  1. As an aside, I would like to wish Gio all the best in the future and wish him good luck in his next role. In his year in charge he guided us to Europa League Final, won the Scottish Cup and qualified for the Champions League. The run to Europa League Final had some brilliant highs (although it ended on a low), with this being the pinnacle - that night will live in our memories for ever.

  2. I'm hearing we've had talks with Marcelo Bielsa. I've just made it up, but take that for what it is.

  3. It's too early for Beale. He's been in the QPR job 5-minutes. I'm quite excited by Gerardo Seoane. That's the profile we need: a tactician, with a record of implementing a style of play - in his case high-pressing - and experience of managing and winning titles with a big fish in a small pond (Young Boys).

  4. Beale at QPR, P 21, W 9, D 4, L 8, goal difference +2. I don’t get the clamour for him.

  5. I find it hard to believe it's a coincidence that Beale was just up for a laugh the other day and then Gio is sacked soon afterward. Not sure how I feel if he gets appointed, in some ways it's a backwards step and it's certainly a gamble as he hasn't really been tested as a manager yet.

  6. It is a "concerted effort by Fifa to clamp down on time-wasting by more accurately monitoring the amount of time the game is stopped". Chairman of Fifa's referees committee Pierluigi Collina confirmed last week that fourth officials had been instructed to keep track of time lost during the game during the tournament in Qatar, something they had also tried to do at the previous World Cup in Russia in 2018. "In Russia, we tried to be more accurate in compensating for time lost during games and that's why you saw six, seven or even eight minutes added on," he told reporters at a pre-tournament briefing. "Think about it: if you have three goals in a half, you'll probably lose four or five minutes in total to celebrations and the restart." I can't say I disagree. Time-wasting annoys me.

  7. I think Bodo/Glimt are expected to have all the possession, domestically at least; they're the best team, so you'd expect the others to sit in a low block. That's partly the reason why I want him too. He's won titles playing a good brand of football, and is capable of putting a plan together for Europe too, where they would not expect to have all the ball.

  8. i'm already bored to death with whole 'manager go round' business, and have no clue at all who would be best suited for the job. We could go down the route of a 'Good cop ,bad cop' scenario , so maybe KT ,and Neil McCann ?or even better 'Bad cop, bad cop' Gatusso and Neil McCann. Don't think there's be any 'Oh hard luck lads' after a St Mirren defeat, with that two. You'd be getting your baws booted and be thankful for it.

  9. Beale isn’t my first choice but it’s pathetic the way some fans are already crucifying him out of hand. What the hell is wrong with us, can’t we just show the guy some respect and act like adults?

  10. MARKINCH MEMORIAL GARDEN PROJECT Everyone in the footballing community will either remember or have heard of the Ibrox Disaster on January 2nd 1971,Sadly that day 5 schoolboys aged between 13 and 15 years from a little town called Markinch in Fife lost their lives in a crush. The street where 4 of them stayed has a memorial stone facing down it however recently vehicles have been driving on the grass around the memorial making it unsightly and harder to maintain. Markinch Community Council, Fife Council and Glenrothes Loyal Rangers Supporters Club have investigated the erection of a wrought iron fence around the 5 remembrance trees and the memorial, the lifting of grass and replacing it with granite chips and possibly a bench if funds can stretch. We feel this enhancement will give the memorial the prominence it deserves and also make it more conspicuous to the many visitors who come from worldwide to pay their respects, The whole project of fence, landscaping and a bench is approx £10,000 with the fence alone being £7650.://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/p/markinch-memorial-garden-project

  11. Is this guy not just retweeting Patrick Caskie's watch list?

  12. Agreed. And while we’re at it, let’s get the ref mic open to the crowd/TV so we can hear exactly what is being said to and by them. Would cut out a lot of the aggro and help the viewing experience. Would also shine a light directly on the refs who want to make it about them.

  15. I'll now go and post that on another forum as a rumour I've heard. That's exactly how it works these days.

  16. Cheers Rousseau, I feel we don't need to show the table as much..................

  17. From the little I've seen, what Beale has going for him is that he really wants the job. That's always a great place to start.

  18. The time for Beale would have been when Gerrard left. We were top of the table, had someone who knew the players and was pivotal in how we played..... not dissimilar to Walter taking over from Souness. However, right now, these players have chucked it. Think it now needs something more - and I say that as someone who really likes Michael Beale and would have happily taken him as manager when Gerrard left

  19. As someone who takes an interest in middle eastern football I can tell you that his teams score very high in terms of xB. That's the expected beards metric common in the arabian peninsula. Quite different to the expected bigotry metric that we are more familiar with in Scotland.

  20. Sorry I seen it plenty. Moving the ball from side to side then getting bored and having one of the fullbacks cross it in to Morelos against 6 defenders.

  22. I did not watch the game but was told the Iranian team didnt sing their anthem in protest at what is happening at home. That is a real protest, England/MSM. Nothing as virtuous as the threat of a yellow card for them. It could be imprisonment or a visitation from the revolutionary guard to family members. Southgate and his ilk really are a bunch of preening millionaire dandies.

  25. The list of names are all too well known for my liking. Too many recognisable vowels in the surnames as well. I have been keeping an eye on some promising bearded managers in the Kyrgyzstan second division. Wait untill you see xG for some of these guys. Through the roof for play, following on from throw-ins, during the key 25-38 minute stage. Will post an utterly meaningless pie chart after I finish analysing some Turkmen five-a-sides, from September '22, at double speed.

  26. Even in the first half Argentina's performance reminded me of one of ours. I don't see them turning this round...

  28. There’s nothing wrong in pointing out a managers record as to why you would not wish him to be our next manager.

  29. Wouldn’t want Beale. Many of the problems the team have now were present while he was an influential coach here. Resorting to constant crosses, possession based football for the sake of it (horseshoe) struggling to break teams down etc

  30. Do we need the Getsnet version of VAR to keep thing (ahem) correct? 😏

  31. Please tell me the Record are just making shit up? If it's Beale then the board are hopeless when it comes to football matters.

  35. Why don't they follow Rugby and control in-play time properly by stopping the clock when necessary. That way everyone knows how much time is remaining. Playing time should never be unknown and at the ref's discretion.

  37. He's without a club - which is not the case with the other two... LET ME DREAM!!

  38. This, combined with his inexperience and our poor form before he left, is exactly why he should be nowhere near the list. We need a ruthless bastard, not a nice guy.

  39. I think it used to stand for success but for a variety of reasons - primarily mismanagement this millennium - then that's not so much the case nowadays. I do like Cammy's answer about the RCF which is an interesting modern take on how the club should look to the future in terms of inclusivity and community but that's perhaps more of a general outlook than a defining one. If we could get back to being Scotland's most successful club then I'll take that for the time being.
