Craig Brown believes there should be no way back for Kris Boyd
Danny replied to ian1964's topic in General Football Chat
I think the most valuable think Craig Brown has to say is 'ey, eyyyy ey'. Boyd was committed to Scotland. That's why he refused to play under Burley. -
My fondest memory of Huistra was the confusion over the pronounciation of his name, Houstra? Hewstra? Hoystra?
-
I was the biggest advocate of him being given his chance. 'far better than the worst player for years, Broadfoot'. I stood by that. I was horrified last season to see Broadfoot in ahead of him. But this season Whittaker has probably been our worst player - he looks like he is scared to do pretty much anything now, and has absolutely no confidence. I'm not sure about him feeding off goals, but I do know he's a shadow of the player who featured for us in the run to Manchester. The only theory I have is his confidence dipped because he knew no matter how he played, Broadfoot would be given his place when fit. And knowing you're fairly disposable isn't really the best material for a player to 'feed' off.

Boyd always was, I hate this misnomer. It was HE who withdrew himself. What Scotland thought was irrelevant. The reality is he is still the one to decide, and hopefully HE will consider himself to be available.

I like George Graham btw.

I accept his displays domestically were patchy at best, but he did show some signs of class, and certainly excelled in Germany. So why, when other players were as bad or worse than he was, was it he who got dropped out of sight and no one else? I do feel that he was treated a little unfairly, to say the least - after the Unirea match, he never featured for a second after that. Yet other players, horribly out of form, still got a chance to put things right. He didn't. Why?

DaMarcus Beasley is playing for a WC slot. There is no doubt about that. We've not exactly treated him that well, which has led to poor form from him. Now he has something to play for. He is playing for the US national jersey.

This mess is becoming a sorry affair. And the reason he is on 36k is the way he played in Germany. Which has been forgotten by just about everyone. I am not outright defending him, but I do also feel he has been made a scapegoat, and was never even wanted in the first place.

Rangers 6 - 1 Motherwell: Player Ratings and MoM Poll
Danny replied to Frankie's topic in Rangers Chat
I'm very skeptical about Thomson - I disagree that he's found a thing lately. He just doesn't look sharp, or at the races on any level to me. Agree about Lee. Agreed. Edu's the best midfielder we have imo - along with an on form Davis, that is. And that's the partnership I want to see in the middle. -
It's quite remarkable. We're playing a proper fluid system, a simple system of one DM and one CM, flanked by 2 wingers in Novo and Beasley, who support a currently blooming partnership of Miller and Boyd up front, including a Miller who's right back in form. And bingo - we're getting results, and for the first time in ages, performances to go with them. Does this show that Walter's a good or bad manager? For insisting on playing guys out of position for so long until recent then finding this fantastic formula? I don't know. We know he is stubborn - he kept playing guys like Fleck, Lafferty and Rothen on the left who just weren't doing it. Now it's Novo who is, while Beasley tears a new one on the right. Walter confuses me.

Davis really pulled the strings in the middle today along with McCulloch. I hope Walter sees sense now and ceases to play him on the right wing ever again.

Why do some players appear to improve away from Ibrox
Danny replied to wabashcannonball's topic in Rangers Chat
If you're on about horrible defending, then technically speaking the EPL is bloody awful. Man Utd losing 3 to Fulham, Wigan losing 9 to Spurs, Liverpool losing 2 to Portsmouth. Bad defending is fairly universal. There's a reason our teams got raped in the Europa and Champions Leagues. We're not just miles behind the EPL and Championship, we're barely equal to mundane European teams. Scottish football is terribly poor. -
I thought it was the bender then the punishment for that. The finger flipping was seperate. Meh, not that it really matters.

The SPL is somewhere between League 2 and League 1. The Championship is a much, much better league than the SPL. -
Boozegate had nothing to do with why McGregor was punished, it was for his stupidity after it. And what the blazes does his 'shagger' moniker have to do with...anything! I can't see any sense in your post, no offence.

I didn't count at all. I've already got a headache as it is!

We nearly signed most of the players on that list a few years back

You both meaning Naysmith?

I like that Prefer 'Consolation Cup' though.

As a Milan fan I'm not sure how I feel about getting Utd AGAIN. They're beatable, and anything but imperious this season. Milan have picked up significantly domestically but did fall to a rather bad defeat at the weekend. I suppose I'm getting tired of Utd in the knockout stages. But that said, we do always win...so far...

He's at Genk isn't he, these days, last I heard. Moved on from Cercle Bruges.
-
I'd take all of them Being serious, we're not in a position to bring anyone in. Unless we transfer Rothen's wages to a new player.
-
Alexander was harshly treated, but not regretfully. McGregor is the better goalkeeper - and I find it comical that so many, back then, wanted Alexander in goals, on more of a moral basis than a football one. Mind you, the same sort of fans wanted us to get Man Utd, Real Madrid and Wolfsburg in the CL You pick your best players, even if it means being unfair to some, and McGregor is the best in Scotland right now.

Charlie Adam, for us, seemed to have a real problem with the basics of the game. He was lazy on the ball, gave it away too easily, and seemed to lack energy. But for some reason he had a gift of occasionally pulling off Hollywood passes and shots. I don't know what he's like for Blackpool and I don't really care, because my last and most vivid memory is of him getting away with stamping 2 opponents in 2 successive matches. That kind of thuggery has no place at Ibrox. Not even when it's a Sheep you're stamping on. -

tbh 'Arry just doesn't fancy him. I don't know why. He's a class player, who if given a run is as good as any RB in England. He needs a move, but is probably content on the wages.
