  1. I assume this means Lewis Mayo isn't in the manager's first team plans either. Isn't Leon King a centre-half? He's only 17 but aren't great things expected of him? Surely we're buying another centre-half, wide player and midfielder in the knowledge that any decent offer received this summer can't be turned down. If English sides aren't looking at Goldson and Helander I'll be astonished, Kent and Kamara must be on the radar's of many clubs as are Morelos and probably Roofe. I still think it's our full backs who are most coveted though. The directors deserve a lot of credit for keeping the squad together this January, indeed we've probably strengthened it which is remarkable.

  2. I honestly think we won a watch getting Helander for £3.5m. Even if we sold him for double that we would really struggle to find a player of his quality for that money. He’s a player I hope just stays here for a very long time.

  3. Allegedly, what rahoops are doing with Laxalt, because every time he plays, another wedge has to go to his parent club. As for Ntcham, to sign for one scummy club may be regarded as a misfortune; to sign for two looks emblematic of a personal problem. Fortunately for Marseilles, it bought the player on Amazon Prime, so, by my understanding, it may return him, unused, for a full refund within 21 days.

  4. I see AVB has offered his resignation as he didn't want Ntcham. The toxicity of the brand is evident!.

  5. As far as I'm aware the club limit the release of items such as these so I'd hope the market remains viable for all looking to raise funds; whether it the club from commercial agreements such as this one or charities.

  6. Balogun is right footed? I expect the plan to be Goldson and Balogun for the right side and Helander and Simpson for the left side. It would be a huge ask to expect Katic to come in after a season out with an ACL injury and to expect him to perform at an elite level. I hope he will be loaned out somewhere where he will play every game and we can then assess how he is doing when Balogun’s deal is up at the end of next season. I do agree with @Rousseau though, I don’t think he will make it with us but if he did well on loan he could make us some money.

  11. if that is the case we are out of europe. It's not the case, the exceptions for elite sports still stands.

  12. Morelos will still play in Europe, absolutely no doubt in my mind. Jones and Edmundson ARE still our players.

  14. Seems odd that they are playing before us but good luck going down to Rugby Park tonight. The expected temperature around match time is 2 degrees with a 70% chance of rain and sleet. Not to forget the plastic pitch

  15. Well, here's a(nother) laugh. The best -and, clearly, the worst- laid plans of mice and men.... Oliovier Ntcham: Nobody's Bhoy Marseille manager Villas-Boas asks to resign after club signs Olivier Ntcham Marseille manager André Villas-Boas gave an extraordinary press conference on Tuesday where he announced he had handed in his resignation letter after disagreeing with the club’s decision to sign Olivier Ntcham on loan with an option to buy from Celtic. On the signing of Olivier Ntcham: It was not a decision that I took. It was specifically a player that I said no to. I was not aware of it, I learned of the signing when I woke up and went on the number one Marseille website. I offered my resignation through saying that I was not in agreement with the sporting strategy. The board has not yet given me final feedback. I do not want money, I just want to leave. A gentlemen’s agreement about signing players has been broken. This club has already experienced two or three years of randomness in terms of its transfers and I cannot accept that. Now I am focused on Lens. For me they are the team of the year. We are not going to be able to prepare in the best conditions. And I will continue until such time that the board asks me to leave. This has nothing to do with the incidents that occurred on the weekend. It is related to the sporting side. Even the departure of Nemanja (Radonjic), I was informed in the evening… I am waiting for a response from the board, and if it is a no, we will continue. I don’t want the club’s money, nor Frank’s (McCourt) money. I simply want to leave. I want to be clear with you. On the consequences of him offering his resignation: I have an emotional connection to France, to Provence. I really liked Marseille. I like Marseille but I am a professional. When you want to give me a guy who has no similarities with the characteristics of the guy who left… I have a lot of respect for Jacques-Henri (Eyraud) who is in the process of solving the TV rights problem, but here, my professionalism has been affected. https://www.getfootballnewsfrance.com/2021/marseille-manager-villas-boas-asks-to-resign-after-signing-of-olivier-ntcham/

  16. I wonder what the difference is between them. I'd have thought they would both just transfer seamlessly from one covid regime to another

  17. I agree, Helander has to be kept. No one can complain when Balogun gets a starting place in the team but he's five years older than Helander and needs to be sold now if we're going to get decent money. I think sending Katic out on loan for a spell is a given.

  18. Even the little things we have done there are impressive. Two very promising players signed on contracts despite interest from other clubs (both players proving wrong some fans who never seem to stop talking about their Celtic supporting backgrounds). Kai Kennedy taken away from a struggling ICT side where he wasn’t appreciated enough and sent to Raith Rovers who are challenging for promotion and where he has made a flying start and for the first time this season getting a full 90 minutes every game. Exactly the same with Josh McPake, taken away from a Morton side who aren’t doing well and didn’t fully appreciate him and sent to the Harrogate in the English League 2 where he is also getting a full 90 minutes for the first time this season and by all accounts getting rave reviews. Hopefully he shows there that he deserves to play at a much higher level than that. We are actively engaged in and managing the situation of our young players.

  19. Looked into it a bit further and it looks like the clubs. My slight concern about this is that these sorts of things have traditionally been for charities and this is just a money-making concern, which may impact charities if the supply of signed shorts is reduced or the market gets saturated and people aren't as likely to bid for them (thinking back to our MM days).

  21. Well I got told of f for calling Jones and Edmundson muppets for what they did. But they aren’t Rangers players now and they weren’t first team picks at the time, and they haven’t been seen since. So, yeah I think the point is that players need to keep their heads screwed on otherwise they aren’t going to stay in this team. I feel like Morelos is given leeway because he is a ticket to financial income this summer despite lacklustre performances. However, I doubt he’ll be seen much if at all for the rest of the season now. To be clear, I love Morelos when he’s fighting for the ball, using his strength and holding off defenders - picking up cards in those situations is inevitable and not really a problem for me. Stamping on players and kicking out isn’t acceptable though, particularly when it can mean an easy red card and us dropping points.

  22. I definitely see Helander as more of a long term option than Balogun, unless we get offered daft money for him, obviously. Looking at the transfer market, it looks like daft money isn't common though in the current circumstances, who knows how long for too.

  23. Doh, I'd forgotten Balogun was right footed because he'd featured mainly on the left. That explains why he constantly shanks it out of play with his left foot when clearing...

  25. I don't think Katic is good enough. Of the six CBs we have, he's bottom of the pile, for me. I would be trying to move him on.

  27. He is on loan to attract a buyer. Might as well forget about him. His only contribution will be a transfer fee.

  28. Consistency - exactly. Not a witch hunt against us - just that other clubs, one in particular arent seeing the same punishments for the same type of incidents - leniency for them, harsh punishment for us. Can't be a witch hunt against us when the punishments are deserved.

  29. Simpson’s a left-footed CB so presumably he’ll challenge Helander for the left-sides CB position. No easy task.
