  9. If we get those 3 it will have been a very decent window - to all intents and purposes it seems that Raskin is about to be announced to go with the Cantwell signing - and we could be doing with another RW option so Whittaker may be what is needed. Our spine has been the part that has been lacking in the last 18 months and I think both Raskin and Cantwell can help there. Positive shoots

  12. FWIW, I think Whittaker will also be confirmed over the next few days with perhaps one more on top of that. Not a bad window should all that business come to fruition.

  13. None of us know if that's true, it's an opinion based on a statement made by a manager who either wants to keep the player, or drive the price up, or get the press off his back. It could also be argued that this shows drive, character and the persistence that we require from a player, to make a move happen. Or it could be that you've a history of writing a player off before you see them in the flesh. We'll see.

  14. A great deal is made about our attacking fullbacks delivering crosses and on their day they can make a huge impact. However the truth is that in most games the quality of their deliveries in actually very poor and the ratio of goals to crosses is very low and certainly scant reward for having fullbacks whose defensive capabilities are so inadequate.

  16. Yes, except nobody else plays that slot anymore either. Beale wants Barisic getting higher up the pitch to become the "winger" on that side - so nobody is playing LW, as it merely brings more bodies into the space he wants Barisic occupying

  17. RANGERS players of the present will be able to heed advice from club legends of the past after new posters featuring inspirational quotes were placed around the club's training centre. Kitman Jim McAlister has given an inside look at spine-tingling words of encouragement from the likes of Walter Smith and Bill Struth that players will be able to see every day - plus a cracker from Jimmy Bell. 3 The Gers kitroom now features inspirational quotesCredit: INSTAGRAM/@JIM_MCALISTER_ 3 There's one from the iconic Bill StruthCredit: INSTAGRAM/@JIM_MCALISTER_ Morton legend McAlister, who also turned out for the likes of Hamilton and Dundee, retired from playing in early 2021 to take up the role at Ibrox. And posting to his Instagram story, he's revealed a behind the scenes look at the kitroom revamp at the club's Auchenhowie training facility. The first one features the great Walter Smith, and features a picture of the legendary former boss holding the SPL league trophy aloft. Below the image are some stirring words for the stars of today from Smith, who passed away in October 2021. The quote reads: "Rangers Football Club. Do not enter unless you are prepared to put yourself second. "This should be the one and only time second best is good enough for you." There's also one featuring the iconic Bill Struth, the manager who led Rangers to 18 league titles during a three-decade long spell in charge. Carrying a similar ethos to the words from Smith, Struth's quote reads: "No one man is bigger than Rangers Football Club." A third poster features another Ibrox legend and former colleague of McAlister's, Jimmy Bell. Bell achieved legendary status at the club he initially joined in the mid 1980s. He sadly passed away last year at the age of 69. Bell was a formidable and popular character behind the scenes at Ibrox and often received plenty of credit for helping to withhold the high standards that Rangers want around the club. Former manager Steven Gerrard once joked that Bell was in fact the actual "boss" when it came to the club's backroom team. Such is Bell's iconic status within the club, he too has been given a poster with an inspirational quote. But the quote isn't quite like the others, and is perhaps fitting for the man who many Gers stars often said was the hardest person in the building to get into their good books. 3 Jimmy Bell's quote isn't quite like the other ones!Credit: INSTAGRAM/@JIM_MCALISTER_ The quote on Bell's poster simply reads: "What the f**k do you want?" Alongside the post, McAlister jokes that of all the new additions to the Gers kit area, it's "the most appropriate one." Former Rangers striker Jermain Defoe paid an emotional tribute to Bell after his sad passing, describing him as "a friend" and "amazing person." Defoe left Rangers a year ago, and he's just about to embark on a brand new career adventure. Since hanging up his boots after a brief spell at Sunderland, Defoe has rejoined former club Tottenham in a coaching and ambassadorial role.

  18. Even just the look of him screams nonce. your quote of the spotlight tweet mentions a chap called Martin Henry. https://footballtaxhavens.wordpress.com/2019/10/19/martin-hendry-sfa-review-into-football-child-abuse-chairman-roles-at-lgbt-youth-which-he-founded-with-james-rennie-paedophile-and-rc-church-compromise-any-sfa-report/

  19. It would be logical to investigate who at the sfa seen fit to appoint this chap Martin Henry to perform this investigation and what justification they had to have him do it over someone else. But this is Scotland where the truth gets buried.

  25. With that personnel I prefer a 4-2-3-1 Keeper Tavernier - Goldson - Davies - Borna Raskin - Lundstram/Jack Cantwell - Tillman - Kent Morelos Or even more of a Xmas tree formation with Tillman being slightly further ahead of Cantwell and Kent, just in behind Morelos One thing though.... we at least are starting to look like we have options, both in terms of formation and personnel

  26. Beale metioned transfer outgoings and with finances needing to be looked after, you'd imagine it won't just be McCann leaving this window. If Cantwell is the "first teamer" in the creative role behind the forwards, you wonder if the Tillman option gets less likely to be taken. I'm sure Beale would want him but can the finances support that deal and everything else that needs addressed ? Beale speaks of 2 players for every jersey Would that be Cantwell, Tillman, Hagi and Lowry for the 10 role ? There are ideal options and choices but viability increasingly comes into the equation and alters what can actually happen.

  27. Raskin and Cantwell alone would make it an excellent window. The talk seems to be that Whittaker will be done too. Quite surprised there aren’t senior outgoings because that would leave us with a big squad.

  28. Excited to see how this lad will fit into our attacking set-up. No doubt we need more quality options and Cantwell's style may help in terms of breaking down low(ish) blocks we regularly face. Same goes for Whittaker. Addition of Raskin will also offer a better platform for these attacking midfielders to do their job.

  29. The Bosman ruling brought into sharp focus how players (with help from their agents) really think about cash and loyalty. Ignore the pish and wind that is spoken and just hope (if they sign), the on field performance and results are good.
