  1. Right. Clement went man for man, which in itself isn't a bad plan and it actually looked good initially but then Celtic started pulling our players from pillar to post and we were wide open. There's a genuine question as to whether he's got the personnel to do this, what with Dessers being a bit shy in the air, on the deck and immobile and our defence being slow. I don't mind the principle. I also don't mind that he insisted on building from the back. Our shape and structure is still a bit haphazard, and for me that's due to Souttar and Pröpper being worried about the runners. That's psychological. Yesterday was very reminiscent of Leeds Utd going away from home with Bielsa. One of the perks (or not) of when you go man for man is that you can't carry players having a stinker, if 1 or 2 players are losing their man and losing their duels consistently then generally it's curtains. We had half a dozen. I would've liked to have seen 4-4-2 oop personally, it worked well for us in the final even though we lost. I'll get panned for saying this but Clement does have ideas and a plan, the execution is just poor. We have a few days now to reset, the lads can have a couple of days and then we can get back on the training pitch with the new signings. The question I ask is would you rather be competitive against Celtic but be turned over by dross like Hamilton at home or vice versa? If he gets to grips with the OF then we'll be getting there. I'm trying to be glass half full here! Cheers.

  2. Just saw the videos of the Rangers fans shouting at the manager and players. Deary me. Are we determined to provide the Tims with more ammunition? Thats bloody embarrassing.

  5. Butland 'should've' done better with all 3 goals imo. Goal one, he got a hand to it Goal two, positionally horrendous Goal three, possibly harsh but a 'top' keeper getting beat twice from 20 odd yards in the same game? https://twitter.com/patrickcaskie/status/1830237333255602330

  6. During yesterday's game Jefte was booked for "persistent fouling" after commiting his 1st foul. Beaton clearly points to areas of the pitch and holds up 4 fingers. So did Jefte get booked for persistent fouling after 1 foul or did Beaton book him simply because we as a team had committed 4 fouls? Nobody from the club will ask the question, but it would be good for Beaton / SFA to explain the situation.

  7. I think Frankie has some links but I think it's ones from the past. I'll post a link for the new spreadsheets whenever I have this current one sorted. Like I said before lots of changes at Rangers this season along with a more complicated European set-up so it's taking longer than expected. Also, spotted a few mistakes that are proving problematic to get the answer to.. Time..

  8. Everyone is harping back to the good old days under Gerrard when we didn't lose to them as much. Gerrard also struggled to beat the dross. I think Clements shown the ability to create high quality chances against the dross and dominate them. That's why I have some confidence left in him moving forward.

  9. Won 4/5 ground duels, got joint most shots off in the whole game, had the third highest xG in the whole game (behind the two Japs), and created the second most chances. And, he only had 45 minutes (and 5 minutes of the first).

  10. Was overlooked when we threw it away last year because all anybody wanted to talk about was the “old guard”. Butland’s form fell off a cliff at the same time.

  16. Agreed. A lot if our fans think rebuilding is a quick thing, it's really not. I think this is in part down to us rebuilding fairly quickly to win 55, and the rheptiles then countering in one window under the fat Greek. These were both largely due to the other team being shite, on both occasions.

  17. I sound like an apologist but I promise you that Clement did not want the lads to shit the bed and stop committing to a press after Celtic successfully played through it for the first time. They panicked on the pitch. The biggest issues he has with this team and club currently are psychological. The plan was fine.

  19. Agreed. However, the error does not reduce the cogency of Woodhouse's analysis, which I fear is on the money.

  20. What i meant was my mind was made up after that Kilmarnock game that he wasn't the man to take us forward. We had a load of the ball but created no chances. That trend continued from that day forward. The loss to Celtic at Ibrox under Beale was a great example. What gives me at least a glimmer of hope under Clement is chance creation - we are still creating decent chances. As long as we are doing that we stand a fighting chance.

  22. Our inability to track runners was the most alarming aspect of our performance yesterday. The space we gave them in and around our box was terrifying. Are the players doing what the manager is asking of them?

  23. A few stats on our midfield: Ground Duels won: Diomande - 16/12 Barron - 4/0 Sterling - 4/2 Aerial Duels won: Diomande - 1/0 Barron - 1/0 Sterling - 1/0 Tackles: Diomande - 5 Sterling - 1 Barron - 0 Interceptions: Sterling - 4 Diomande - 0 Barron - 1 Blocked Shots and Clearances: Sterling - 1 for each Barron and Dio - 0 for both Have to say, Barron in particular isn't doing much defensively off the ball at all? Seems to find a way to avoid duels. Is he not more of an 8 than a 6? Another thing that stands out is not a single aerial duel won by our three midfielders. One thing that has worried me about Clement is that he doesn't seem to value aerial prowess at all, which will cost you in Scotland. Diomande's stats are rock bottom for aerials, like pretty much zero. So are Bahrami's. You almost never see 1st percentile nunbers but that's two signings now, both for midfield. Don't have stats for Barron but he's not much use in the air either. Propper's aerial numbers were poor for a centre back. So even the position that should really have good numbers, Clement doesn't seem to value it. Jefte and Cerny are useless in the air. Kasanwirjo is the one exception.

  25. King then created further problems in his crazy deals to try and get it out of that, which cost us a lot of cash. King made it personal, which Rangers ended up paying the cost of. The fight wasn't taken away from Rangers but rather iy made it more difficult for Rangers to get away from the deal. I haven't heard that and have no reason to believe it's true. Park wanted to invest in the club and tried to buy it prior to 2011. With all due respect, it dsounds like a crazy internet rumour, but I stand to be corrected. It's my view that King did it because there was nobody else willing to buy his shares. He was effectively controlling C1872 through their board and the shadow director, and the board of C1872 acted shamefully by agreeing to give him their money rather than invest the money in the club buy buying new shares. I'd like to think that I'm objective and can see both the good and bad that King and Park have done.

  26. Lawrence's yellow was the worst. He had only been on the park a few minutes and the yahoo just ran past him and dived - wasn't even a foul, never mind a yellow card.

  33. The general consensus from Sundays shambles seems to be that most fans whilst utterly disappointed, are in no way surprised. We've seen this film before with the same ending too many times. With that in mind, is it to have a drastic rethink about how we approach these games? As much as a high press is laudable, it appears to me to play right into Celtics hands. How many times have we seen a combination of 2 simple passes and we're cut open like a knife through soft butter? I get that PC wants to play a certain formation but for me it's horses for courses. What if we set ourselves out to be hard to beat instead of trying to go toe to toe? What if we adopted a versatile 3-5-2 with the potential to easily convert to 5-3-2 when defending? It still could provide width with our full backs (not Tav) and makes us compact and stuffier to break down. God knows we need to try something new. ----------Butland--------- -----------Souttar--------- ---Neraysho----Propper-- Sterling‐--------------Jefte -----Barron--Diamonde--- -----‐-----Bajrami--------- -----Dessers----Danilo----

  40. Unfortunately my conclusion is that Clement doesn’t know how make a team hard to beat. We haven’t been a solid unit since he came in. The 3-2 Ross County game is the one that comes back to me every time. Wide open from literally the first minute when they almost scored to the final minute. Nothing done about it. And that continued on from game to game. The type of player he has signed only adds to that.

  42. Of the players that started I went for Jefte, thought he did ok considering the defensive doubts we had over him. Raskin was the best of the subs, praying we can keep him fit and give him a good run in the team.

Jesus man this post is depressing I am a long long fan have been through untold misseries and will still go to games--AT IBROX--but admit that I did not go to the cup games at HAMPDUMP do to health consideration. I followed the team through the journey(home & away) but only at home now for above reasons so todays result is just another blip,we have a rebuilt squad so let's get behind OUR TEAM.
