We need to be careful here. In my experience, when fans start to refer to players by their 1st names, they are 1) an actual acquaintance of said individual or 2) in a deluded state of euphoria that is associated with another "club" I'd rather not mention. 🤭5 points

Well, Sam has gone. I wish him all the best at Utrecht and I am positive it is best for all concerned should the deal be made permanent. I was intending to inquire on the heading to the sunshine thread, if Sam was on the aircraft? It was the Aris Limassol game where I realised Sam reminded me of one of those Spanish waiters of old. A Manuel character, the very second you raised your hand to summon, he would turn and head off in the opposite direction. Sam had the same relationship with the ball. Oh, the Spanish hospitality's trade's loss is Utrecht's gain.5 points

We were previously told that we couldn't get rid of the screens for structural reasons, I think. When we're not generating enough cash to cover our annual costs each year. a significant redevelopment of the stadium appears a pipedream.5 points

Aye, just go pay the extra for Shankland or AN Other tbh. When was the last time we brought in a big name on loan who was trying to get gametime..4 points

RE: Batshuayi; I'd rather avoid loan deals and opt for permanent signings we can develop and sell on. However, that can be difficult in January so the odd short term deal can be useful. Batshuayi's scoring record is good but, as always, is he motivated to actually contribute? His wages are supposedly ~£3m per year and any loan may be subject to a fee so that could be a decent outlay for just four months of football. Every transfer comes with risk and no guarantees so would a permanent transfer represent better value? These are big decisions!4 points

Although our stadium is far superior, it annoys me that we are around 10,000 down on capacity in comparison to that lot. Over 5 seasons that is a significant amount of money. The screens were a good idea at the time, but the "beamback" idea fell flat on its arse and I can't even recall the last time that feature was used. It would've been better to have filled the corners in because the screens really don't provide any income now. I really feel like we need to find ways to increase the capacity otherwise we'll continue to be left behind financially. Presumably the beamback thing is dead now we have NEH as a venue to show away games to a large group of supporters.3 points

I used to hate giving up my seat in the Broomie for they bastards!.3 points

I am glad to see the back of him! worst Rangers player I think I have ever seen. However why does the likes of Matondo for instance not get the same treatment? he has really disappointed as much you could say! he can certainly be considered a flop as well IMO.3 points

You'll get more credible information from any gerbil or hamster on our transfer targets than you will off Pacific Quay CSC.3 points

"I have just returned from a festive trip to the Emerald Isle", says RAB Cosgrove. "Oh dearie me", says Tam the Token. Above are the two opening statements from the cohosts of Saturday's Off the Ball show. RAB continues his immersion into the warm waters of Orishness allowing resolutions of never being confronted by a Twinings tea bag and expressing a new found love for Gaelic sports only rivalled by further love for bearded avuncular Irish men. RAB radiates plastic Paddy to please the good friends of the show. An Irish Passport will be next? Tam's opener was the entry to that VAR non-decision on the 30th December'22 at Sellik Park. Tam and RAB are fed up with a constant week long discourse on Nick Walsh and Willie Collum then, proceed with a thirty minute long analysis. The synopsis is thus, Rangers had a point and held the moral high ground. The tipping point was to personalise the event by demanding Willie Collum no longer officiates games involving aRangers. I agree, Rangers over egged a rancid pudding, the demands on Collum proved no limit of exploitation had been considered in the club appreciation. Both continued with extrapolation, no refereeing officials and families should face threats and the personalisation will lead to another Referees strike, "Celtic fans caused the first referees strike, Rangers fans will cause the next, it will be one-one". These two clowns are forever chastising those pundits that criticise supporters who invade pitches or throw snowballs claiming they could be carrying weapons or including grenades in the thrown objects because; fans do not carry chainsaws or grenades. Here, they extrapolate to a referee strike because it is their preferred prejudice. There is no referee strike and there will not be one thus, I disagree. Now, if the PQ Gang Hut want to have a discussion or a documentary on the Referee strike that did happen, then I am all ears. Peter will not allow it. Anyways, Tam ends with another, "JFK moment". He tells of being in the Spar on the Isle of Arran when hearing a report of Rangers conceding a penalty against Killie. RAB emotes another well rehearsed faux guffaw. I wonder does RAB travel and declare his faux guffaws when visiting his considerable property portfolio? Is he a faux guffaw smuggler? It extrapolated in a PQ Gang Hut sense, when Kenny Macintyre appeared at One O'Clock to preview Sportsound, Tam could not resist another dig. Earlier in the week, a caller to the Jeremy Vine show made front page headlines, he bellowed, "F the Pope and the IRA" down the line. The faux guffaw began as Tam said, "Happy New Year Kenny, I have not heard you since you called Jeremy Vine during the week"? The shows guests, Conneach Macleod and Lubna Kerr chorused guffaws with RAB. It is most useful to have the occasional Rangers supporter on the show. Talking of guests, before the festive period we had Marc Jennings and BBC Scotland staffer, Paul English. Both are Sellik supporters. Over the weekend last we were served up Conneach and Lubna, both Sellik supporters. On Sunday, it was Paddy Duffy .......... what is the point? Conneach Macleod let the cat out the bag, he was on to promote his Hebridean Bakery tomes; however, he declares he was Sellik's Commercial Manager for five years them, seven years at the SFA, ......... ah dae whit Peter tells me. As Tam said, "oh dearie me" and the supporters of Scotland's other 41 senior professional clubs are NOT guffawing.3 points

I don't quite understand the idea that Clement may be the best since Walter. Steven Gerrard took us from a laughing stock to invincible title winners that stopped the unthinkable happening. Let's wait until Clement has won a title and re-assess.3 points

He was bad mate, but was he any worse than Jeffers, Beattie, Ian Black, Marcus Gayle, Sandanza, MOH etc? And I've not even mentioned those who played for us in league 2........ Having to go for a lie down in a dark room now, giving myself the fear 😨2 points

For the record I have never howled abuse at any Rangers player as I agree it does nothing for the player, I am meaning the talk on forums!. I think Matondo is on a par with Lammers, a wee flash of trickery doesn't make him much better than Lammers IMO. Considering both of their fees!.2 points

The Tillman example is not representative of the loans we've had over the years, he helped us into the CL and we might get a few bob from a future sale, but the vast, vast majority of loan players haven't paid off in this manner.2 points
-
Not sure but just keep increasing it until the waiting list is reduced. Freebies and gimmicks are a waste of time.2 points
-
I don't think we got screwed with Tillman. He helped us qualify for the CL and we may still get money when Bayern Munich sell him. I think you're simplifying things a bit.2 points

It is way to early to make that judgement. He is certainly very impressive in the way he conducts himself and the expectations he sets. He has done very well with with the mess he faced when he came in. It will take a few windows but I am hopeful he will bring us success.2 points

Hagi barely playing for a relegation fodder team in Spain strongly makes me question his ability to come back and play for us. I know football isnt an exact science and things dont work like that, but he has rarely played for them.2 points
-
I don't think Hagi is 'flourishing' in Spain. In general though, the weight of expectation is different at Rangers than it is at the vast majority of football clubs.2 points

Good news. Now lets move on to getting the rest of Beale's duds moved on, plus the always crocked lot that offer us no future as well, and make room and wages for some players that will contribute towards celebrating a treble in May.1 point

Ahhh…makes more sense. Glad I didn’t go with my initial impulse of ’What are you smokin?’ 😁1 point

I think the “Jack” he refers to is the ‘keeper, Jack Butland, not Ryan Jack.1 point

Ben strikes me as a big Radiohead fan. I imagine him driving around Glasgow, in the rain, tears streaming down his face, Thom Yorks whining in the background. Rubbing his knees at every stop light.1 point

Was certainly some player with some goals in his first spell at Leipzeg. Chelsea must be denting everyone's confidence going to them just now or recent years though.1 point

Sterling hasn't been playing that much football. We brought him in primarily as cover for the right back position and has never looked that great there. He had one great game at left back coming on as a sub, but he has done well as a defensive midfielder, but still isn't first choice in that position. Let's hope As for Jack, I p[resume that you mean Butland? There's an element of risk bringing in a 30-something player who has hardly played over the last few years. Goalie is probably the easiest position to do that. We've won a watch with him, but we've been burnt in the past with bringing in similar players. I'm not sure using him as a basis of a trading model will lead to long term success.1 point

I think that's why we have scouts and brought in the bloke from PSV. As for players, they and their agents will generally go where the money is, rather than where the trophies are.1 point

Yeah, rather have no one on the books than someone who is either lazy, or dogshit. Those two things tend to be close friends at the pro level. This one has lazy written all over him. Oh he is talented or else he wouldn't be bouncing to all of those top tier clubs. But I don't have to know that guy to tell you he has the lead ass. Same with that Dennis clown we have been linked with.1 point
-
The cost of materials and wages have hit any stadium expansion on any kind of scale needed to increase capacity is way beyond our club now unless we get some real heavy investment from someone/somewhere1 point

True, perhaps a Bassey type sale and a run in the CL in future changes that1 point

First Half-Beale--sold a bill of goods by a true shyster. As with all shysters when the time came to produce, he failed miserably. Disappointed at the club in the amount of control they provided to Beale during the transfer window. A classic conman (Beale) enabled by a willing dupe (RFC). He was so bad it almost seems like he was a saboteur. Second Half-Clement--Too early to call him the best thing since Walter but he is edging closer. His presence, his intensity. His record has been very good. Especially considering the injury issues and management of Beale's horrid signings. This guy has it though. That Walter vibe. This guy is a general. He looks THROUGH you. I hope he continues on successfully.1 point
