Broke earlier on twitter by same lad who broke Allen heading out Look like it’s bang on again surprised we’ve got him from Southampton especially as he’s on the board, but a tremendous coup4 points

Winning the league doesn't only give us a chance at the CL groups. It guarantees that Celtic will NOT get that same chance, which will result in cost cutting again from them.3 points

So disappointing Frankie, having appearing to solved the problem on the left side of defence. we now appear to have a new problem on the right side. Tired of hearing about Tav's goals & assist count - his primary role is to defend.3 points

That is our 2nd defeat of the season, lots to be confident about for the rest of the season2 points

I think Tavernier's contributions to the team, far outweighs his occasional errors. I believe on our day we're better than Young Boys and think we'll beat them at home.2 points

Going forward, I think Kent will replace Ojo in the team. We're almost 'forced' to play him at the moment. Jones is still missing too -- which completely slipped my mind until now.2 points

Gutted. I thought this would be a really tough game, but they did nothing. I've since learned that they were a tad depleted, I think? It was a good opportunity to set ourselves up well in the group. They'll be better in the reverse fixture, unfortunately. We defended well, to be fair, which is usually the case in Europe. I thought Helander and Barasic were superb; both suit the European game. Goldson was okay, generally; not great, but okay. Ojo... there's a talent there, but... Arfield was good. I thought Stewart was decent too: he showed flashes of being able to create something, but it was not enough, however. Two brain farts sums it up. Strangely, I still wouldn't drop Tavernier. Yes, he's not been as good as last season, and he's always got a mistake in him, but he's just too important to the team. I can't explain it. My take aways are: Goldson needs to practice heading the ball DOWN, and Tavernier needs to practice defending long balls over the top. And, Ojo needs direction: he needs to be told, roughly, what to do in any given situation, taking the initiative out of his hands. Gutted.2 points

Wonder which inhabitant of the PQ Gang Hut lost the battle to put the round of post match drinks in the Bern Novotel on their expenses claim, "...mine is maxed out!" one was heard to proclaim, "Rob's being Rob" another uttered in reference to Rob Mclean. If any PQ accountant is looking in things were much cheaper in the other side of the building in the Ibis and Ibis Budget, but hey it's only us licence fee payers money eh?1 point

Twas a good afternoon out, decent football too. P.S. at least 2 more GersNetters in that pic!1 point

Yep, helps nothing to continue it. Just move on to Hamilton and let Gerrard and Tav sort it out. Looking for a good result since at Ibrox at least they appear to have learned how to break down these ultra defensive formations. The slaughter of the sheep was fine evidence of that.1 point

That's been my view of it since we qualified and still is. Would anyone given a choice really prefer this happened at any ground in the league or in this game? I will take a league win anywhere rather than a win in this group. That's what get's us a chance at CL groups where there is as much money on offer in a single year as we could earn across 4 years in the EL groups. And I still think we can qualify from the group but if that doesn't happen it's not a big deal. Losing at St Mirren, Motherwell etc would be a big deal but this isn't.1 point

I don't think he has been playing bad enough to be dropped, he was excellent v the sheep, he is the captain and he is pivotal to the way we play. Tav is the best RB in the league and at Rangers, we do not have any player who could come in and provide as much to the team than he does, unless SG wants to change the system?.1 point

We played ok last night , the fact Young boys tried to play at a higher tempo than they usually do is testimony to how they rated us , first half was very patchy , second half was unfortunate , yes Tav was to blame for the first , however the ref made several really pooor decisions , definite sending off and penalty , as for the winner Tav slipped end off , it was happening to all the players all night , these things happen but some of the drivel I’ve read is as per usual way way way over the top .1 point

I think Ojo is more effective playing on the right, which is where I expect him to play when Kent is back. You also add Murphy to the list of LW type1 point

Domestic competition is far more important to us than the Europa League. I just hope the injury to Ryan Jack doesn't end up costing us where it really matters.1 point

Barisic, Helander, Goldson all made mistakes last night, unfortunately YB managed to score from Tavs mistakes, even Davis gave the ball away a lot of times, such is football.1 point

IMHO, and I reckon not many will echo that, our main target in Europe was achieved by reaching the Group stage and the set amount of financial gains that comes with it. Any point is a bonus, every win or draw will add to our stature - no doubt. Why that point of view? Because UEFA has messed up the European competitions and any level and decent competition goes out of the window, as all is geared for money ... and primarily money for the "big" nations like Germany, France, England, Spain and Italy, where mid-table teams enter the EL at later stages and 1-3 or 4 enter the "Champions" League at later stages too, while the "also-rans" have to qualify for the money-spinning stuff somewhere in midseason. As probably any other Bear. I live by the motto Sir Walter gave a decade or so ago: "Rangers have never gone into any game with any other objective than winning it." Yet, the reality in the here and now is that Europe is a fine bonus, but national silverware is more important. From that perspective, we did not only lose the game, but also Ryan Jack, who has been in the running for every MotM for months. Hopefully it ain't that bad. As for the game, my biggest point of bother - as with quite a few games before - is the unwillingness to change things (WHAT a surprise was Stewart's inclusion last Sunday and what an impact he had!). MW still gets it into the neck with his Plan A sentence, yet time and again we go the very same route (and did so last season, BTW) and oftentimes FAIL to do Plan A better. Two names pop up here and essentially all about them has been said: Ojo and Tavernier. And here, right now, one has to say the bucket stops with SG.1 point

Of course, it’s just that some of the comments are too far. He is a very good player who costs us goals occasionally. We aren’t going to get better than him with our budget, it’s as simple as that.1 point

We have Barker as well but they're quite different in terms of style.1 point

Let's look forward to our next match against Hamilton we can moan and groan forever but it won't change the result.1 point

IMO it could come down to partnerships. Playing two centre halves means they need such a good understanding of each other. I dont think we have had the time to 'trial' which two would eventually be the best two together despite having a lot of pre season friendlies as Edmundson and Helander came in late. Our only chance is league cup and u-23 games but it would also be a risk in the event of any injury. So for me SG starts Goldson as experience every time and is rotating Katic and Helander. The latter may also need time to settle and adapt. FWIW Katic starts first every time for me. A back 3 doesnt seem to enter SG philosophy but with Tav out of form at the moment it could have been an option.1 point

I was surprised that King did not come on when Ryan Jack had to go off. I felt he would have added a bit of calmness to midfield and it would have meant that Arfield could remain as one of the front three. With respect to Tav, although his performances have not matched those of last season if Flanagan was used as right back we would lose some attacking flair. Polster might be an alternative but we have not had much opportunity to see if he can perform at a consistently high level and provide an offensive threat. Finally, when we saw the group we were in it was apparent that it was going to be tight and after two games we still have all to play for though it would be useful to get a result in the next match against Porto.1 point

I think we all do surely? If I wasn't supported I would get a sore back.?1 point

Hopefully just a calf strain. We should be okay against Hamilton without him and then we have the International stop so he has a few weeks to recover. Let us pray!1 point

Hmmm it wasn't an easy pass as the defender was blocking the line to Morelos but he should have done better. The one earlier in the first half when Jack robbed the defender was worse. Same happened later in the game with Stewart twice in good positions and giving the ball away cheaply. We did that far too often and that, as well as Tav's errors and our poor game management at the end are what we should be talking about rather than making tedious complaints about our defence.1 point

Gutted by the nature of that defeat. Tav is a great player but he really let us down at both goals tonight. They aren't better than us we need to beat them at home. Group is wide open.1 point

Are you Eric Cantona ? Completely irrelevant statement when you said Gerrard played our "worst" defence. So, again, you are saying Barisic isn't the best option in his position - otherwise it cant possibly be our "worst defence".1 point

Other than the aimless header at the end, he had a fine game? ?1 point

Two dreadful goals to lose and what an opportunity missed to put ourselves in a great position in that group. That team were no great shakes and I think we showed them too much respect. In saying that they did nothing in the second half and we gave them two goals - both times from awful play from our skipper.1 point

Virtually last kick of the ball. See, this is what I dislike about "we could finish top of the group" type talk - almost destined to end up with egg on face.1 point

I attended the European Cup Winners Cup match between Rangers and Young Boys in August'77 at Ibrox. I remember John Greig scored our goal in a one-nil victory and the majority chat centered around that day's death of Elvis. I'll take the same result tonight, Apparently, Elvis expired sitting on the porcelain holding a fried peanut butter and banana sandwich.1 point

Reference Ewan Murray. I first came across Ewan Murray amid the early Spring dappled sunshine of Avenida da Liberdade, Lisbon. It was the quarter-final of the UEFA Cup against the Sporting Club de Portugal, anxious anticipation was in the air. A group of half-a-dozen had gone over on a five day trip, Monday to Friday, took in the vineyards and the Fado. It was the day before the game and we sat in a street-side cafe, enjoying the coffee and the local custard tarts. An ambiance of frivolity darkened as two chaps in matching chinos, pastel shaded shirts, and careless pullovers around shoulders entered and sat opposite. It was Spiers and his then Catamite, Ewan Murray. They talked golf grips, demonstratively so; then inquired if we could recommend a restaurant? My mate, Colin asked if they enjoyed chocolate? He took their nonplussed look as an affirmative, and offered, "you can eat each other". We left. True story.1 point
