  1. BREAKING NEWS (SSN): Rangers agree fee with Norwich for midfielder Todd Cantwell.

  2. McLaughlin was bad last night wasn't he? Although he did have a couple of saves where I honestly wouldn't know if McGregor would have stopped them given his form this season. Its weird because he's usually commanding and good on crosses, but there's clearly big issues in our backline just now - no confidence; communication is poor & I'm sure changing the keeper doesn't help. Surely McCrorie deserves a start against St Johnstone?

  3. Cantwell and Raskin would add a lot of much needed creativity. This could be a very good window.

  4. Someone at the training centre apparently. Rumoured to be Cantwell.

  5. Nothing for 3 weeks then 2 in 24hrs. The redemption of Ross Wilson is almost complete. Add the lad from Swansea and Krstovic and we'll be carrying Wilson along PRW, feeding him grapes and wine whilst fans throw themselves at his feet. If we don't, he'll be burned at the stake after being hung, drawn and quartered

  6. I luv football fans - rewind 24hrs and it was a sh1t window, nobody had signed, board and Wilson were dragging their heels. 24hrs later ans we've still not signed anyone, but a few internet rumours and everyone is on cloud 9 😉

  7. Many of us wanted McLaughlin to be given a chance. I can't imagine many of us now think he's the answer to our goalkeeping needs. It looks increasingly like we'll have to go to the market for a new goalie.

  8. Cantwell is a very lucky man. How long it takes him to realise that will be revealing.

  9. Plus ca change(again). The first four and a half years of this thread was based on the lack of service Rangers supporters received from BBC Scotland. We all pay the License Fee and yet Rangers supporters receive a deliberate lesser service. These last six months, Rangers and the national broadcaster patched up a three decade long uneasy relationship. PQ were back into Ibrox and had the same access to the Rangers manager and players as the vast majority of the rest of broadcast and print media. Last night, Rangers visited Rugby Park for a live Sky match, kick-off 20.00hrs. The other planned three Premiership games were kicking off 15 minutes earlier. BBC Radio Scotland's flagship Sportsound came on air at 18.30hrs. Big Dick was hosting, Craig Levein and Rory Loy joined him in the PQ studio. We were told straight off that the Livi' - Dundee United game had been postponed due to a frozen pitch. Dundee United would be issuing a statement. Supporter concerns were covered, many had already left for the game, particularly those from Dundee. Next, Kheredine Idessane interviewed Ange live from Sellik Park. Pat Bonner was also at ra Stade de Gadd and he was asked for opinion on matters Sellik? Both ra Sellik and St Mirren teams were given and Pat gave Kheredine and Big Dick more opinion. Pat is unique, he only covers Sellik games. We know this because when Kheredine interviews St Mirren Gaffer, Pat has no opinion. The Tynecastle match between Hearts and Aberdeen is then up for chat, teams are read out and Big Dick and Wullie Miller at Tynie have a several minute speculation on line up and formation of the Dandies. Alan Preston joins Wullie, he has hot footed over from West Lothian when Livi' fell to the weather. Jim Goodwin and Robbie Neilson are interviewed by Jambo, Brian McLauchlin. Aberdeen look more solid with Graeme Shinnie back in the line up. At 19.15 hrs, "BIG Sellik man"(courtesy of Annie McGuire), Martin Dowden interviews Michael Beale, emphasis on change of Keeper again and, dropping to the bench of Tillman being replaced by Arfield. No team news. Big Dick(now the PRO of Cove Rangers) wants to talk VAR. A ten minute chat raises a few points : 1. Goldson's hand ball again. 2. Refs' must explain VAR decisions to fans - Pat cannot wait until a Ref' is explaining a decision to fellow Sellik supporters at Parkhead. 3. Big Dick wants to know why some instances are not referred to VAR - namely the Goldson hand ball and Ryan Kent's punching of Liam Scales? He goes on, Dons fans are particularly frustrated at this and three days later the Compliance Officer appears not to be taking an interest. Levein and Preston agree and add their surprise at no media campaign to draw the CO's attention. Stellar work from Cove Rangers PRO. We are back to Rugby Park at 19.40 hrs and, Martin Dowden interviews Derek McInnes. The Killie team is given and explained. On the hand back to Big Dick, the Cove PRO is flustered because he wants to hand over to fellow Dandy, Liam McLeod for build up comment from the evening's live commentary game at Sellik Park. As YNWA is played over the PA system, Big Dick asks Martin Dowden to give the Rangers team at 19.44hrs? If you want to hear anymore of the PQ improved service to Rangers supporters, tune in on Monday evening next. Cove Rangers PRO will be broadcasting live from Darvel, Ershur. He might even give you Saturday's Rangers line up, particularly if the Compliance Officer needs the information.

  10. Can’t well and Raskin would certainly improve the midfield scenario

  11. You are entitled to your opinion and you may well be right. Please understand that I already have eight top priorities after the match last night.

  12. If there’s a time of the year I want Kent to catch form it’s during the January transfer window. Don’t sign anything yet Ryan 😀

  13. Yeh, the Raskin rumour especially is a bit of a game changer. If we get that over the line in this window then Wilson’s approval ratings will take a jump.

  14. the idea that McLaughlan is better at crosses and with his feet must surely be dead now.

  15. Truth be told, our season and probably Gio's stay has been ravaged by injuries to 6 to 10 players who would have otherwise been starters. I doubt we are able or willing to add that many more people right now, given that we already have so many people on our books (whether insurance pays their bills or not). As per usual, they will all be fit on a certain date and people will ask why all that "dead wood" is being carried along, whether these are good enough etc.. Big problem remains: the likes of Hagi, Souttar, Helander, Ridvan, Lawrence, and now Colak and Roofe too, won't be thrown in without proper preparation. Which once again means that others have to bear the burden* and thus are likely to suffer in quality of play. Then again, given what we see week in week out - hardly inspiring, why don't we blood a few able youngsters? Patterson easily stepped into Tav's shoes when the latter got injured. While I had my reservations about Devine, he did rather well. Yesterday, we begged for some creativity and willingness to shoot, had Wright and Lowry on the bench, but again kept it at 2 subs. Have we come down to that dire scenario again, that points and wins at all costs must be achieved? That has worked oh so well ever since SG was hired. One goal advantage and we start to defend that against the dross out there? I can see why this is coming from DMs and CMs like SG and Gio, but this can hardly be our ambition. In the here and now, MB will have to work with what he's got. I do reckon that some players will draw bids from English teams come the end of the window. Given our exploits last season in Europe, I had assumed that Kamara, Kent and Tavernier would be high on someone's transfer list. Maybe there's a reason that no-one showed up. Then again, Southampton is rock bottom in the EPL and may dip into the Scottish market again ... 😱 *Somehow, back in the day, I remember players in the 80s and 90s hardly ever suffer so many injuries, unless someone like Simpson stepped in.

  16. Two goals and an assist means it has to be Alfie. Thought Sakala did fairly well again and Kent grew into the game with a fine finish also.

  17. Fair enough, it’s a question I posed, not a statement. However with our squad racked with injuries, 9 behind our rivals, a new manager who came in with a list of players he gave to Wilson/the board to try to get in, I am sure most of us were hoping that we done our work early and had the new players already settled in and playing by now, hence the question. Our rivals had 3 lined up and ready for the window opening to add to their already massive squad, indeed one played against us only 2 days into the window opening. To my mind that’s where we should have been, so I was asking what the general feeling was for why everything seems to taking sooooo long?

  18. It would be incredible business to get both Raskin & Cantwell.

  19. Very good in defensive duels, but silky on the ball. Can carry the ball and very good at forward passing. Weaknesses are he is hopeless in the air and doesn’t score many.

  20. The improved performances of so many players since Beale replaced van Bronckhorst speaks volumes for just how low morale in the dressing room had sunk under the previous manager. Jack, Kamara, Kent, Sakala and Morelos seem renewed. Sadly, if we're to see similar improvement in defence then it looks like it will only be achieved with replacements.

  22. Well, Cove are known to occasionally train on the beach. Big Dick will note Weston's lack of application, running around kicking down bairns sand castles as opposed to concentrating on the fitbaw.

  23. Agreed. We look narrow but we counter that by having Tav and Borna playing very high, which means the full backs give us the width. This also can cause us problems at the back with little cover down the flanks, which is where Jack and Lundstram come in. Lundstram would slide back to give us 3 CB's to provide some cover defensively, Jack often slides over to the full back slot being attacked when our play breaks down. Last night was case in point.... Armstrong was playing very well and giving Borna a tough time.... yet Borna was STILL breaking forward to offer width when attacking. I would be looking at trying to sign Armstrong in fact - there is most definitely a player in there.

  24. I was only half joking when I said I wanted an entire new backline. Before the second Killie goal, they played a high ball up to their striker who was on the edge of our box. We had 6 or 7 players back, in a perfect line and the Killie striker won the header. I think there was another ball in to the box we failed to clear and then they scored from the continuation of that move. It's been like this for so long now that I really wonder what the coaching teams look at week to week. Between that and our failure to cover for our full backs when they're attacking, or our full backs being caught out by balls inside them or over the top, its exhausting to watch.

  25. It was difficult to vote for anyone other than Goldson - but I did. I went for Ryan Kent.

  26. Aye, fairly similar to my thoughts wbd, slowly but surely things are starting to work. We need a keeper badly though, Mcgregor just looks old, still has the ability to have a couple of top class saves in a game, but anything outside of where he wants to be in his area and its statue time. Mclaughlin just looks like his nerves have gone, and not many keepers ever come back from that. I've no idea what he was doing at the opener. Siegreist or zander clark would have walked into our team, and we could have signed either for the price of a wage.

  27. Incidentally...WTF was McGlaughlin doing at the end of the game? He was miles out of his goal for one passage of play and then literally passed the ball to a Killie player on the full time whistle.

  28. Napoli are an excellent team this season. Ajax away and Liverpool at home were the two real disappointments. Gio should've been sacked sooner. That's why the league is already gone. Put the fat convict under pressure and watch him sweat.

  29. After the match tonight I only want new fullbacks, a new midfield pairing, a new striker, a pair of wingers and a creative midfielder. Two centre backs and a goalkeeper are 'nice to have' but we should get them if there is any money left.

  30. While I’m not at all familiar with dB’s family, I suggest a Kilmarnock last gasp equaliser was much more likely than any unique organ misalignment.

  31. But we haven't been playing with a front 3 under Beale for the most part, but even if we were, the team would suffer from losing the amount of work that Kent does if you moved a Roofe or Morelos out there. We'll suffer if Kent doesn't sign a new contract.
