitable replacement for Goldson

  26. Unfortunately, not the way some of today's footballers think.

  27. I agree, but we seem to have taken that stance with half of our squad and its had a big impact.

  31. We had our awful games under SG as well, but we did tend to learn and take on board lessons. Also fair to say that SG never had to play against elite clubs in the CL like Liverpool and this Napoli team. However, what is damming is the failure to take on board lessons from the Parkhead debacle of a first half in Feburary and apply them in September. Not only not take on board, but actually get worse. Then Gio says he told them prior to the game. The players not applying thse instructions says a lot. Next reference for taking on board lessons will be Napoli (away).

  32. Over time the details go a bit hazy but that article is a chilling reminder of the suffering inflicted on ordinary people by the RA and it makes it all the more sickening that they are being celebrated in our country today.

  33. If he is the real deal, he won't be with us for long enough to do much with us. Barring injury, I'm fairly sure he'll have a stellar career in the game.

  34. It took me years to realise (OK, I had to be told) that these fellows were making some kind of statement with their shaven nappers. I had thought that they all had chronic head lice. No smoke without fire, sez I. In days of old, medics used to closely crop and paint affected heads with a solution of potassium permanganate, a purple coloured wash. This, of course, is the origin of the expression "dickhead".

  35. Listen guys if you had told me ten years ago that we would play in Eufa/CL and be lucky/unlucky enough to see teams like Liverpool/Borrusia etc. at Ibrox I would have been looking to consign you to the loony bin. It is hard what is happening but it is hopefully a learning issue going forward.

  36. An alternative view on how the season had panned out thus far. - We have qualified for the Champions League group stages for the first time since 2007. - We are 2 points of the top of the league after 10 games - won 8, lost 1 (a hammering) and 1 x draw which should have been a win but for some very questionable refereeing. - we've won 4 league games in a row for the first time in 2022. - We continue to suffer from horrendous injuries. Hagi, Helander, Roofe, Soutar, Goldson, Jack, Lowry, Lawrence (that's 8 potential starters) all still out and we've had Alfie returning from injury. Whilst I wouldn't be against Gio being replaced (but only with someone who would be seen as an "upgrade", the above are good / sound reasons for him NOT being removed from his position at this time. If we win all our domestic games between now and the WC break we'll be in a great position. If we don't, the calls for Gio to be replaced will intensify and may become too loud for the board to ignore......
