  1. Hamilton v Rangers Match preview. Yes! Yes! Yes! The international breaks are being put in cold storage until March. From now until March it is wall to wall club football. Well except for that stupid idiot idea of having a winter stop, It just means taking 3 weeks off and then having to play a backlog of games in a crushed schedule later date.We are now entering into the meaty section of the competition. This is the time when we get down to the nitty gritty where league's are lost or won. Points thrown away at this stage could be lethal. The last time we came away from the international break we threw the top place in the league away with a poor performance against Hearts. Yes we were bullied but as the boss Stevie Gerrard would say “we have to find a way round whatever the opposition throws at us.” Steven Gerrard and Filip Helander intimated that none of the Internationalists were carrying any injuries and he has a full squad of players to pick from. Jordon Jones has returned to training but Sunday will be too early for him and Steven said that he would expect him to be ready for selection in about ten days time. We travel through to Hamilton to the Hope CBD Stadium, the home of Hamilton Academicals. The last time we played Hamilton the gaffer played Jermaine Defoe up front and he kindly repaid him with a hat-trick. Goldson and Barisic notched the other two goals with Borna treating us to one of his signature free-kicks hitting the ball over the wall and into the top corner of the net. The team that day was: McGregor; Tavernier, Goldson, Edmundson, Barisic, Davis (Murphy 64), Kamara, Arfield (Polster 64), Ojo (Morelos 73), Defoe, Stewart With Alfie only returning from a long Journey on Saturday and after taking part in two games, I actually think Gerrard will go for Defoe again. He may pick the exact same team again with possibly Scott Arefield, dropping out for Ryan Kent as Arfield also had a long Journey, returning from America where his national team, Canada, took a 4-1 hiding from the Americans. Steven Davis may also be rested as he played in two extremely difficult games against the Netherlands and Germany. Joe Aribo could be given that midfield Berth. Hamilton are currently in the tenth place in the league on equal points with Hearts. More worrying for them is that they are only one point in front of second bottom St Johnstone and three points in front of bottom placed St Mirren. While St Johnstone have a worse goal difference St Mirren have a better goal difference. With St Johnstone having a home game against Aberdeen and St Mirren at home to Ross county a defeat to Rangers could see them plunge to the bottom of the league if the other two results go against them. I would imagine that fact will make them keep the game as tight as possible. The referee for the day is Steven McLean 'with Dougie Potter, Drew Kirkland running the line and the Fourth Official is Gavin Ross. Unfortunately playing Hamilton in Hamilton means another run-out on one of those horrible plastic pitches. What a shame the SPFL didn't take the Dutch example and propose to kick them out. I take it that will rule out Jamie Murphy getting a place on the bench. After beating them 5-0 the last time we finished that day by climbing to the top of the League after a Celtic defeat at Livingstone so let's hope Rangers and Livingston can give us a repeat performance and we get back where we belong. You could say hoping at the Hope. I think the team will be. McGregor Tavernier Goldson Edmundson Barisic Jack Kamara Aribo Stewart Defoe Kent C'mon the Gers!!!!

  2. I can think of no player who has benefited more from the financial and corporate struggles at Rangers than Scott Brown. His sideboard is creaking under the weight of trophies he wouldn’t have won had Rangers not been consigned to 8 years of effective exile. I’m not saying he’s without some talent or that Celtic would have won nothing over that period but the success he’s enjoyed is certainly tainted by circumstances and diluted in worth. The way the media has elevated him to star status is out of all proportion to his abilities and is based on achievements during a period when there was no credible challenge.

  3. Thought I would start a little fun Friday topic. Pick a starting 11 of Rangers players (preferably ones you have seen) where you have no more than one player from any one country. Klos (Germany) Porrini (Italy) Cuellar (Spain) Moore (Australia) Numan (Netherlands) Kanchelskis (Russia) Davis (Northern Ireland) Gazza (England) Laudrup (Denmark) Morelos (Colombia) McCoist (Scotland)

  5. Morelos comes across in his interviews as a very sensible and professional young man. He's also been well advised in his career; yielding a good contract in Finland before moving to Rangers and working hard on his game to earn at least two contract negotiations to become one of our best paid players (perhaps even the best paid). He also rarely gives interviews to domestic press which shows he's well aware of how duplicitous they have been towards him during his time in Scotland. More power to his elbow, foot, head etc...

  6. That was a really excellent article by @Rick Roberts and articulates exactly how we all feel about this. We will never get to the bottom of it, but if this injustice keeps us focussed on success, and on ensuring that we deliver the best possible response by winning the league, it might just prove the concept of karma because those that hate us enough to do this to our club will drown in their own poison. I will never ever forget the actions (or in some cases the lack of) by the other clubs in Scotland who knew this was a stitch up, and I will have no sympathy for any club that suffers in the future. And they will suffer because I know that many fans like me will never spend a single penny by going to their grounds ever again.

  8. Methinks at the time it was explained that HMRC will probably have send him their demands, although it was said that they have a certain allowance period anyway. They would then send a few demands and after 6 months or so, they would arrive in force and person, which they did. That was essentially roundabout the time he declared admin. Whether that was the case, I assume it will be very hard to prove that HMRC acted deliberately. What begs the question though is the demand remarked upon in the article I posted above, where he had enforcers seemingly chasing before he even set a foot inside Ibrox. And if that was the case, why did no-one at HMRC made this public or came to him during his first few days of his ill-fated reign? Those are questions that spring immediately to mind and without being an investigative mastermind ...

  10. Like most people I think I'm somewhat of a hypocrite on the matter. 1. Usually when pyro is set off it's because we've scored (or to add colour/noise to a pre-match display). As such, I usually enjoy it, even if I've been near where it has been sent off once or twice. 2. With my H&S hat on, such items can be dangerous. Their manufacturer origin won't always be known and as such their safety can be unproven. Further, whilst fire is perhaps a very low risk, smoke is not so that can cause issues both in terms of people's health and with respect to crowd control. 3. If used in European matches, the club will be fined and that's not good news financially even if the costs involved are fairly low. All things considered, I'd rather they weren't used but neither am I going to make a big issue of them on a personal basis. As such I'll respectfully abstain from any vote...

So other guys bother to turn up and do the spade work then he steps in and decides yeah I will play at a major tourney if they qualify taking a spot from one of those who bothered turning up to get us there. Even if they qualify Scotland obviously aren't going to win Euro 2020. Giving him a place ahead of someone else who will continue to turn up in he future would be more than unfair.

  30. The fact remains that when Rangers entered administration on 14th Feb 2012 the debt was £55m of which £21m was owed to HMRC who had deliberately allowed Whyte to go 6 months without paying Tax/NI. This meant that HMRC were owed more than 25 percent of the total meaning they could block a CVA which they did. The BTC hadn’t been decided at the time of administration. It had been appealed & the FTTT didn’t report back til Nov 2012

  32. themanthebeastscanttame has a presentation issue. The content is usually a pointer in a direction; however, rarely arrives at a conclusion. The above is a case in point, he suggests BBC Scotland long term Producer, Paul Bradley was behind the RTC Blog? I cannot confirm or deny this accusation, but Bradley was, and is a player in the game. He is a habitual facilitator in aiding the likes of Phil McFournames, Chris McLaughlin, Angela Haggerty, ............... etc. Let's go back a dozen years, an old firm game at Ibrox before the fixture split. The game ended 1-1, Hemdani volleying an injury time equaliser. The match kicked-off at noon, BBC Radio Scotland's scheduled a documentary from 11.30 until noon entitled, 'You'll Never Walk Alone'. The Producer and Presenter of the propaganda piece was Paul Bradley. Of course, 2007 was before a dozen Producer resignations from the larger BBC. Remember, it was found across the radio and TV shows that Producers were telephoning in those shows, to boost dramatic content, win the prizes, and make pertinent micro/macro political points. There were several high profile casualties, Paul Bradley was NOT one of them. You'll Never Walk Alone' was a calamity. Paul and a few of his BBC Scotland Producing pals(although they never revealed their designations during the production) told lies about it being the definitive Sellik song. Those of us old enough remember when Liverpool supporters sang the song for a decade and a half, without the bold Bhoys paying homage. The song derives from the Musical, 'Carousel', and is about suicide. Paul and pals got very emotional, ie how the song speaks to them as individuals and as a collective. Paul told of raising his scarf, closing his eyes, and thinking of his deceased Mother. The song had similar deep meanings for all Sellik supporters. Of course, BBC Scotland sport realised thirty minutes of YNWA on a loop before an Ibrox old firm game was a set-up, and promised to play Simply the Best after the game. They did, I don't know why? Sacking Paul Bradley would have been far more appropriate. Paul would go on to put Phil McFournames on the radio, standing in for a contrived absence of mid-afternoon DJ, Tom Morton. I kid you not, Phil got thirty minutes as, 'Bosco' whilst Morton was broadcasting from his home in Shetland. Today, Bradley's extra-curricula activities are all about doing football training with professional clubs in an effort to loose weight. His deceased Mother would be proud of him.

  33. If there was concrete evidence available I doubt we would read it on that blog first. However that doesn't mean there isn't real value in doing what he does or the way he goes about it. Nor is there any harm throwing a likely name in the ring - many an effective exposé has started by speculating in public and if he's prepared to take the defamation risk then why not? I've noticed it's become almost de rigueur in some quarters to belittle this particular blogger as somehow less worthy but I think he deserves at least some credit for continuing the fight when many have long ago given up.

  35. What a weird comment!!! Do you not believe it is the duty of the Scottish Government to insist on an inquiry?. The SNP are not interested in seeking justice for the victims! the victims have been begging for help from the Scottish Government for long enough yet they keep silent on it and continue to ignore the victims and their families while they show interest in victims outside Scotland!. In fact one victims family were even called bigots by James Dornan SNP for asking them for help.

  36. He brought in around £259m, so an average net outflow of £20m a season isn't bad. He turned the club around and got them to the CL final. Overall he did a great job, under difficult circumstances with the reduced budget due to the new stadium. He did make some dodgy purchases along the way though.
