  1. 2 days, he's had 2 days. Honestly, in the last few weeks we've had Greegs is shite, Kamara is shite, sell the fuckin lot of them, and the best one of all, the golden nugget that I'll never forget - Neil Lennon contributed more to 55 than Gerrard did. And here was me thinking Follow Follow had all the drama queens. Support your bloody team.

  2. The more exposure Bassey gets to first team football, the more he seems to adapt. Given the injury situation, I can see him getting a decent run of games.

  3. Gio got the right reaction from the players last night , defence in particular seemed to show a bit more solidarity, and we're through ,when after the Hibs game ,all seemed a bit beyond us tbh. As nice as it would've been to get into the Lg cup final, the Hibs game was the last remaining part of Gerrard's legacy ,who had no success at all in cups , so we draw a. line under that one , and i'll take European football with Gio next year instead thank you very much. Only disappointment last night was queueing for a pie at half time only for the guy in front of me to get the last one 😀 .

  4. Only time will tell , lets wait and give the new management team a bit of time to implement their ideas . What we need is to go on a run till the winter break that allows us some breathing space , hopefully some players will depart and be replaced by Gios choices .

  5. I'd give MotM to the ballboy in GF1, after his highly successful wind-up (not giving the ball to the Sparta player and following it with with some cheeky nodding and smiling). His actions got at least two Sparta Prague fans lifted. 🤣

  6. It’s a good start. This is the team who lost to Hibs a few days ago so it was never going to be perfect. We looked more creative last night but we do lack a goal scoring touch up front. There aren’t many goals in the three of Aribo, Kent and Hagi and that showed last night with very good chances not taken.

  7. Yeah, it was far from what we want but it was decent. I was surprised and increasingly frustrated that the manager seemed to delay much required changes as the game went on. On a positive side, we did create plenty of good chances and, on another day, we win that game 5-0. Instead we're hanging on to a degree and reliant on a great double save from McGregor. The appointment of a new manager was never going to be an instant fix but there were enough signs of improvement to give us some confidence.

  8. I thought there were a lot of good signs last night. we moved the ball faster. We played higher up the park and pressed the ball high up. Got both goals from doing so. we were more aggressive at the back our attitude was much better. We were far less predictable. McGregor made a save or two and what saves they were. Makes you wonder what was going on under Gerrard to be honest. Some of the old habits crept back in at times but that will get better with more coaching time.

  9. I'm not sure if this is appropriate or not (@Frankie?), but there's an offer for The Athletic, if you're so inclined. It's currently £1 per month for 12 months: https://theathletic.com/checkout2/intro12monthly/?source=video_youtube_contentvideo They've got a lot of good writers. Jordan Campbell does a fair few Rangers articles. The content's great, but I wouldn't pay the usual £7.99 per month for it. It's pretty good for a quid.

  10. Are we all just going to gloss over the fact that Morelos was exceptional last season, playing that deeper role? I can't believe how quickly the narrative switches. He's been sh*te this season, but so has everyone else.

  11. Vos seems to be the tactical coach we wanted. I'm not entirely convinced of this, simply because he was coaching in the Ajax system, which is quite authoritative. He's not coaching 'his' ideas, if you know what I mean, it's Ajax ideas. However, taking some of the Ajax ideas cannot be a bad thing, can it? I think it's an exciting appointment, nonetheless. He seems to be a good developer of players, from what I've read.

  12. I'd have dropped McGregor and Morelos last night.

  13. I’m nervous with Bassey at CB because I don’t think he’s a natural there but he was fantastic last night. So much hunger and desire, great to see. That kind of thing is infectious.

  14. FWIW, I've gone for Bassey. He didn't impress at centre back in the first game against them but was certainly a lot better last night - though Goldson had a good game as well, aside from expecting McGregor to come for that late cross which almost cost us.

  15. The bigger test will come on Sunday against an opponent (and on a pitch) where we have always struggled. That's where I would like to see a tangible change in attitude.

  16. Just back from the game. Dighted with the result and the performance but felt we should've scored more.

  17. What was everyone expecting here? Gio has to work with the squad he has... I feel like a lot of fans are expecting Gio to come in an read the riot act but why would a new manager come in and shoot his load straight away? That's a one and done strategy. He's got to give the players a chance.

  18. All this season I have been saying that Gerard has/had been destroying Morelos by using him as a link man instead of what I call old fashioned centre-forward(striker). Similarly McCoist took Kris Boyd, who scored goals for fun and deployed him in that role as link man.

  20. I thought Bassey was brilliant last night, really stepped-up and didn't look out of place at all.

  21. A game lasts 90mins and Kamara's passing was poor in the first half but he was very good as we attacked in the 2nd...

  22. Why are all these players collapsing on the field? There was a lad playing for Sheriff that collapsed recently, a Belgian player not long since, Fleck was hospitalised, there's now a player in League One that just collapsed, and Aguero has just retired because of chest pains. And, of course, Eriksen in the summer. Are they being pushed too hard?

  23. It needs to be remembered too that Europe has never really been a problem under SG. It is those Scottish teams who play us every few weeks/months that know how we play and our players play that give us bother. Unless we score early and they open up, they'll load their boxes and the midfield and we need more firepower and people up front to open that tactic. Livingston away will give us a stern test and we'll have to wait and see how Gio and Co. tackle that.

  24. I got the same deal! No, it can't. I had to cancel then make another account. I've got a few emails lying about, so it wasn't difficult.

  25. I voted Alfie not only for his goals but for his all round improvement for about 75 minutes 😁 Great to see him back as a number 9.

  26. I voted Bassey purely on his attitude - but probably should have voted Alfie for his goals

  27. I always wondered what Gary McAllister's role was under Gerrard, other than filling in at pressers and the like. It always looked like the main coaching and tactical support came from elsewhere. Assistant managers seem to be a bit like US vice presidents - they don't actually do anything and are sometimes chosen on the basis of not posing any threat to the incumbent, the difference being that in football the sidekick usually buggers off with the main man when he goes.

  28. Kamara and Morelos were much, much better than they were on Sunday. I've went for Bassey too. Being honest, I was worried about him starting there, particularly in light of his showing in the reverse fixture but he played very well indeed (similar to Balogan, who went from bombscare to comanding defender overnight).

  29. Definitely should have scored more, Aribo should have had at least 2, Kent should have had 1, but we got what we needed. The main thing for me was that there was a different attitude out there. An urgency, willingness to fight hard for every ball, closing down players quicker, playing a higher line when needed - which benefited Morelos particularly. So a good start - Gio has had an instant effect in my opinion. Gerrard & co let standards slip, so this could well be the tonic we needed. We'll see but I'm now hopeful based on tonights performance.

  30. Positive in parts but still worrying that we let a bang average team back into the game which made the last 20 minutes hard to watch tbh. Good to see the fans staying to the bitter end and not leaving early thinking that the job was done. Also strange to see GVB go straight up the tunnel and not acknowledge the fans. Maybe I missed him doing that?

  31. Great effort from Hagi to get that assist, after a shaky start from him. A very good first time finish from Morelos. Sometimes he takes too many touches, when he’s at his best he just finishes it. He’s clearly aware of the criticism he has received from fans judging by that celebration.

  32. Not sure if he said big changes. Given the circumstances It's more likely that he changes how we play rather than who plays. Also likely that things change gradually over time.

  34. goldson was stating a fact. if he had said it at half time there would be an issue bit he said it after the game as a statement of fact. what he said was spot on. Christ fans were leaving at 3 nil.

  35. Rangers had momentum as a result of scoring just before half time. That should have sown the seeds of doubt in the minds of the opposition.
