I don't think it's currently a case of can we afford to sack the manager it's now a case can we afford not to sack the manager.4 points
-
Of course it’s about ability. Celtic are better than us in almost every position right now. And some of our players have been very overrated.4 points
-
No matter what happens, we really need to move-on from some of these players who have consistently under-performed for multiple managers.4 points

Definition of Insanity is what we currently are , playing the same slow plodding turgid football but expecting a different result. We simply cannot play against these teams , we've been struggling for 2 years now, and expecting different results . The Feyenord fans that were on various podcasts all predicted this would happen . He has to go , and go now.3 points

I'm not even upset. I've been in this mood since just after GvB's honeymoon period. I see these performances and results as inevitable.3 points

We need a goal - been a good start to game, creating chances, just need to take one.3 points

Goldson going out was the end of our season. He's more of a Captain than Tav will ever be2 points

Omg. Wonder how much they paid city to get ceri the bore bowly in. staggering levels of incompetence on show from all involved2 points

To be fair to Arsenal they have turned it around under Arteta. Wonder how the vast majority of Gooners who wanted Arteta sacked for so long are feeling now2 points

For me the problems are above the position of team manager. Does anyone really believe sacking GvB and bringing in a replacement (who by the way) would turn things around completely? we’ve got a squad basically made up of bosmans and bargain basement signings with the occasional youth or loanee thrown in. And also with a DoF doing what exactly? Bringing in players at cut price fees with injury records ? Letting once saleable assets run down their contracts? What would any new manager make of this ? Until we get serious investment(from where I don’t know) to go out & get better calibre players then we’re stuck where we are I’m afraid with the occasional good season but mostly mediocrity2 points

It never has under gio. I have no idea what our best team is and neither does our manager. We all know what's coming in the near future. I expect a new manager to be in place at the turn of the new year. In the meantime I have no expectations in the current set up. We're bang average.2 points

Gio can't motivate the players it seems. Utter bull IMO.2 points
-
Like it or not, if Gio can't get the players playing for him then he has to go. What's the point in keeping a manger if he can't motivate the team? He has to go.2 points

They'll learn from it and come back stronger etc. Yawn.2 points

Unfair on Tillman to get subbed. I thought he was one of our better players. Morelos and Colak on the pitch, though.2 points

They have not been in our 18yard box and we are 1-0 down! Need to get back to the performance levels of the opening 20 mins and convert a few chances into goals.2 points

Kent just going through the motions, has been for a while now, spins in circles with no end product2 points

And yeh, this for me. Stats aren’t the problem, it’s just about understanding what they are based on and I’m not sure how a chance is defined here. A high quality chance stat would be far more useful, as well as making it “per 90”. It also just doesn’t make any sense at all that Jota is not in the table. He was on the same number of assists as Kent on Friday and for me, he creates higher quality chances consistently.2 points

Napoli go six points clear at the top of Serie A after beating Atalanta last night. Second place Milan got a last minute winner, so it could have been a bigger lead.2 points

Maybe they simply remove the roof and thus they get a shower every other week for free?2 points

Cult Hero, Legend, King of Controversy. There is no-one that epitomises that more than Willie “Bud” Johnston. He was famously sent home from World Cup ‘78, left hung out to dry by the country he loved. A career that spanned 3 decades with Rangers, West Brom, Vancouver Whitecaps and Hearts. I’m can’t believe how quickly this has come to a head. Anyway I don’t think there’s any way back now so, regardless of the cost, it’s probably best the board just gets on with it.1 point

20 corners 20 times just lump it into the box 0 variation. Quite bizarre and symptomatic of simply going through the motions, oh for a leader of men!1 point
-
Aye but on the drip till they find something else (I know, I know!!) or their contracts expire. The cost of him staying in place will be far, far greater.1 point

Not disagreeing with any of your points , I actually like your posts and think your more progressive than most1 point

Yeah. We have gone backwards, though it doesn't help having, England fullbacks Chilwell and James out as well as Kante, Fofana and Kepa all of whom would have started. There are a lot of similarities between Gers and Chelsea performances atm, no urgency, can't do the basics, can't hit a barn door with a banjo, and seem not to care..... which is most worrying. Chelsea's next 2 games Man City and Newcastle lol1 point

Feck it and get Kevin Thomson in till the end of the season. incidentally, Ajax are one nil down to PSV. But we can’t compete.1 point

I don't believe we're that skint. We must be the only club in the world that can't afford to sack a manager. If we are, I've outlined a couple of moves (a while ago, but in this very thread) we can make that would only cost paying off GvB and a couple of assistants. I also do not believe we need to rebuild the squad - a refresh, sure; but that's a 2-3 players? Basically, sack GvB and his two assistants. Appoint Vos, keep Bowley. Appoint Milsom and Culshaw as technical assistants (they're out of work). Surely that doesn't cost a lot? But, ideally, I think we should move for Knutsen. His contract - and those of his staff, presumably -- runs out this season. Even the most financially troubled club - we're far from that - will sack a manager if they keep losing. Oldham Athletic have been issued several winding up orders, yet have gone through 9 managers in the last 3-4 years. You think we're worse than that?!1 point
-
But its not just the money to sack Gio and his team it's also the money to entice a new manager (and team) and to rebuild the squad. No manager is taking the job without assurances that they can bring their backroom team with them and that they can bring in new players.1 point

I was trying to exorcise that spectre. Should have gone to Ghostbusters.1 point

All the possession but far too laboured and little to no attacking movement with Kent and Colak both offering very little. We play like we have sandbags on out feet. We really need some spark from someone but far too many hide instead.1 point
-
Kent back to offering very little. He holds onto the ball for far to long for me. Got to be more direct rather than shuffling about doing wee dances on the ball. first twenty we went at them tried to pass through them, run at them. After that reverted to aimless crosses that cause no damage1 point
-
That f*cking drum is giving me a sore head. We're playing well but need a goal.1 point
-
Probably our most brutal first 30 mins of attacking football all season. If only we'd reward ourselves with goals.1 point
-
Celtic have their wingers wide but they run from very wide positions towards the centre when there is a cross about to come from the other side, and it leads to them being in loads of space every time. I think it was their second goal yesterday that was a textbook example of this. Abada has done it to us a few times too. It’s so simple but it’s an effective tactic that has been drilled into them, compare and contrast to our wide forwards.1 point
