  1. OK, there's some merit in winning when so obviously short of confidence but it cannot be under-estimated just how bad that was. Player after player giving the ball away at almost every opportunity and the lack of quality was extremely concerning. Three points vital though. The one positive was Ben Davies looks to be a good signing and improving all the time. Other than that it's difficult to offer much praise. Tillman's goal was superb but he was far too careless on the ball too often. And if James Tavernier isn't fit then play Devine or Sands. It's tiring to be so negative but that kind of performance can't be sugar-coated. It's very worrying we're struggling so badly with almost every player so far off their game. The manager has to try and explain why that's happened and how he intends to change it.

  2. I'm starting to think after countless games of waiting for it to happen, Mr Kent is just a bang average player.

  3. 7m Kent should rip the @rse out of every Scottish defence every other week. His doing effectively nothing for months, but people hare after Matondo ...

  4. There may be no game plan. There may be a game plan which the players don't understand or which they choose to ignore, or which they cannot deliver due to shortfall in ability. I do not, for the life of me, know which.

  5. This is just dire. We totally lack any grip in midfield, they press all our defenders and MFs and we fail to get anything going. So eventually they drag us down to their level and that quite simply is dire. What can you do? First, I'd give Lundstram some advice where he shall be and play ... or replace him with Davis. I`d also replace Kent with Sakala, who is more direct. IMHO, Matondo right now is more of an impact player, so get him on when the opposition gets tired. but not from the start. Wright is ready made for such games. Maybe I'd also replace Borna for Ridvan, so Motherwell has something new and different to cope with.

  6. 19/10/22 LEC Rangers 20 : 15 Dundee 22/10/22 PRE Rangers 15 : 00 Livingston 26/10/22 UCL Napoli 20 : 00 Rangers 29/10/22 PRE Rangers 15 : 00 Aberdeen 01/11/22 UCL Rangers 20 : 00 Ajax 06/11/22 PRE St. Johnstone 12 : 00 Rangers 09/11/22 PRE Rangers 19 : 45 Hearts 12/11/22 PRE St. Mirren 12 : 30 Rangers It is a funny old game. Thats FOUR League wins in a row with a good opportunity to extend the run all the way to the WC hiatus. Add on the distinct possibility of reaching the semi-finals of the League and lets just forget the Champions League. Only two domestic away trips in that run, both in November at the two Saints, Johnstone and Mirren (Derek would have been happy for a go of Helen back in the 70s). Three at home, Livingston next week then Aberdeen and Hearts. You could look at that as a positive or you could just say that it shows how poor the Scottish Diddy club level is these days. I guess both are true. I reckon that if you dropped our current side into the top flight of the early 80's, we'd be struggling for a European place. The Sheep visit Glasgow post our away trip to Napoli and on paper is the toughest fixture. That'll be the second game against Aberdeen scheduled post CL away match. We are lucky it was the trip north that was postponed. Even at Ibrox, if we play anything like today, we'll struggle to take anything. We'll need to up the preformance level considerably for the away games in November as well. Both Saints will provide a stiffer test than today. We were just less shit than Motherwell today. Hearts at Ibrox might be the easiest game. If they continue dropping like flies, they might only have 9 fit players by the 9th of November. I better keep quiet on that, we might not have a centre half by then. Rotating the team becoms more difficult as the options diminish. This in turn will mean more wear and tear for those available and the increased probabilty for more injuries and/or playing with injuries. It all starts on Wednesday with a League Cup quarter at Ibrox against Dundee #Free_The_Yilmaz

  7. Me either but we don’t need to. The focus has to be the league.

  8. If we collect maximum premier league points between now and the WC, I will be amazed and surprised.

  9. We were easily dragged down to the oppositions level again and made hard work of the three points. Points in the bag though and if we can make it to the transfer window without losing ground on the mhanks irrespective of the performances then I'll be happy.

  10. Garbage today I thought. I still can't work out Gios' team, every player slow to pass the ball, then proceed to give the ball away. Something is not right! have the players lost faith Gio?

  11. Did not enjoy that at all but the three points is what it's all about.

  12. I just don't understand in what world McGregor, Kent or Borna start today. Baffling.

  13. Kent with acres of space to run into: 'I'll check back and do a dummy; no one will expect that'.

  14. It's still relying on a moment of brilliance, though. That's not how you win consistently nowadays.

  18. He's started brightly today again, but no real end product. And part of the issue is that if he does play well against Motherwell, he'll start again next week and its all forgotten. He's not looked like a 7M player in what, 12/18 months really? Apart from the odd performance here and there, he's been very poo. But we stick with him... Same script today, we start with a lot of possession, a high pace, positive attitude but with nothing to show for it after 30 minutes.

  19. I want to see more of Natindo*. A £2.5m winger should be playing more. I think he's got the same numbers as Kent, but half the minutes. * Bizarre autocorrect, but I'm keeping it.

  22. Yes, he has ability but I would much rather Lowry get a chance as the 10 (obviously not talking about today), rather than Tillman.

  23. It's the second one against Celtic that is the most damaging IMO, closely followed by the immediate non reaction against Ajax. What they showed was a manager who couldn't coach or/and motivate a group of players. Firstly at Parkhead. We knew what was coming, the players hadn't taken on board the coaching (according to post match interview) and it ended up a lot wose than the Feburary debacle. (No) Reaction at Ajax Nuff said.

  25. The academy is a lottery. It is no guarantee of producing future players for the first team. Same at every club. A good global scouting network is a greater priority

  26. I'm well aware results may not be the most important factor but it must be one of the measures used when assessing progress. Otherwise what is the point of the games, why not just coach and play among yourselves. If results don't matter then why the celebrations when be taste success in various tournaments ?

  29. Lyon's new manager takes the reigns for the first time today. He lines up in an aggressive, Nagelsmann-esque 3-1-4-2. Ah - to have a young, innovative, attacking manager. Who is this fresh-faced, attacking manager, you ask? Laurent Blanc.

  30. Tillman looked he was trying to adapt his game and was putting himself about more than we have seen. Determined not to let the game pass him by. Very determined run through an awful defence for an important goal. Worth persevering (as a 10) with until better options are available. Aslong as we win, the manager will swerve any such questions easily.

  32. How on earth is Kent still on? McGregor? Who saw that coming... And why oh why can none of our midfielders just shoot first time when we're in a good position.

  36. Accordiong to Wikipaedia, that unimpeachable source, VAR in England operates like this: There are four categories of decisions that can be reviewed. Goal/no goal – attacking team commits an offence, ball out of play, ball entering goal, offside, handball, offences and encroachment during penalty kicks. Penalty/no penalty – attacking team commits an offence, ball out of play, location of offence, incorrect awarding, offence not penalised. Direct red card – denial of obvious goal-scoring opportunity, serious foul play, violent conduct/biting/spitting, using offensive/insulting/abusive language or gestures. All straight red cards are subject to review. Mistaken identity in awarding a red or yellow card. If Scotland is the same, or similar, which, perhaps it has to be for UEFA purposes/requirements, then there is plenty of scope for jiggery-popery.

  40. Kent again! Do not get why this non trier is in the team. Probably play a blinder now, hopefully.

  41. Possibly but it doesn't alter the fact that he needs 5 touches and half a minute to work out what he wants to do.

  42. I hope so. Arfield displsyed more intent in 45 mins on Wednesday than Tillman has shown all season. He's just too slow and ponderous. He's also weak physically IMO. One major post script from Wednesday was the difference in physicality between Liverpool and us. We were bouncing off their players like wee boys. Even Colak looked feeble against their CBs.

  43. I don't doubt that Ross Wison could write down a list of very good candidates but the problem will be how many on that list would want to come to Rangers with the current squad, injury list and transfer budget (less pay off to Gio and staff). A few wouldn't want to know until next summer when they can reshape the squad. This squad of players will get most managers the tin tack. An inconsistent mentality runs through too many players, who have been here too long. I agree that the line in the Chris Jack article looks like his opinion. It could be a steer from another opinion closer to the action, who knows. But bottomline, I don't think it is too much of a secret where Gio is going from here. It is only a matter of timing (between Monday and the end of the season ??).
